while i was training my peoples(lvl 50s) i came across emerald weaopn guarding a place,i cam up on land,floated over him and found the gelnika.I entered the gelnika aircraft and collected a sword,which was of no use for i had beaten ultimate weapon.I used the given save point,walked along to the right,assessed the damage, and died against some random tentacle monster.
When i tried to reload my game,it gave me a nice polite mesage of "File is ruined"
can someone please tell me what to do to get back to where i was in the gelnika?

Hmmmm....have you tried reloading since then? If you did and it still shows the message, try cleaning the disk and blowing in your memory card, then retrying again.
Ive never had something like that happen for a prolonged amount of time. It should recorrect itself, but you may have to screw with it a little. Worst case scenario would be a completely corrupted memory card, in which case youd need a new one and be forced to start over. Try other games with saves on the memory card to make sure it isnt the memory card itself.

That "File is ruined" message is almost always wrong. If you have a GameShark or Action Replay, I can help you bypass it.

Knowing that "File is ruined" or "corrupted file" is fixable would've helped me a LOT. I had to restart the game on many ocassions because of that damn message of impending doom.

It's actually not a problem with the file itself, but rather a faulty checksum that gives a false positive if your file meets certain conditions. Nine times out of ten, there's absolutely nothing wrong with your data.
I've never heard of it happening in any newer FF games, so Square seems to have figured it out. Too late for us, though. sad

It only happened to me on my Gameshark memory card, which is a specific card I use for my cheat files that I just destroy the games for for story. That and my oldest memory card, which has an excuse since it was from back when the original PS was still relatively new. sweatdrop

the ruined file usually shows up when i try to reload a game that i used cheats on (not gameshark stuff)

"Ruined File" O.o I've never even HEARD of that. Weird.
So you just want to get back to the Gelnika?(That's what it sounds like) The Gelnika is sunken right off the shore of the Golden Saucer area. There's a little bay there so just truck on over there in your sub and then dive.
