simba blinks. everything around him seems to be so blurry, as if his surroundings are a kaleidascope of colors and lights. slowly, his vision refocuses and he can see clearer. simba blinks again. he turns his head slightly, and sees the gentle, peaceful face of...* ~mom...mo...mommy?~ *simba tries to lift his foreleg to paw at his mother, but finds that his body is still extremely weak. an impatient little growl gradually creeps up his throat, but much to his amazement, what comes out is just a little squeak. Slowly but determinedly with all his strength, simba reaches up with his neck to give a slobbering wet lick at the snout sleeping face...and bump! simba drops back down into her mother's embrace as the exhaustion of trying to lick his mother overwhelms him. Frowning a little bit, simba tries to playfully paw at mommy's nose again.*

Being a light sleeper Kimondo had heard the tiny squeak. Opening one of her azure eyes she spots the moving form of the tiny prince, Simba in Sarabi's embrace. A smile spread across her face as she rolls on her side to watch the tiny cub. A yawn escapes her as she stretches, making sure not to hit any of the other lionesses around her. The tip of her tail gently bats the ground as she watches the tiny prince try to wake his sleeping mother. It was quite a lovely scene to watch unfold, but the prince looked determined though it was apparent that his strength wouldn't last as long as his will.

Eyelids began to flutter open, revealing chocolate brown eyes, swirls of dark brown and specks of light brown mixed within. The owner stretched and yawned, revealing her white, sharp teeth and her red-ish pelt, her tail flicking to the side, a habit that she did to show that she was fully awake.
Licking her muzzle, Mwinda began a slow walk towards the pathway, her eyes directed on the sun, which was already begining to rise.
"This is a little to early for me.." She murmured, her tail flicking once more. "I'll just get something to drink."
Mwinda continued down the pathway, her head turning left and right, just to make sure there was no one following her and that no strange animals were surrounding Pride Rock.
Minutes passed and the huntress immediately spotted the large body of water. Picking up her pace, Mwinda hurried towards the waterhole, her ears pinned against her head. Dipping her head, she reached out and began to drink, her brown eyes darting around cautiously.
After a moment or two, Mwinda withdrew, licking her maw clean of any water. Studying her surroundings once more, the huntress sped off, taking a fast paced walk back towards Pride Rock. As she neared the edge of the pathway, she bounded up, taking large leaps instead of her usual steps. As her paws touched the rather flat surface of the top of the pathway, she slowed down, rather sure that she was safe and no longer out in the open.
Laying down near the edge, she sighed deeply, unsure of why she was so afraid of being out in the open in the early hours of morning. All thoughts were pushed aside, however, as she turned to watch the sun, which was almost reaching its wanted location.

Nala yawned and stretched her small tan arms out in front of her, her paws kneading the rock a bit. Crawling out from under her mothers arm, she wobbled her way out of the den. A cool breeze ruffled Nala's fur as she yawned. Hopping down onto her favorite little ledge, she sleepily watched the rest of the plains start their morning. Nala rested her head in her paws, it was too early to play, so relaxing seemed the best alternative.

A lioness adorned with a golden pelt stalked the lands, keeping an eye out for easy prey. She was not one of the best hunters of her pride. The plain was barren, however, so Wingu just walked around idly, keeping her bright eyes alert for anything on the move.

A similarly golden pelt, the same shade as her mother's lay crouched behind a rocky craig, fearly peeping out from behind it as striking, emerald green eyes followed Wingu's huntig form. Maawio had been hiding along the plain ever since Simba's birth... she hadn't wanted to witness the birth of the cub that Wingu hoped would one day be her mate, for that was not what she wanted at all.
And now she would face Wingu's rage, if she found her. Maawio was sure that her mother was out hunting for her, instead of innocently hunting for prey.

A gratifying breeze blew over, Wingu stopping to enjoy it. The air was as dry as could be; this was the norm for the dry season in the savanna. The huntress sniffed the air, hoping for the wind to have carried scent of a herd not too far away. Instead, a familiar smell graced her nose. Wingu began to follow it, ever nearing the rock crag from whence the scent seemed to be coming from. "Maawio?" Wing called out, sensing her daughter was near.
((Augh, Wingu's so big for my siggy! When I resize it she gets all blurry ><))

(( Better? heart )) Maawio's eyes shot open, almost bulging out of her head as she silently cursed the whispering wind. With a slight squeek, the youth bolted, fervently hoping that with a head start, she'd be able to outrun Wingu, and find another place to hide.
She knew it was hopeless.

((Oh yes, thanks so much! heart Lucky me, to have MS Paint -cough-
And I assume no green is needed as we're in the Prideland Thread? whee ))
Wingu's yellow eyes flamed. So her daughter thought she could run from her? The lioness immediately started after the cub, easily catching up to her. Her long and lean legs were a great advantage, as they are a great advantage when hunting. The lion snatched her cub up nimbly in her jaws, and trotted over to a shaded area.
Wingu gently set Maawio on the grass, reclining on her haunches herself. "Don't run," she ordered as she caught her breath.

((*breathes sigh of relief* Ahhhh, long diary entry done. >> It's three pages in MS Word. XD))
Maawio sighed, squirming slightly as she dreamed of the horrible things that Wingu could, or would do to her. She considered running away again, to join the Firekin, or become a rogue... or something. Anything rather than face Wingu.
But she knew it wouldn't work, so she waited in silence, wishing her mother would never catch her breath.

Wingu finally took a good look over her daughter, scanning her up and down almost skeptically. "So...you do know you're in trouble, little missy?" she started, keeping her head high. The warm breeze that had scoped out Maawio had not resided. Many freshly green leaves rustled above the lions, for the gracious shade was of a savanna tree.
((Heh, I need to do a journal update for my Adu sweatdrop ))

((*falls over* Stupid Wotcher. >> Earlier, she told me that the name Maawio sounded like a baby trying to say Mario, and so now I can't get that out of my head! XD;;; ))
Maawio crouched low, instinct keeping her down as her body language showed that she respected Wingu's authority. She didn’t trust her voice, knowing that it would stammer even more if she tried to speak now, when she was so upset, so all the little lion did was nod in regards to her mother’s question.

((Nuu! Hopefully I'll be able to forget that in a few moments, don't ever mention it again xd ))
The mother sighed heavily. "Please tell me you have a decent reason for missing the birth?" Wingu didn't want to be dissappointed in her daughter, so she hoped that Maawio had a good explanation. It was too early in the day to be giving lectures anyway, but she'd certainly reprimand her if need be. "Because I don't want to hear that you simply forgot. I told you multiple times to make sure you were there, and how important it was for you, and when the time came you were no where to be seen!" Wingu had yet to mention that Maawio was the cause she herself had missed the birthing and the ceremony.

"N-n-no," Maawio muttered, her body nearly pressed against the sandy desert ground, and her eyes remained downcast. She didn't have teh strength to stand up to her mother and defy her by lying... it was a miracle that she had been able to run away, though it hadn't worked.
