My choirs were pure choir. No musicals at all... but we did cram in some late night rehearsals when we sang "Hymn to St. Cecilia" by Britton and "Adagio for Strings (Agnus Dei)" by Barber.
Neither was an easy song. ._.
When I was in the musical, we had pre-scheduled cram rehearsals. o_o;

Our choir's never done a musical. Our choir was mostly kids around my age in the range of 11-12-year olds. But I think we could do it if we really tried!
I should suggest that to our teacher next year..

Musicals at my school are for anyone interested. Of course, we mainly get music and drama kids. We rehearse 3 times a week, so it can get pretty chaotic.

Yea, I think all drama productions are like that. Its probably partly because the directors get freaked out, and then again, you might need the practice (haha like me).

Oh, you mean Hell Week? We have a school musical, which is open to everybody who wants to be in it. We have Pop's, which is for choir students who want to be in it. Then we have a play (though this year they did Godspell. WTF?), that is open to everybody.
For Pop's, we start at around four or so, and go until our number's are done. If you are just in the big group numbers, then you get off sooner thn if you are in the smaller ones, or if you suck. biggrin During hell Week, we come pretty much every day, and sometimes on holidays and weekends.

What Eldelli said. We always get the night before opening night off, both directors at our school (different departments for the musical and the play, they fight over the theater regularly) think it's important to have a night of rest. Dress rehearsals get pretty intense, though. I remember half the cast was skipping through-out the dress and run of Les Miz because of lack of sleep.
