((A sort of retrospect RP, set before the events between Mufasa and Nyek, just after Danzi started his wander trip))
He was supposed to be on his way to the Kusini lands, but after running into a seer and learning of his true relations, Danzi had backtracked. He had to talk to someone, get it off his chest... He wanted to talk to Mufasa, but he wasn't sure how the older male would react. He was also afraid... Of what, he knew not. Perhaps being banished in case he wanted to take the throne? But the throne he didn't want. Having lived his life as a rogue, an orphane... He wanted nothing more than to know he had family, a home.. That he belonged somewhere.
Moving up Pride Rock, the orange lion gazed up the mighty stone face. His father had once set paws here... His grandfather, his great grandfather... His ancestors had been born and raised on Pride Rock, around it, in the Pridelands... And he, Danzi, had been born and raised a rogue. His nightmares had settled down since he'd met the black and brown seer, and it actually worried him. Swallowing a bit, he padded towards the main den area. "Sarabi..? Your majesty...?" He hoped she didn't react badly.

An old head lifted from the carcass of a zebra that'd been drug just inside the mouth of the den. The cool rock kept it fresh just long enough for the pride to finish it off. Sarabi glanced back at the kill, sighing inwardly. She really should eat something... but she always had so little appetite. Deciding the yound orange lion was sufficient reason to put off that particular task, the queen rose slowly and padded out into the warm sunlight. Kindly red eyes fell on the lanky form and dark mane, bringing a smile to her maw for the lion she'd welcomed to the pride so long ago.
"Danzi? What can I do for you, dear?" The queen came to a stop and settled back on pale cream haunches, relaxing as she prepared to listen to his request, or perhaps he had some bit of news he wanted to share with her. Not much reached Sarabi, save through the few that came to visit her for a little gossip. It was the only entertainment she found nowadays.

Padding over and bowing slightly, as one would expect to be done for not only an elder but a ruling lion, the much younger lion sat down. "Do you remember when I came to you, and asked if you knew anything about the lion called Taka...?" He still wasn't sure how to handle the subject. His slight hesitance was evident. What if such news as he had caused something bad to happen to Sarabi? He worried about those around him, related or not. He couldn't help it, despite the bitterments of his parents, he had a caring heart.

The old queen nodded gently as she listened, her head slightly tilted as her ears perked forward. Each word was caught in the soft hollows and processed by an agile mind. She well remembered that conversation, and the questions about the lioness that had lurked in the graveyard. But she'd already told him all that she knew... so why seek her out with it now?
"I remember, Danzi." She smiled and chuckled softly, her slat-ribbed sides shaking. "I may look old and frail, but my mind is still sound. Did you find something new to share with me? Or did you just want to talk about it again?"

At the time, it had settled some of his questions. The lion of his dreams was the dead lord he looked like. And now... He let out a heavy sigh, looking out towards the bones of the Graveyard. "I started to head to the Kusini lands to visit Asi, see how he was doing... And I found a seer along the way..."
He looked back at Sarabi, green eyes locking on her red. "When I asked about my enigmatic father my mother had told me was from these lands, he told me something about the lion, and I had to come back here to tell you or Mufasa, since I figured... You two would be the best lions to tell in these whole lands."

Sarabi's soft ears perked as she listened, her slender tail flicking gently at the tip. "A seer, you say? That's a very unusal thing. Not many lions are born with the ability, and even fewer stay sane and learn to control it. What was it he told you about your father? It seems to distress you, or you wouldn't have come to me like this." She smiled gently, trying to calm him with her own steady nature. There was nothing his father could have done that would make her think any less of his son, let alone make her or Mufasa want to banish him from the Pride.

"I don't think he had much trouble with sanity and control, he was pretty sane to me." Not that he'd met many insane lions, though. It wasn't something one actually ran into all too often. "He told me that my father was... Was Taka. The same Taka that used to live here, probably the only Taka." It was clear that something like this troubled the younger lion.
To go his whole life not knowing anything about your family history, and suddenly find out... It wasn't all pleasant in Danzi's mind. Would it change who he was? Would it change how everyone looked at him? Would bigger things be expected of him...? He wasn't used to such thoughts, growing up a rogue without such cares. The worries were what troubled him the most, especially since as far as he knew, he was the only offspring of the late lord.

Bright red eyes widened for a moment, then softened as a smile creased the old face. "Taka... Somehow, I always knew." Her soft chuckle rang out, floating softly on the air. It was so obvious now that she thought about it. After all, hadn't she mistook him for Taka, the first time she'd seen him? And there was that conversation they'd had, moons before, about Danzi's mother. It didn't take a genius to add two and two to get four, and the queen of the Pridelands was anything but stupid.
Rising slowly to her feet, Sarabi stepped close and sat at the orange lion's side, leaning her frail shoulder into his as she rubbed her cheek against his mane. "This only means we are closer than we thought, Danzi... I always felt kindred with you. Maybe not by blood, but by our hearts. This new information changes nothing between us." She purred low in her throat, the sound warm and comforting. "I will still be your friend, if that is what has you worried, though I'm sure I'm the least of those worries..."

A sigh of relief escaped. She didn't think different of him, that was good. But how would everyone else think of him..? That still worried him. "Thank you... Aunt Sarabi..." It felt strange, refering to her as aunt after so long calling her queen. "Friendship lost... Isn't what frightens me, though... I'm afraid that everyone will expect a lot more of me, or act differently around me if word gets out." He was thrilled that he had family, but indeed how others might think of him was what scared him the most.

The old queen smiled as she rested her head against the lion's shoulder, a purr in her throat. Aunt... what a lovely sound that had. She understood his fears, though her expirience was far in the past for her. After all, she'd felt the same thing when she'd gone from a pretty young huntress to the wife of King Mufasa. Everything had changed, then.
But, perhaps it wouldn't be that way for this yound one. "Oh, I don't think all that much will change for you... unless you count suddenly finding yourself part of a giant family! You know that the royalty isn't really treated any differently than the others." Sarabi smiled reassuringly, her tail flicking gently side to side.

The words rang rather true. He DID find that he suddenly had far more family than he had thought before. "Well... It's a good thing I started keeping track of who's who and who's with who, at least in the pride, since I got here..." He smiled a bit, then sighed. "Thank you..." He nuzzled against the old lioness, purring a bit. "It feels like... Something that was empty is filled in."
He chuckled, then rose up. "Now it's just a matter of how..." He stopped, pondering how to refer to the king now. "How Mufasa will react, and... Um..." He stopped to think. Okay, he THOUGHT he had them all counted... "Well, five direct cousins and six half cousins... I think my head's spinning already." The orange male let out a laugh, then closed his eyes as the winds tugged at his mane. They called... In their way, they called him. They had always called him. Smiling at Sarabi, he started down the side of the monolith. "I should get going... My paws itch a bit. I promise I'll come back, though."

Sarabi smiled as the young lion brushed against her, her purr rumbling in her throat.
"Don't worry about the King, Danzi. We are most often of the same mind. I think he'll be happy to find another member of the family, and welcome you into the family. Its what I would do." She said softly. "And don't worry about learning the whole family all at once... it will come with time, dear."
She rose as he did, standing to watch as he turned to go. "Good luck and fair travels, Nephew. I hope to see you again so."
