Demyx was growing restless. Trapped in the confines of this basket for so long, what would soon be one incredibly energetic pup sighed with boredom. The small basket shook a bit as the pup inside flopped over. Soon enough it'd be time for him to leave the basket...but not quite yet.

He somewhat missed whatever Tala it had been that was talking to him before. Said Tala had called him weird, but at least it had been someone to talk to and make him forget just how bored he was. Hopefully someone else would come along soon.

Til then he'd just be forced to wait.

After a long listless search for what he dubbed 'search for minions for a purposeful cause', Xemnas finally decided to take a break, resting - or he liked to call it brooding - while thinking about plans involving hearts and nothingness.

That is, he was resting, until something caught his eye.

Originally, he had dismissed it as some basket; a useless prop, until the thing moved. With piqued interest, he plodded towards the moving basket, poking it with his paw, as if attempting to elicit some reaction from the.. moving basket.

Demyx had actually started to drift off to sleep, which was somewhat of a miracle for him.

Well, he HAD been going to sleep, until his basket was suddenly, and very rudely, poked at. His 'prison' shifting around him, the small pup gave a yelp of surprise and tried to keep himself from toppling around.

"S-s-stop that!"

Voice small and timid, the pup was hardly something to be afraid of. To make matters worse, his basket, for whatever reason, played just a bit of music after the initial poking. Demyx himself still couldn't understand why the basket always did that when someone touched it, as it certainly wasn't him making the noise.

He wasn't sure what surprised him more: the squeaky voice, or the music that responded to his prodding. Well, surprised wouldn't be the exact word; the Superior did not act surprised. More like... amused.

He was half-tempted to lift the flap open and see exactly who (or what) was in the basket, but he also didn't really want to know what was playing that music. At any rate, he put on his best intimidating voice.

"And who do you think you are to command me like that?" The tone came out in a low, almost threatning sound, each syllable voiced out slowly.

Now there was something he wasn't expecting. The return voice was so low and intimidating Demyx almost found himself too scared to talk back. Then again, he did feel a small urge to protect himself.

"Well, y-y-you're the one poking at MY basket! ...W-w-whoever you are..."

The first sentence had been bold, the voice backing it strong. The second sentence however took on the initial squeaky and timid voice.

"Oh" An amused smile from the older of the two. "So its your basket? Then what would you be doing in the middle of nowhere?"

The squeakyness of the voice gave away that this probably belonged to the voice of a youngling. He leered at the basket (even though noone could see him). "Did someone perhaps... abandon you, alone to fend for yourself? As for who I am... well, you can call me 'Superior'".

"N-no! Well....erm..."

Demyx struggled to recall just how he had gotten here. So far he hadn't seen the outside world, so he really didn't even know where 'here' was. Maybe someone HAD abandoned him. But he couldn't recall 'meeting' anyone besides that one who had called him weird. So who was there to have abandoned him?

"I d-dunno really..."

The sheet shifted a bit, the very tip of a nose appearing to sniff in the direction of this so called Superior. The nose wrinkled a bit (as this one even smelled of power and intimidation), before quickly disappearing back into the basket, sheet shifting to cover the pup once more.

"Erm...'kay Mister S-superior...I'm Demyx...."

The that briefly poked out confirmed his suspicions: this one was just a cub, barely out of their newborn stage. It was good; it was best to corrupt younger ones, they were the more guillible.

"Superior is fine, Demyx," it took him a bit of effort to address the cub by name; but he did have to win the other's trust. "No need to add 'Mister'."

And with that comment, he slinked closer towards the youngling again, so that his body curved around the edges of the basket, tail wrapped around the blanket, grasping an edge of it lightly. "Why dont you come see the world outside? I could show you... many things, and teach you, since you have been abandoned by others."

He smirked, with half-closed eyes. "Yes, you have been forgotten by everyone but me. You are a ... nobody; but with me, you can be more than that."

Demyx slunk back in the basket, struggling to stay away from the edge the newcomer was grasping.

"I'll c-c-come see it...I just dunno w-when..."

He wanted out, really. He just didn't know if it was such a good idea to go leaping out of his basket with this Superior looming over it.

"...forgotten? But..."

How could he have been forgotten without ever MEETING someone. To the young Demyx it made no sense. It was hard for him to realize that simply being in a basket left out in the open could be considered forgotten and abandoned.

"What's a nobody? And...you'd really teach me?"

Ahhh the naive way of the young. It was perfect for Xemnas' plans, and perfect for getting Demyx into far more trouble than he'd ever be able to handle.

Sliding through a black portal and taking refuge up in a nearby tree, Saix watched what appeared to be a pimp talking to a basket. Now, normally someone would say 'LOOK! IT'S A PIMP TALKING TO A BASKET! HOW CRAZY!', but Saix hated those people and often rammed a claymore into their frontal lobe, so he didn't do anything of the sort. He simply gave a loud scoff, attempting to draw attention towards himself. "Isn't this just rediculous...talking to your lunch."

"Let me put it this way," Xemnas began, "you were born because someone created you. But that someone, instead of taking care of you, decided to abandon you, leaving you alone in this world to fend for yourself. That someone, they didn't care if you were starving or dying or anything, or if you got attacked by monsters."

A smirk. "In fact, if I wanted, I could kill you right now. But I choose instead, to protect you." Not that a pup would be grateful, the insolent brat. "And as for a nobody... see, you were born because-"

- he stopped halfway as he saw someone else plodding towards them. The scoff immediately made the 'Superior' realise that this newcomer just wanted attention. He shook his head slowly, bangs covering his eyes so that only a thin smile showed across his muzzle.

"Why yes, you could say that I do want to... 'eat'... my lunch, though I find it more ridiculous that you would address such a person as me, who is engaging in something as lucrative as talking to a basket."

No need to tell this stranger about the cub; Demyx wasn't important enough to explain anyway.

He raised his head to look at the newcomer, eyes unreadable, "And you are?"

Inside the basket, Demyx was pouting slightly, not that anyone would see the gesture of course.

"Well...whoever woulda left me is just plain rude...but I'm happy you came along!"

Contrary to what Xemnas believed, the pup actually woudl be grateful. Demyx took an immediate liking to anyone who seemed to want to care for or pay attention to him...however creepy they might be.

At the sound of another voice, Demyx tilted his head slightly. Another one had stumbled upon his basket? Well hopefully if this newcomer wasn't so nice the Superior would drive him away. Of course he wasn't really catching on to this whole lunch conversation either.

"Who's out there?..."

Blanket shifting, the nose appeared again, this time staying visible to sniff and take in it's surroundings.

Being the king of sarcasm that he was, he couldn't just -answer- Xemnas right out. "I am oddly amused. But if you were to have asked the question properly you would have learned my name is Saix." He dropped out of the tree landing on all fours with a loud -thud-. Grace was something he didn't need. Ears adjusting themselfs to hear the 'two' better, Saix tilted his head. "Now, I've heard of playing with your food, but having a conversation with it?" Shoving the basket around with his forepaws. "Why not light the basket on fire then feast upon what's inside?"
PostPosted: Fri Sep 15, 2006 3:03 pm

He chuckled lowly. "I see, Saix. You have an interesting name, like our friend Demyx here. Your names all... mean something very important to me." And he left it at that, attempting to milk in the other's (miniscule, but still existant) curiousity.

He shook his head, hair and mane ruff fanned out slightly. "Now see Saix, you andI, we aren't meant to be savages. We were meant for something greater than... thinking of edible morsels; and therefore, you must think beyond the box. Or in this case, the basket."

And with that he turned once again to Demyx. "Of course I will take you under my guidance, but you in turn must listen to me. If you act out of what I tell you to do, I can't guarantee your safety."

The pup toppled over as his basket was shoved around, nose disappearing from view once more. As Demyx struggled to regain his balance, the basket he resided in emitted a bit of a muscial tune before falling silent again.

Now this new one didn't seem so nice, but the Superior didn't appear to approve of the behavior, and that managed to keep Demyx calm. He had been about to question just why his name was important when the Superior addressed him again.

"I can listen! I'll be real good, I promise!"

The pup would be good at following directions. Doing so would perhaps bring him praise, and positive attention was always good. So long as Demyx actually understood the order he was given he'd try and carry it out.
