Battle Fleet Gaia Personnel
A resourceful guide to people who occasionally pop up on Gaia for visits from time to time.

What is Battle Fleet?
Called by many names, including the Multi-Dimensional Alliance and the Interdimensional Empire, the Fleet is a collection of carefully selected personnel from various dimensions who are vaguely unified against an enemy called the Deity Command. The Fleet's interests are wide-ranging and in addition to this war, the Fleet pursues scientific research.

Who leads the Fleet?
The Imperial Trio: the Goddess, the Black Lady, and the Grey Mage. The Black Lady, also known as Her Ladyship Admiral EmileAmai Piett in her "mortal" guise, is the overall commander of the Fleet and in charge of military affairs and Fleet objectives.

Who are the Deity Command?
To most of the Fleet's hundreds of members, they are merely the abstract concept of "the enemy." The DC is an organization dedicated to the regulation of certain rules of dimensional creation, maitenance, and destruction. The Three were once members of the DC. They were held in very high esteem there. Then they collectively developed philosophical differences with several of the DC's rules, broke the rules, and were punished. They then formed the Fleet to retaliate against the DC. Very few Fleet members ever come into contact with the enemy, who are all actualized deity-class dimensional beings. Fighting against them is a task for individuals who are uniquely powerful and specially trained for that purpose.

Wait a minute, gods? Can't gods do whatever they want? Why would gods need science and technology and humans at all?
Because even gods are bound by rules. In fact, they are bound by more rules than the average human. Many rules can be bent, but none can be broken, even by the Three. In a way, this is just a giant game, and all the mortals involved are merely pawns. At the same time, the mortals are necessary for victory. The Three cannot attack directly and must rely on these emissaries to fight the war for them.

How can I join the Fleet?
Most likely, you can't. Fleet membership is restricted to recruited individuals -- if you have someone of value to the Fleet, you are invited to join. The majority of Earth-bound humans have nothing to offer the Fleet, unless you are a high-level scientist or manisfestation of the Goddess. Even if you fall into one of these two groups, you still may not be invited. (It must be noted that on Earth, there exist more than one Goddess manifestation. Two are presently known. One is a Fleet member.)

Galactic Navy

Director: L. Adm. EmileAmai Piett
Deputy Director: Unlisted
Director of Navy Tactics: Gr. Adm. Min'narkan'tanit Trant
Deputy Director of Navy Tactics: Comm. Charles Aberdeen

The Navy is the so-called "original" branch of the Fleet, as the Fleet's original purpose was a normal space fleet for conquering planets and the like. Members of the Navy are 3d, or "unlimited", combat specialists. They are trained to think of combat without right and left or up and down. Combat in space requires a completely different mode of thought that land combat. Attacks can come from any direction. Attempting to label things up and down or left and right can be fatal. A good naval officer needs to be creative and quick-thinking, capable of improvising under high-stress situations. Good spatial sense is a must.

Naval officers comprise nearly ten percent of the Fleet. Nearly 80% of all Navy personnel are alters or trifectas. The Navy uses the Naval forms of rank address.

Intelligence Division

Director: Capt. Pavel Pavlovich Antipov
Assistant Director: Dr. Jonathan M
Deputy Director: Satosuke Kagawa
Section Chiefs: Comm. Tuthau gian Fourdr, Markham Laurie, unlisted

Comprising over twelve percent of the Fleet, the Intelligence Division is also known as the Fleet's Eyes. Intelligence personnel are frontline fighters who infiltrate the enemy and report back their findings. Emotional control is essential to Intelligence operatives, who must be able to pass lie detector tests and participate in enemy actions without ever revealing their identities. Many of them are sociopaths.

Just under 50% of Intelligence personnel are alters or trifectas. The Intelligence Division uses the Naval forms of address.

Tactics

Director of Navy Tactics: Gr. Adm. Minnarkentanit Mak Nikettantrek
Deputy Director of Navy Tactics: Comm. Charles Aberdeen
Director of Army Tactics: Gen. Tuthau gian Fourdr

Tactics is the elite of the military command, the people in charge of actually formulating the batle plans for the entire fleet. The outcome of battles depends on these commanders, who must be absolute geniuses in their area of expertise. Mistakes can result in the deaths of hundreds of people. Being so elite, members of this division comprise less than five percent of the overall Fleet. Tactics uses the form of address for the division in which the tactician specializes, Army or Navy. There is only one member of the Tactics Division who does not belong to any other division in the fleet: Trion Bartholomew, the Tactics equivalent of an independent consultant.
