Yomi
Under Gaia's crust.
Shinto legend has it that somewhere there is a cave that one will lead you to the underworld - Yomi. This is why so many demons are able to get into our world so easily. However, this cave is said to have been sealed up by Izanagi, only allowing the spirit to pass through and nothing more.
This cave is actually guarded by a shrine heavily, to make sure no one opens it. That is because if they ever did the terrible Seventh Generation Grand Negative Kami would return to the land and slaughter many. Inside this cave, as previously mentioned, is Yomi at the planet's core. A dark land with a portal which shines directly to Takamagahara.
This land is the realm of repentance. For a countless number of sins one has commited, one can enter this realm if they wish to make up for their sin, and to one day enter the realm of Takamagahara, the paradise of the Positive Grand Kami.
Legend has it, this land is even worse than the August Star itself, because one is not given free will. Instead, the mortal spirit is tortured, and ripped apart again and again while only being able to hop to repent for their sins. Even so, there are some spirits that break and choose to remain in Yomi to satisfy their sadistic, or masochistic desires.

The Land Yomi
The vast expanse of a dark mirrow world.Inside of Yomi is a world that mirrows that of Takamagahara. Darkened, granted, but for as far as the eye can see is lush grass and pools of an unknown substance.
However, unlike the crystalline waters of Takamagahara, the rivers and lakes flow with molen lava, where many mortal spirits can be seen 'bathing' while the creatures of Izanami's hell push them back into the molten liquid so they may repent for their dark deeds. Needless to say, the path to return to the light is a long one.
Far away from the grass and molten lava is a kingdom which has the appearance of the Takamagahara kingdom, however one can best bet that life here is much harder. Inside of the walls of this Kingdom one can find theft, fights breaking out, people struggling to live. Even the mortal spirit trying to get by, only to wait for their turn to be tortured next.
Unlike Takamagahara, the creatures here are vicious and cruel, ready to tear flesh away from the body to devour it. Perhaps yet another torture of the Kingdom of Yomi? However, as a sign of their good faith that they will repent, a glowing portal to Takamagahara is always glowing with a bright magenta glow, casting a purple light down upon the land. It takes the shape of four Magatama swirling slowly.

Inside of the Kingdom you will find..Beto Beto-san: A creature with an obscure shape, who is colored like the shadows. It is said to be, at first, a very gentle and patient creature who refuses to walk ahead of anyone without permission. However, when it's patients wear thin, it is not foreign to eating someone's soul. If one detects it's presence, it is best to step out of their way and ask them to go ahead politely.Mekurabe: Now and again, one will be able to see skulls rolling across the ground. These are the Mekurabe, or skulls of the demons who have perished at the Grand Kami's hands who turned against their leaders and have been turned into a lowly skull to roam and roll for all eternity. However, their age is one which is older than the dust itself, and because of this if they do not spout nasty words, they will give wise words of advice instead.
Away from the molten lava you will find..Kamaitachi: Demon weasles with sickles for their hands. Make no mistake, for lowly beasts they are quite intelligent and are able to easily overpower even the demons of Izanami's court. They are greedy, blood thirsty creatures who travel in packs of three. Their common tactic is for one to knock their prey over, the second to slice it, the final to deliver the finishing blow.Ittanmomen: Long wisps of strong cotton which are said to wrap themselves around the head of their prey to suffocate it. Why do they do this? It is unknown, but it is suggested they are simply sadistic creatures who lik to watch as their prey struggle to fight against death.Jubokko: Like the Kodama in the sense they are nature spirits who often posess trees, and live inside them. However, these trees and creatures grew on the carnage and blood filled land of Yomi and thus have turned evil. They are vicious trees who will slaughter a creature before them to drink up their blood.
Around the molten lava you will find..Ushioni: Creatures which take the form of a spider, a crab, a bull, and a human. They have the hide to be able to sit within the pools of lava to wait for something to eat to scamper by. Needless to say their shell is strong and near impossible to break.Ippondatara: A very rare sight in Yomi, because of their nature alone. They are kind, but shy and skiddish creatures who are more likely to run away to find a place to hide rather than to sit and converse with someone. They are fuzzy creatures with one leg and one large green eye, as well as two tiny claws. It is said that they are master swordsmiths who will make a blade from the shell of an Ushioni if one can befriend them.

The Kingdom of Yomi's Heirarchy
From Izanami to the lowly mortal spirit.
Yomi, much like Takamagahara, is a single empire built on a single heirarchy of many different levels of citizenship. However, unlike Takamagahara, the castle is not closed off from the mortal spirits. Perhaps it is Izanami who stole these spirits from Izanagi, but she is mor compassionate. Especially considering the fact she is one of the torturers. It is in this Kingdom a certain level of understanding and compassion can be found. The hardships of life are clearly illustrated here, after all.

As you can see above, even like that of Takamagahara's heirarchy it is split into four different classes. However, Yomi's is slightly different in the sense there are those who are more important, even over the gards of her castle. They will be introduced later on. For now, we have the..
Grand Kami of Yomi: The Seventh Generation Grand Kami of Yomi, they are the forces behind the negativity in the world. The illness, the death. Legend has it that death was originally a foreign idea until Izanami parted ways with Izanagi, stating that every day she would kill one thousand of his people. The Grand Kami of Yomi are: The Negativity, the Darkness, the Flame, the Storm, and the Thunder.
The Ladies of the Court: Because of what happened with her foremer husband, Izanagi, Izanami has become very untrusting of the male sex. Because of this, the highest up in the heirarchy outside of her children are the Ladies of the Court. These were the women who chased Izanagi away in terror when he visited Yomi. Each of them has their own ability, and is led by the wise old women of the Aonyobo.
The Castle Workers: The soldiers, the guards, all of them belong in this rank. They are the ones who keep the peace around the castle, and aid the Five Grand Negative Kami in their tortures. However, unlike Takamagahara, there are only four of them. However, they do indeed pull their weight.
The Peasants: The peasants are the mortal spirits who are still facing their tortures of repentance. They often take the shape of a Hitodama, or ball of flame, because of the fact their spiritual flesh has been burned away, left to regenerate. However, they do have the ability to take a transparent form of their mortal self. They are kept in check by the Yamaoroshi, although they often tend to sleep on the job or allow the mortal spirits to do as they please.

The Five Negative Elements
Negativity, darkness, fire, storm, and thunder.
Izanami: The mother of the Seventh Generation Grand Kami, she was born together with Izanagi with the purpose of contrsucting a world together and maintaining their existence. However it was when their child, Kagutsuchi, was born. The flames of his body burned her from the inside and out, and by default she was sent to Yomi. Izanagi chased after he after slaying Kagutsuchi, however when he found that she had been tainted by the dark land, he abandoned her and exiled her from Takamagahara. She chased him out of her domain with the aid of the Ladies of the Court.
Izanami, having regenerated her flesh, is now as beautiful as she always had been. Long, flowing black hair and flesh which appears not to have aged at all. She is often garbed in a robe darker than the twilight of the August Star, with her hair tied up in a bun.
Tsukiyomi: The ugly moon when compared to the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu. He is the young man who controls the darkness and shadows of the moon, as well as the creatures of darkness. However, even so he is beautiful with a face which matches that of Amaterasu, literally. Born as twins, he has taken her place many times in the past. However, because he slayed the Goddess of Food, Uke-Mochi, he was exiled from Takamagahara at Amaterasu's hand.
Tsukiyomi is garbed in a gray robe, with a straw hat always obscuring his features. With him, he carries the katana he used to slay the food Goddess.
Kagutsuchi: The God of Flames, and the child who was exiled from Takamagahara for slaying his mother during birth with his flames. However, it was not intentional. He loves his mother dearly, and is perhaps the most protective of the Mistess Izanami.
Kagutsuchi, unlike his siblings, was born outside of a humanoid form. A long, white dragon with flames spouting from his claws. His humanoid form, which doesn't appear often outside of when he's wandering the castle's chambers, are that of an albino. White hair, and pale pink eyes. He is, fittingly enough, clothed in a whie robe with red details.
Fujin: The great demon of wind and storm. It is he who brings the rainfall within Yomi, it is he who brings the snow in Yomi. Indeed, he is the great green beast who is the master of Yomi's weather, and also the weather within the mortal world when the chance is given to him. Fujin, like Raiden, was not born of either Izanagi or Izanami. He was born of the August Star's Oni, and chose to join Izanami with Raiden at his side.
Fujin, as previously noted, is a green oni with the traditional leopard print loin cloth. However, unlike his brothers on the August Star he is rather intelligent, although his gluttony still remains. It is said he was one of the children of Yasha.
Raiden: Raiden, like his brother Fujin, controls the weather. However, he controls a small aspect - but one of much beautiful. The thunder as it rolls, and the lightning as it flashes. All of this is done by his hand, and his drums. Raiden, is a purple oni who naturally wears the leopard print loincloth.
Raiden, unlike his brother, is more gluttonous and lacks the brains. However the duo have become what they see as one existence, and if they needed to, they would stand against Izanami to protect eachother.

The Ladies of the Court
The women of death.Like on the Takamagahara page, I feel it is worthy to note that all characters from this point are playable.Aonyobo: These women are the highest of the court. Although they are not the most beautiful compared to the lower ranking ladies, with them they carry an elegance all their own. Each step is calculated to appear to be poetry in motion, and the way their robe flows has the ability to inspire art work. Becaue of how horrible their face is, with stretched lips and wrinkles galore they often wear a mask to cover it.
______________________________________________________________Rokurokubi: They have the appearance of fair young women. Their bodies are perfectly normal, their faces are beautiful. They carry themselves with elegance, and hide nothing from those around them. However, it is unknown how this happened to them, but they are able to stretch their necks to unimaginable lengths.
______________________________________________________________Futakuchi-Onna: These women are perhaps the most grotesque and frightful of the Ladies of the Court. The reason behind this is because of the mouth which has appeared on the back of their head. Hungry, starving even, it is said that these creatures are actually two in one. A child who starved to death, and the woman who caused them to starve to death. Their hair becomes the child's hands, constantly reaching out for food to feast on. It is said that they are not foreign to eating young men.
______________________________________________________________Harionago: Born of the spirit of vain young women who cared more about their appearance rather than their true priorities. Their faces have become grotesque with a wide grin and piercing eyes. However, because of this, the condition of their hair has remained the same. Long, beautiful, strong. They have the ability to control this hair and use it as weaponry, even as hooks to pierce the flesh and rip it to pieces.
______________________________________________________________Jorogumo: Beautiful women by day, hideous creatures by night with a body which is half woman and half spider. It is said they were once posessive women who would not let their children leave the house and killed their husband for looking at other women. Because of this, they have the ability to create webs and eat their mates.

The Castle Workers
Error! Subtext unable to be loaded.Aoandon Thist ghastly beast is said to appear in the mortal realm whenever a group of people play the game Hyaku Monogatari, or One Hundred Stories. However in the underworld the Aoandon is a rather common creature to be found. They often stalk the halls hunting down any unwanted guests that may drop by. they are the vicious shadow hunters of the Yomi Castle, and are known for a swift death before even the blue flames which pour out of the bottom of their robes can be seen.Kinjo, Atora______________________________________________________________Nue The Nue are the complete opposite of Takamagahara's Hakutaku. They are beastly creatures who are known for bring with them many illnesses. They are the soldiers of Izanami's kingdom, the brutes able to take down any foe they find. Legend has it the venom from their snake like tail has the ability to change how the nerve endings take in pain, and make it that of a pleasurable experience. Addictingly so.______________________________________________________________Negoro no UshioniThe Negoro no Ushioni are the guards of Izanami's castle, Negoro for short. They are brutal and quick creatures, although maybe not so much mentally. However they are loyal to their cause and are likely not to let anyone who appears to be suspicious pass the gates.______________________________________________________________Otoroshi Another set of guards for the castle of Yomi. These beasts remain hidden until the last second where they pounce on anyone with malicious intent. They are grotesque and ugly creatures at first glance, however.. Fittingly enough, when they show themselves completly, their size matches their uglyness.

The Mortal Spirits
Those who repent for their sins.HitodamaThe hitodama is the physial form of the immortal soul, whether they be from mortal of demon. A flame which seems to be ever afloat. This is the form those who repent take when their flesh has been torn away from them. It is during this time, however, they are able to at the very least take the form of their body - although transparent.

Sine I'm getting tired of repeating this in what feels like every creature, I'll go ahead and explain it here instead. All those really weird character options I have listed? They are all shape shifters. They have their mortal form, and then their demon form. So these characters really aren't so hard to play.
Naturally, the only gender specific characters we have here are the Ladies of the Court, unless you want to play a transvestite. I'm sure most of you don't. -Cackle.-

Running Plot Lines
The lava boils!
Enter the underworld, Yomi, and read what goes on within the depths of the endless cave of darkness and torment. The Negoro who hunted the Aoandon Presently, the Negoro known as Alexander is chasing after the shadow bending soul named Atora. How long, exactly, this chase has gone on is unknown but they are slowly making their way towards the inner city. Citizens are beginning to be disturbed, and property is sure to be broken if they get that far.
