You hear of hundreds of wolves, and rats, and hyenas... but the leopards seem small in number.
She names a few, but are they all of them?
I know you never hear about others... But if the leopards were used to help punish the wolves, at Raina and Gabriel's insistance, then wouldn't that mean that there should be more of them?
And I'm talking about before Micah's pard joins Anita's... Although, even then, after their pards are joined, you still get the impression that there should be more than are actually named.
Anyone agree?

I totally agree, it seems LKH focuses on only a few of the leopards. There must be more because we get the imperssion there is - but we have never been introduced to them. It makes me think that Anita may not know all the leopards either confused

I don't know if there are more or not. In Burnt Offerings it said that all the wereleopards were called to the Circus by Padma & Elizabeth brought them all there. And there were only a handfull, so I thought we have met them all that were in St. Louis. But I honestly don't know. About the fact that they were used to punish the wolves, I don't think it was their numbers that were used against the wolves. I think Raina being the wolves' lupa had the power to use just a few leopards to strike fear into the wolves. Because it wasn't the numbers, it was what they were willing to do to the wolves that was what caused fear.

I'm with Narniakat on this one, a small group lead by agressive dominants can create a lot of havoc on a group. And I think alot of the punishing that they leopards were used in was in the porno vids, I assume that the situation would go along the lines of Raina would have some of her wolves bring the naugties puppies to the studio and they she, Gabriel and the leopards would go to town on them.

Yeah, that makes sense. The wolves are a large group, and so are the rats and hyenas, but the leopards seem to be more of a small, close-knit bunch. 3nodding

I would think that Gabriel and Elizabeth would've made more wereleopards...but it seems like they could only have so much so that a deal wouldn't be broken with Narcissus and the other wereanimal packs around St.Louis. I'm sure there would've been more, but I think Gabriel had enough that he could handle, (you know Anita doesn't want more than what her and Micah have). But I'm almost sure that Gabriel would've made more if it wasn't for a deal of limited numbers.

I'm sure there's a lot...just hanging around somewhere. But I have the feeling if there were more, that the plot would get confusing and people living in St Louis would notice the depopulation of bunnies and rabbits and an excess of wolves, leopard, and hyenas in the woods. xd

I'm wiling to bet that there's gonna be more trickling in in the next few books, good or bad guys. The leopards are just too big a part of the series to leave them in such small numbers. It'll throw things into chaos and everyone loves a good bit of random chaos now and then
