I figured we should have a topic more suited to discussing things going on in the world, like news and politics. It's better than spamming our IRL Ourselves threads, or the Busty display page. Here we go! I'll get us started in the first post...

Ya know how the Pope described the middle east as Evil and Unneedingly Violent or something like that?
They got pissed and burned seven churches and killed a nun to make him take back his words.... Isn't that just proving his point even better. neutral Kinda unnedingly violent there, it's like a part of the world full of children. >.o

I pretty much throw all religions in the same boat. I mean look at the Dark Ages & the various Inquisitions throughout history. I really can't see how any one religion can put themselves over another.

I myself am not of that religion, but I used to be and know for a fact that they are doing precisely with the Quran says will get them straight to hell. It's like they're looking for way to assure that will happen.

Rioushu Did you know that the Myan calendar stops at December 21st, 2012? I remember hearing something about that though I don't remember any specifics around it.

Well, it's said that the world is either supposed to end, or start the 'beginning of the end' on that date. Either way, not good for us.

Ahh. I remember seeing something on the History Channel about the end of the world. Societies have been trying to predict that seemingly forever.

Aonice_Mitsoku damn it! That means that i'll be like, 8 days away from my 24th birthday! gonk Happy Birthday. Looks like your gift will be coming early. xd Anyway, this talk of terrorism and whatnot reminded me of something interesting I came across not too long ago: Quote: Koran (9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace. Keeping in mind that the symbol of America is the eagle, and the verse number is 9:11. Rather odd, no?

neutral Of course, some of the extremists would probably interpt "fearsome Eagle" as "F'ing big airplane with loaded fuel tanks"...
A lot of religion isn't as much about what the actual words as much as the meaning that is drawn from them.

Personally, I would have just dropped a nuclear warhead on them the minute we found out Bin Laden was behind it and turned the whole country into a parking lot and followed it up with a sentence revolving around the idea of "There's your damn eagle", but that's just me.

Dante. Personally, I would have just dropped a nuclear warhead on them the minute we found out Bin Laden was behind it and turned the whole country into a parking lot and followed it up with a sentence revolving around the idea of "There's your damn eagle", but that's just me. rolleyes Yes, and we all know how everyone just loves it when America throws it weight around and kills innocent civilians in the process. The problem with extremists is that they're a minority who try to excite the majority. And if that doesn't work, they hide behind said majoity anyways. A guy from my dad's work place who went overseas had a story that's a good example of this: He said that terrorists would set up mortars in farm fields near the factory he worked at during the night. But they made the farmers fire them for them, under threat of coming back to slaughter them and their famlies the next day. And of course, the U.S. protection around the factories didn't extend to the nearby farmlands, so there was nothing doing for it... But instead of just doing as they were told, at some point the farmers told the people at the factory about their situation. And when they went to fire off the mortars they'd miss horribly. Since the factory was a fairly armored building, and the workers had been forewarned about what times the attacks would take place and knew when to stay inside, no one got hurt most the time. The world isn't so simple as we would like all the time, Dante. You just have to keep an open mind and try to make the best of it...
