-Background-

Long ago, the continent of Elem was divided. The names of the four territories was lost to history, as is the names of the tribe that ruled them. One tribe claimed the north, another the south, the third the east, and the fourth, the west.

The very center of the continent lay unclaimed. It was decreed neutral by the ancient ones. Once a year, during the Season of Whitefall(If you don't know what this season is, I'll strangle you...) representatives of the four tribes met in the neutral zone to renew their treaties and commence in batrer and trade.

Where do the Elementae fall into the picture? The ancient text says they were worshiped as gods, or fairly close. What is certian is that one forcing it to aligning itself with a human soul is considered nothing short of heresy.

There was one that didn't think so...

The name of he/she whom bound an Elementae to his/her soul is lost to history as well. What wasn't lost was that the very same year, during the Season of Whitefall, blood was spilled on the neutral territory, igniting a war that engulfed all four of the tribes. The Elementae intervened and eventually scoured the land of all four of the major tribes, leaving only the few minor tribes.

News of this war and the disapperance of the major tribes reached over the oceans. Very soon, people of all professions rushed over, staking claim of various parts of the continent, forcing the last of the minor tribes into the once Neutral Zone. For them, things were tense. Not one could trust his own neighbor. Be it a collective fear or paranoia, the text says not what, but the end came to these people.

Centuries later, Travelling Mages discovered that the entire continent was so rich in Elemental Energy, which they Called Chi Elementae, that every person, depending on where one was born, had a natural alignment.

Wind Chi was strong in the Northern reaches in the continent.
Earth Chi was strongest in the South.
Water Chi resides in the East.
Fire Chi predominated in the West.

As to not play favor from one section to the other, in what was once the neutral zone, special in it's own right, due to having no affinity to either of the four Chi Elementae, rather, it was strong in Chi Celestae, of which all may use, the Magus Academa was built, welcoming all whom wish to study the Magical Arts. Around the Academa, villages began to form, eventually becoming the capital city of Zephyr, otherwise known as the City of Mages.

As the years went on, it was discovered that Chi Elementae could be applied to more than mere spells, though that was, and is, the medium of most materialzation of Chi in this plane. In the City what has now become Sei Leor, located on the border of the ancient south and East Territories, Earth Chi, Water Chi and Chi Celesta(I forgot to mention Chi Celesta can be found most anywhere on the continent) are used as elements of healing. Sei Leor is also the location of the Temple Sei Leor, training Priests and Priestesses in the Art of Healing.

Fire and Wind Chi are also capable of healing, it was discovered later, Leading in the creation of Temple Anca, located in the city of the same name, just on the ancient border of the Northern and Western Territories.


In addition, each Ancient territory had Academies teaching Art Combat.

In the North, nestled in the plains, Academa Fugea. The Fugea style was one that excelled in speed.

In the West, a style utilizing the power of fire and natural strength to overwhelm one's opponent was born. Style Gekisa is taught and Academa Gekisha.

In the East, Style Kyuza in one that emphasizes gentle physical force, but intense bursts of Chi with each strike. Academa Kyuza overlooks the Eastern Great Sea.

In the Southern Reaches of the continent, style Terra focuses on endurance, making the foe waste his energy while expending as little as possible, taught at Academa Terra.

Of course, if one wanted to, he or she was perfectly free to go about with their lives. Becoming either a mage or a fighter wasn't nessecarily required.

-At Present-

Currently, each of the Ancient Territories is presided over by a council of six. A High mage, from Magus Academa, A Priestess over the corresponding element of her home, The master of the Academy Combat of the territory, and three others of high influence, or wealth.

Lo and behold, thanks to the perfection of the Blame Game among humans, each territory is blaming the others for a disturbance in the Chi flow.

The real reason? Chi Necros, Dark Chi, is beginning to flood the continent. It's too subtle for all but the strongest to sense, however, the strongest are so busy in childlike bickering, they havent noticed it.

Thankfully, the Magus Academa isn't so hindered. They were able to discern the real cause, but rather than let the respective councils of the territories deal with it, they sent a silent call to all Priests, Priestesses, Mages, and Warriors of all styles whom have a successful bond to an Elementae to come to Zephyr and learn of the subtle plot and perhaps put an end to it.

-Elementae-

I realize that I have been speaking of Elementae, without explaining what exactly they are.

To put it simply, they are the manifestation of The four Main Chi Elements

A Sylph is a manifestation of Wind Chi,
A Gnome is the Manifestation of Earth Chi,
The Undine is the Manifestation of Water Chi,
And The Salamander is the Manifestation of Fire Chi.

-Elementae Forms-

Each Elementae can possess one of three Forms, Spirit, Drae, and Morta form.

In the Spirit form, each Elementae appears in a humanshape manifestation of their respective element (Sylph=Air, Undine=water, Salamander=Fire, Gnome=Earth). This is the form that appeared during a summoning Ritual.

In Drae form, the Elementae becomes a very small dragon. No more than Two feet from nose to tail, in a color representative of their element. Undi=Blue
Sala=Red
Gno=Green
Syl=Silver

Also, they can use their respectiveChi in the form of Breath.
Sal: Fire
Und: Ice
Syl: Air (In the form of gusts from beating their wings)
Gno: Poison

In Morta form, Elementae shift into the likeness of a mortal male or female. They can choose to look like a child, or a full grown adult. The only two differences are:
1: They are no more than four feet tall
2: They have no actual weight.

(Note: The summoning process is the calling of an Elementae into this plane. Rather than making the mistake of forcing the bond, the Elementae put the summoner through a test. If the person passes, then the spirit form enters the summoner's body, bestowing an awesome power. The spirit form cannot show itself until it's bonded one's death, or if it is forced out.

On the other hand, if the summoner fails...the results are NOT pretty.)

-Relation Of Chi and the Classes-

True enough, Chi can be used by anyone, however, it's efficency and manifestation varies from class to Class.

For instance, While Priests and Priestesses are exceptional Healers as well as defenders, in no way can they use Chi to attack.

Warrior Classes usually Use their weapons as a medium for harnessing their Chi. It should be noted that fighting weapons were not originally created for Chi Manipulation, thus they normally don't allow High level Spells without risk of one losing his or her weapon Only spells of an offensive or defensive nature can be attempted, as they are usually quick to come. Furthermore, being tools of combat, healing spells are impossible.

Also noted, that the wielder's focus is so tuned with their Combat Art, any more than Four mastered spells will lead to much more harm than good.

Mages on the other hand, their mediums ARE designed for Chi Manipulation, allowing them freedom of most any Offensive or Defensive spell, depending on the wielder's mental Willpower. Again, Healers are the only ones that can use Chi to perform healing spells.

4: Feel Romantic? I honestly don't mind. It's a part of life, but if you feel the need to go a bit deeper, please take it to a PM. There may be young-un's about.

6: As for battles, this ties in to rule one. Please be fair. In the Recruitment thread, there is a Section called 'The Relation of Chi and Classes'. That is there for a reason, mainly because of posts like this:

"X was breathing heavily, a long gash in his side. He closed his eyes, muttering a spell to himself. The slash wound began to close, bathed in a green light..."
