I like them. It's definately not my style but many of my friends draw these types. I would say it's "emo" style. One cool thing about it is you can put anything together and it works. I think they look cool, the first one was very original and abstract. That one was my favorite

no, im kidding. i actually liked them. the first was by far the best, cuz i've seen more chained hearts in my life than you have hair on your head. for the eye, i think it looks cool, but adding more detail to it would give it a really nice look, because as it already look seperated, you can add more depth.

The realism question was an example. With what you've said, I think a diferent route is needed. To convey , or hold, a message, you place an image on paper, or other media. The question is what do you want the image to be? For instance do you want the trees to look like they are covered in realistic or styalized bark? If styalized, what kind of style do you want? This goes for any part of your work.

In the style of grand masters everywhere, you must know where you want to go to get good directions.

What inspires art is of far smaller importance than most people think when it comes to critiques. You stated that you would like people to see more than just the image in your work. That is a great start. How are you going to do that? It sounds to me like you are going for visual poems. As such, maybe you should think like a poet, but using vissual means instead of literary ones. Consider every part of the image and make sure that it doesn't take away from the meaning. If it detracts, fix it. If it is extraniuos, why keep it? As a whole it should be understandable, even if you need a key like for reading a map.
