*Wide green eyes softly laced along the young Firekin’s form as he circled him slowly. It had been a few weeks now- and Kol had kept his promise. He had protected both mother and son the best he could but there would come a time when Ravi would need to defend himself or maybe even his mother. So today he would give Ravi a lesson or two on self defense. With a dark grin he stood himself and sat down in front of the young male. He was lanky and too sweet- a mother’s son to put it at best. With a nod kol spoke.*
"Alright Ravi, sit up straight and listen to me carefully..."

Ever since his mother had met Kol, the male had been with the duo for some time. While it took his mother a while to trust the male, Ravi followed after his mother blindly, not questioning her for she knew things better than he did. And now, with his mother out hunting, he was alone with Kol. Golden eyes turned to the male curiously before he sat up and flicked his ears to Kol. What was going on? A puzzled look flashed through his eyes as he replied, "Yes?"

“Listen to my words carefully, because I will not repeat myself.”
*Kol stood himself up and eyed down at the young male.*
“You will be learning how to protect yourself today, Ravi.”
*Kol wouldn’t give him much of a change, so what he said would be law. He had to be hard on Ravi- the male was weak due to never being around another male in his life. He was part Firekin after all- it was in his blood to be strong! Slowly Kol circled him again and studied his frame, as if to see what all he was working with. Taking a step back he sighed and realized that he had a lot of work to do, before Ravi would become a decent fighter.*
“Tell me Ravi, what would you do if someone attacked you?”

Golden eyes watched Kol circle him, wondering what he was up to. At the words "protect" and "attack" Ravi's head snapped towards Kol. Where would he get that idea? Eyes turned slightly to the side as he remembered back as a cub where he promised his Auntie Kiburi that he would protect his mother. Though, at that time, he never understood the full meaning of it. He never knew that it could include fighting and giving his life if it came to it.
His tail slightly curled around his body, uncomfortable with the idea of hurting another. "I don't know? I'd try to keep myself from getting hurt, I guess."

“That’s not good enough.”
*Kol announced, slowing himself to a stop right in front of Ravi.*
“You need to be able to say that if something like that happened- you’d protect yourself, fight back if needed. What if a large male wanted to attack your mother Ravi? Would you hope that you wouldn’t get hurt while she defends you? What if something happened to her? Who would protect you then?”
*Kol knew that he was probably pushing a button or two… but maybe that is what he wanted to do. The best way to get reaction from someone was to poke at what they held dear. If Ravi’s inner fire settled around thoughts of his mother then Kol would push at that until the male opened up to him.*

At Kol's words, golden eyes narrowed a bit. Who would hurt his mother? The very thought of someone hurting his mother made his blood run cold. "No one would hurt my mother. Not while I'm there!" Ravi exclaimed, though he had nothing to back it up with. Without a father and without playmates, he's never play fought before. He's never experience rough housing, only the playful games with his mother as a cub.
Ears flicked back slightly, it was a shame that the young Firekin didn't know the amount of strength that he could have with his size. "If I had to, I would protect my mother. She is all I have, and I have promised my Aunt Kiburi that I would." In a matter-of-a-fact voice, his golden eyes were still on Kol, watching the male.

*A soft smirk passed Kol’s maw as he nodded at Ravi. This was a better reaction… at least now he was confident with his words. Slowly Kol moved to Ravi’s side, speaking with a dark tone.*
“Good… good. Now, I want you to come at me with all you have. Be willing to strake me down- because I will not go easy on you.”
*Kol’s body flexed as he stood himself in front of the young male again. His green eyes laced along Ravi’s frame slowly. Even if it took years Kol would make Ravi see that power was not a bad thing to have. He would need it in life- he would need to be strong to protect the ones he loved most. It as a fact in life- only the strong survive.*

Strike Kol down? Was the lion insane or something?! Where did mother pick this one up again?! Golden eyes widen in shock and surprise as the young half Firekin tried to grasp that unthinkable concept. Attacking another for no reason. Ravi was rooted to the ground, unable to get up and take the first strike. Words came out in a slight tremor, "Strike you down? Are you crazy!" He turned his head, unable to look at Kol in the eyes. The large male's eyes were scary, holding something which Ravi didn't like nor did he want. "I won't."
It wasn't him, it wasn't him to even harm another despite what words he spoke. Ravi was soft, too soft for reality and it was all thanks to his mother cuddling him as he grew. Though, he would never blame his mother, she had a tough time raising him alone and as a slave to the Firekin. That's where he grew with the concept of fighting and strength is bad and to use such powers would only corrupt. "I will not become one of those red pelted monsters. I will not be Firekin!" As he spoke the last state, his golden eyes flared as he stared straight at Kol.

*Kol’s eyes narrowed softly as Ravi spoke. His words were strong… but they were empty. Ravi would have to grow up if he was to make it in the real world. Though Kol would never lap a paw on his mother- the grown male was going to have to make Ravi’s inner anger shine, so that Kol would teach him how to use it.*
“Hit me or else I will kill your mother...”
*He announced, slowly circling the young male. This was an awful thing to do he knew… but someday Ravi would thank him. When it came down to it… Ravi would need to know how to react to such things… so that he could indeed protect himself and loved ones.*
"Attack me or I will kill her, Ravi!”

Kill his mother! His blood ran cold at the thought of his mother dying by this lion's paws. Golden eyes narrowed angrily at the threat placed before him. Ravi could not even conceive the idea, it was so foreign that he wanted to cry on spot. What would he do without his mother? His mother was everything to him. As Kol taunted him, circled him the young Firekin didn't know what to do. He was in a dilemna, not do anything which is what he wanted to do or take the first strike, which was what the male wanted. His insides were screaming at him to get away from this situation, he was not apt to handle it, especially when his mother's life is up in the air.
While he didn't know that this was just a bluff since he's never been in this situation, he was taking this quite seriously. What should he do? He didn't want to attack Kol, he didn't want to hurt anyone! But, his mother could handle herself, couldn't she? Golden eyes studied the male, what was he thinking? His mother would be overpowered by this male! He wanted to curl up and cry, it was the only thing he knew how to do. His gaze shifted to his paws, did he even have claws to defend himself against this deranged lion? Lifting his paw as to inspect it, he stamped it down on the ground, "You will not hurt my mother! I vowed to my Aunt that I would protect her and you won't lay a claw on her!" He said firmly as he stood up slowly, never taking his eyes off of Kol. He would not strike first, he would not unless he was forced to actually try and fight. Oh, that would be a pitiful sight to see.

*Good… he was opening up. The large male lower himself and slowly stalked back and forth, eyeing Ravi darkly… he would make Ravi strong- so that he could protect his mother. Kol would never harm her- in fact he had grown use to her and accustomed to her presence- if anything happened to her Kol feared he may too go a bit nuts- but he wouldn’t tell that to Ravi… not when he was trying to toughen him up.
With a deep snarl Kol pulled a paw at Ravi and with a rough thud he landed the first punch. He did not use his claws- knowing that his mother wouldn’t be happy if her son came back with scars. She knew that Kol was going to do this… he had spoken to her about it once before- but he wouldn’t do anything to damage the male.*
“Come on!”
*Kol yelled, pushing himself at Ravi.*

Not expecting the strike to come so quickly, Ravi fell back and stumbled. Kol's snarl made a chill go down the young Firekin's spine. Golden eyes flared slightly at the attack while his mind was rushing with things to do. He couldn't attack Kol! He just couldn't find it in him to do it. His Firekin side hasn't came out yet, he's never wanted it to. He doesn't want to become the monsters that had enslaved his mother. He leapt to the side to try and dodge any other attacks coming his way. A snarl slowly crept it's way up his throat before it came out, "This is stupid!"

*With a strong thrust forward Kol pushed Ravi onto the ground and pinned him there. He eyed down at the young male and sighed. Why wasn’t Ravi trying?*
“Look- I am here to teach you how to fight- you need to learn- I have tried everything I can without ‘harming you’- why is it that you won’t fight back? There must be meaning behind this because if I were not a friend, you would be dead… so tell me what it is that you fear about learning?”
*As he spoke the male slowly lifted himself up from the young male’s form and stood before him. He wasn’t sure what was going on within that head of his- but he wanted to find out. This was… bonding time.*

Pinned underneath the large male, Ravi could feel himself tremble in surprise and fear. Golden eyes were closed shut as he tried not to think about the bad guys, the lions who he always feared. As he felt Kol's weight shift off of him, he stayed there, lying on the ground. His golden eyes slowly opened concentrating on anything but Kol. Kol had tried to attack him, to teach him to learn to fight. Why was fighting important? He's never needed to fight until now and it scared him to his wits. At Kol's words, he could feel his blood boil through his veins. Why didn't he want to fight, wasn't it obvious to the male!
Another snarl escaped the young Firekin, it was a strange and new sound to him. "Don't you get it?! I don't want to be Firekin! All they do is fight each other, over what? Power! Strength! Anything! They are awful lions and I don't want to be them!" His voice turned bitter, "My mother is afraid to look at me sometimes, especially now that I'm getting bigger and looking more like the lion that took advantage of her!" His gaze shifted towards the sun, his namesake that he was nothing like. He wasn't hot and fiery like the sun, he was probably more like the moon than the sun. His paws were placed before him as he got up quickly, taking calculated steps towards Kol. Ears were flat against his skull as golden eyes were cold, "You want me to do what I don't want to do, what I don't want to become, for what? To live and defend my mother? I already know I'm useless to her in the sense that I can't protect her. You've made that very clear to me."

“And if you never learn then you always be useless Ravi. If you never try to defend yourself you will never be able to save her. I will not let myself be easy on you, because like it or not you are firekin in blood.”
*Kol’s words were almost heartless sounding as he spoke, snarling at the young male. It angered him to see such lack of energy in Ravi.*
“But you can make a choice to be different. If you learn how to use that inner strength you have for the better good then you will be nothing like the firekin! If you learn how to protect the ones you love then you will be nothing like the firekin! You are not going around raping, killing and pushing harm on to anyone by learning how to defend yourself Ravi, it’s a born right you have- but if you wish not to use it then fine- but if I am not around and the Firekin come for you and your mother, you will be sorry you never learned.”
*Kol was going tired of even trying with him. As much as he cared for his mother, she had really just sheltered this male too much- though she did it for good reason Kol felt because of it Ravi would never want to learn.*
“Do what you want then- I have no say in your life.”
*With that the older, dark male pulled away from the youthful male before him and slowly trotted back to his mother. Maybe Kol would have to try this again… at a later date; but for now Kol longed to speak to the red lioness. Oddly he missed her.*
