It took me a while to realize this, but love him or hate him, Jeff Gordon has earned the respect of the entire NASCAR community and should have it. Looking at his record, he is easily in the top 3 of the best of all time right now, and could make a valid claim to be the best before his career is over.

He will probably eclipse Earnhardt's win record either late this year or early next year, and barring any catastrophe, he has a viable shot to get ahead of David Pearson's win total of 105.

Like him, you don't, hate him, you may, but respect he has in my book.

He's the Wayne Gretzky of Auto Racing... slowly but surely earning his keep as possibly the greatest we've ever known in NASCAR...

But why doesn't he stray from the pack and try open wheel!!

Jeff Gordon has done great in any type of racing hes tried. i know he's hit a rough spot but that dosn't mean that he isn't the best living and driving driver we have. there are some retired drivers that still hold the title "The best" but Jeff is getting closer. If you consider the racing those other guys did you'd see that its not as easy now a days to win then back in Richard Petty's day, when only 1 or 2 cars would still be on the lead lap. I think jeff deserves the title now....but I think even if hes proven himself to be great not only by getting the Winston Cup championship 4 times...winnign the daytona 500 on a few occasions.....he has proven himself great by not yelling and screaming and saying bad things back to the fans that have hated him...and called him gay. He is a great man for his skills on and off the track.

I drive a chevy. stare Just because you grew up with Fords doesn't mean you should disrespect anybody who drives a chevy. You have a preference, which is fine, but it doesn't entitle a lack of respect for others.

That's awfully narrow minded, don't you think? It's like saying I grew up with a family of brunettes, so therefore I dislike/disrespect all blondes. There are many very talented Chevrolet drivers out there, not limited to just Jeff Gordon either.

Look. Jeff gorden had his time. So let him go and a new person come threw. It made sound narrow minded, but thats I fell. Chevys in book just suck. There are more of them so I go for the odd balls, Which happen to be Ford best there so few of them because all the good racing stuff was banned by nascar for bing too good. That why I don't give repesct to chevys. They cant keep up so the rules change. Thats also why the piont's system change after matt Kenseth won the champ. But Kurt Busch won it anyways.

stressed gonk For cryin out loud! PLEASE write legibly!

P.S.- Hendrick Motorsports teams all drive chevy's, including Jeff Gordon. As much as I hate to admit it, HMS has done very, very well the past few years.

I was watch some stuff after quaifying today and now I know I don't giver respect to jeff gorden. When he did the bump and run on rusty, thats when he lost all my respect. I hate the bump and run for a win.
