Nestled in one of the lesser known corners of Gaia was the village of Astora. This small community was located on the border of the mysterious Falsin Forest, and was partly secluded from the world by various mountains. Although the village had existed for centuries, its population began to decline within the last few years due to violent attacks from the creatures inhabiting the forest. Eventually, unknown natural hardships called the creatures back into their forest realm, leaving Astora on the brink of extinction.
Lady Chiaku, leading a band of individuals mastered in different skills, discovered Astora years after the attacks ceased. All that remained of the town were delapidated buildings as the forest worked quickly to engulf the land around it. Few villagers remained; among them were Father Christopher, Ms. Rosemary, Faevan, Dio, and various other citizens who survived the violence of Falsin's creatures.
Taking the position of leadership, Lady Chiaku coordinated the reconstruction of many of the buildings, ordered the land to be plowed for crops, and set the people to various tasks. The discovery of a hot springs in the vicinity of the village also prompted the building of a teahouse and garden to supply revenue for Astora's lowly funds. Trade agreements were established with nearby villages, and town shops were able to stock their shelves with products once more. The village was now established once again in some manner of order, and it seemed that life would carry on peacefully...
One day, a mysterious adventurer returned from the Falsin Forest and presented Lady Chiaku with a strange plant. Within days, the young seedling transformed into a young girl, and it became apparent that the plants gave birth to the dangerous Elemental Spirits who inhabited the forest. Brave travellers began to venture into the forest, picking up seedlings when they were found. The seedlings, rare species capable of producing children with extraordinary affinities to the elements, were soon sought out by the people of Gaia...

Briefly detailed here are some events that have occurred in the story of the RP thus far. The synopsis will be updated when possible, but it is probably safer to check recent messages in the RP thread than to trust that this section contains the most up-to-date information. After several peaceful days, the calm of Astora Village was suddenly shattered. Zeejay Morato, the town guardsman was shot by mysterious arrows during her patrol of the outskirts of the village.
Then an alarming incident caused the fae children to scatter into the depths of the woods. Many villagers gathered together and braved through the treacherous terrain of the Falsin forest, searching for the lost children. They discovered many strange and frightening sights within the darkness of the trees, including grotesque beasts and ancient ruins. After they had successfully found most of the children, they were able to use the auras of the combined fae to neutralize a mysterious force field in one area of the forest.
In this blocked area, they encountered two adult fae who had kidnapped Absalom. These fae, named Pirces and Demios, seemed to possess a secret conspiracy to hurt the children... However, they released Absalom and disappeared into the forest.
After they returned home and rested, Chiaku went to speak to the various residents to check the status of the fae children. She later found that Zeejay had been badly wounded, and care was requested from Lienna.
At the inn, a young Emerald green seedling was given to the new village seamstress, Carol. Kapono was then born in the presence of many of the villagers, including the fae children Momo, Linnea, Sylvia, and Shin Daiko. Linnea was discovered to have grown as well.
Nekura and Kizzy became acquainted in a confrontational manner, resulting in hurt feelings between the two children. Meanwhile, newcomers to village Paine and Carol worked together to prepare pancakes to appease the upset Kizzy. Zeejay recalled the tragic elements of her past, including the incident that resulted in her attack. She revealed part of this information to Seriva, upsetting her daughter and causing the young faeling to flee. Toshihiko, Sai, and Chiaku worked to relocation Zeejay to the Inn, where she could be cared for by Cordain.

These are not just rules of the game; these are LAWS. You will follow all laws posted, or risk the wrath of the game master. Do not dispute the laws I have written; I have taken careful time to consider each one, and have even received second opinions from other roleplayers. .: Outline of Laws :.
Section i. Basic Laws of Gameplay Format Section ii. Basic Laws of In-Game Play Section iii. Inviting Pets Basic Laws of Gameplay Format Basic Laws of Gameplay Format idea - YOU MAY NOT PLAY IN THIS GAME UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THE RULES AND SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION HERE. idea What Is the Calendar? The calendar consists of four "months" or seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn. Each season has 12 RP days. Time is greatly accelerated in the game because of the length of time it takes for us to get through one RP day. idea - All posts should be written in the third-person perspective (she/he/it), and in the past tense (was/bought/jogged). idea - A day in the game may take longer than one day in real life. Because of this, I will announce during intervals in the game, "Location: Astora, Date: Autumn 11, Time: Late Afternoon, Weather: Cloudy" to orient you with the current setting. idea - DO NOT post one-liners in this thread. If you post something, make sure it has some substance; as in, most posts should be at least 2-4 sentences long. idea - If you have any sort of question, concern, and remark about the game, please post it in the shop/headquarter thread; I will see it there. I feel that it ruins the flow and atmosphere of the story if people start making random comments about real life in the middle of a game. Even if someone walks into the forum and posts something like, "hey, guyz, i want some gold som1 giv me some!!!!!11111eleven", do not respond to this post with witty remarks. Just ignore it and keep RPing; I will handle the situation. idea - You may only roleplay in this forum. If you have some remark about real life, no matter how small it is, DO NOT post it here. Go to the shop/headquarters forum. idea - Refrain from posting emoticons as much as possible. I am putting a restriction on emoticon use because I don't want people to abuse them in the game. idea - If you are responding to someone else, take out all of the "So-and-So Wrote:" so that there is only one box. DO NOT do this:I said this. DO this:I said this. Basic Laws of In-Game Play Basic Laws of In-Game Play idea - If Chiaku wants you to change something you have written in your post, DO SO. I will probaby also supply a reason for why I wish you to change it, so do not complain or throw a fit. idea - No character aside from the Elemental Spirits may have super powers. All of the villagers are humans. If you want your character to be special in some way, PM Chiaku first and ask if the specialness is Ok to roleplay. idea - DO NOT ask Chiaku to evolve your Elemental Spirit or give you more Special Events. These are usually timed processes, and I will not hand them out by request. idea - DO NOT make references to the real/modern world if you can avoid it. For example, the villagers of Astora would not know of the existence of Adolf Hitler, televisions, or Australia. Certain things are allowed, like the food the villagers eat, but I wish to limit the relationship between Astora and the real world as much as possible. idea - DO NOT speed up the time of the game, just because you want something done. At random intervals, Chiaku will post the new time for the game when she sees it fit. See the Basic Laws of Gameplay Format for more information. idea - DO NOT in any way, form, or manner control another character that does not belong to you. If you're revealing a secret and you think everyone should be shocked, you are NOT allowed to write something like, "Chiaku said her secret lover was the Masked Crusader and SailorM4ev was obviously amazed." Feel free to ask someone by PM to react a certain way if you want, but DO NOT do it in-game. idea - No matter how exciting or adventurous your real life is, DO NOT write about it in your journal (save the section which contains, "Information About You"). This journal is for RP purposes. If you want to record the excitement of your real life, then go get a journal at http://www.livejournal.com/ instead. idea - Posting in the journal should follow most of the same rules as posting in the RP forum. Please write this journal from your own perspective (first person perspective). I advise that you do not write in the perspective of your child; write in YOUR OWN perspective. idea - If ever you are uncertain if you will do something wrong in the game, DO NOT POST. Take time to ask Chiaku if you are doing something that will be Ok or not. Inviting Pets How to Invite PetsWould you like to invite a Gaian pet to come live with us in Astora? Because of the many restrictions in the game that help maintain its atmosphere, I would like you to PM me and ASK FIRST whether you may roleplay your pet in our game. However, ask yourself the following questions first (if you answer yes to any of them, you may want to reconsider asking): question - Is your pet bigger in size than a large dog? question - Does your pet have some special power, like the ability to turn into mist or speak to humans? question - Is your pet not based on some sort of animal in real life (as in, it is some sort of monster/creature that possesses very little likeness to a dog, cat, etc.)? Is it based on some sort of animal that is larger than a dog? question - Is your pet going to appear more frequently in the game than most of the other members (as in, you post more for your pet than most other members so that it actually become part of the main cast instead of a side character)? question - Is your pet dangerous and highly unstable in some way? Let me explain some of the reasoning behind these rules, if you care to know. I want this game to be realistic in all manners possible (aside from certain fantasy themes that I have selected). How many lions do you see people keeping in their backyards for pets? How about bears? Ok, then. According to my logic, it would be just as difficult to tame and domesticate lions in real life as it would to tame and domesticate griffons in our imaginary world. Larger animals generally mean more difficulty in taming them. Also, the more apt they are to cause significant damage, the less likely you will be able to tame them. (If you disagree on this point and say, "Hey, but my character is good with animals! He can even speak to them, so they like him! Blah blah blah!" then you didn't read my point on the characters in this game being mere humans. If you can prove to me that you keep a tiger as a pet in real life, outside of a cage and letting it frolic about your yard, then I will let you have a large/dangerous pet in this game.)

Centuries ago, the village of Astora was settled for its rich, fertile soil. Although it faced a period of disastrous decline, the arrival of Lady Chiaku revived this small community. It is now a thriving town, full of various businesses and residents.
The Governor's Manor - (Residents: Chiaku, Momo) A large but comfortable house which features many items that Chiaku has collected through her explorations. Although there are many bedrooms, studies, and perhaps even a library, most visitors only see the main parlor of the house. The manor is open on Sunday afternoons to all of citizens of Astora who may wish to converse with the governor. Teahouse Garden/Hot Springs - (Residents: DivineSaturn - Teahousekeeper, Linnea, ??? - Gardener, ??? - Teahouse Cook, Xue-Lien, ??? - Hot Springs Attendant) The primary tourist attraction of Astora: a Japanese-style teahouse with gardens and a hot spring in the back. The Dojo - (Residents: ??? - Exercise/Martial Arts Instructor) A large Japanese-style dojo so that villagers may exercise. The School - (Teacher: Toshihiko) A small building reserved for a school building. Assorted chairs and tables have been collected for students, and an old chalkboard leans against one wall. The Library - (Librarian: SiyannaTwilight) The library is made from gray brick, and houses a wide variety of different books that Astorans have collected and donated. Inn/Tavern - (Residents: Cordain - Innkeeper, Nekura, SailorM4ev - Maid, Kizzy, ??? - Cook, Cirisse - Musician) The main room consists of a bar along one wall, with the stairs to the second floor and the door to the kitchen. There are tables with chairs scattered about, along two more walls are booths. Another wall has a hearth. Rooms for visitors are upstairs. Expensive rooms are furnished with feather down mattresses and various furniture. Cheaper rooms can be bought with straw mattresses and wash basins. Various Houses - (Residents - from top to bottom, left to right: Linnea - Nurse, Toshihiko & Absalom, SiyannaTwilight, Zeejay & Seriva) These are small houses that accomodate many of the villagers. They seem uniform in appearance, but their interiors are decorated according to the tastes of the inhabitants. The Hospital - (Lienna - Nurse, ??? - Doctor) A hospital which specializes in modern health treatment techniques. The Farm - (Resident: Faevan, Shin Daiko) This old farmhouse comes equipped with a kitchen, 2 closets, a living room, and a spiral staircase which leads to a loft-style bedroom on the second floor. A privy and shed are in the back of the land, and among the crops that are grown are lettuce, carrots, radishes, soy beans, wheat, onions, cherries, etc. The Ranch - (Residents: Dio) A very functional building inside and out, the Ranchhouse consists of a large, central room with a hearth, large table, and some cushions strewn around. Against one wall is a large storage shelf unit. A ladder leads up to a plain loft with bedding materials. Outside the house is a pen which holds 10 sheep and 15 goats. A shed is set up behind the house with tools, etc. Chickens mingle with the ducks from the pond. Small Pond - A small pond that attracts ducks each year. It is a source of recreation for the children of the village. The Fortune Teller - (Resident: Fe - Fortune Teller, Maise - Dog) A small home with an area converted for business. Fortunes are told here through palm readings, astrology, and tarot cards. Mysterious Old House - This is an old tattered house that has been abandoned for years. It will soon be overgrown with the wildlife of the forest. Occasionally, villagers have reported strange sightings involving this house.
The Shop
The Town Shop - After Astora was restored, Ms. Rosemary was again able to open her small village shop. The store is lined with shelves of various products imported by merchants from other villages. Many of the delicious food items found in the store are said to be made by Ms. Rosemary herself.
If you wish to purchase a store item, send a trade to Chiaku with the current amount of money with the name of the item in the subject line.

The Church
The Church - This old church has always existed in Astora, and has been maintained in the last 50 years by Father Christopher. When the village was reconstructed, it was given a new design and refurnished by many generous believers. It consists of rows of wooden pews and an alter, where Father Christopher gives sermons on Sunday mornings.
In the Church
Father Christopher: "Pray and the Lord will always be with you. I invite all Astorans to visit the church on Sundays."
Current Donations: 0 gold
If you wish to make a donation to the church, send a trade to Chiaku with, "Church Donation" in the subject line.
