my 5th (A) string dosent sit in the nut, but every other string does, any thingi can do to fix this?

nutat the top of the neck? if so file the sides of that gap a bit.

It's quite possible that last time you re strung it, you turned the knob backwards. I've done it.

what kind of strings are you using and what gauge? i have used accoustic strings on my electric and have had to file before. If you are uncomfortable doing this, just get a different nut and file the new one.

If you are uncomfortable doing this, just get a different nut and file the new one. im using the Zakk Wylde series 10 gauge and everyother string and brand of string fits it...

If you are uncomfortable doing this, just get a different nut and file the new one. im using the Zakk Wylde series 10 gauge and everyother string and brand of string fits it... The Zakk Wylde GHS strings are top-heavy, so maybe the nut is able to take the E (lowest note) string and not the A string. If so, you may be forced to file, however just switching your guage of A string should fix it. You may want to check for anything in the nut as well. Some kind of debris or something perhaps..... It won't hurt the string to take it off and peek in there, but I wouldn't do too much bending low on the A string for fear of moving the string off the groove.

If you are uncomfortable doing this, just get a different nut and file the new one. im using the Zakk Wylde series 10 gauge and everyother string and brand of string fits it... oh jesus. if u insist on using telephone cables, ur prolly gonna have to file the nut slightly. but some big advice, make sure ur truss rod is set up for somthing that huge. if you dont, you can bend the guitar neck beyond repair. i almost did that to my poor Jackson. i dont reccomend somthing that big anyways. they sound phenominal on the low end, but they can beat the crap out of ur instrument.

speaking of big strings i use 11-50 set on my axe right now...in standard tuning xd yes i did set up the truss rod, adjust the bridge and intonation, its a dream to play!!!
