Tain stirred, his pale blue eyes fluttering open. The air was still brisk and the den was dark, causing him to shiver slightly and press closer to his siblings for warmth. The cub closed his eyes, pressing his brown nose into his brother's fur.

After several minutes he found that he could not go back to sleep, so he yawned and lifted himself up, his striped tail flicking from side to side. Peering out the mouth of the den, he found that the sun was barely looking over the horizon. A mischevious grin spread across his lips and, looking back to make sure his parents were still asleep, he snuck out quietly.

The grass was still damp with cold dew and with every few steps, he'd lift a paw and shake it off. How exciting! He felt like the king of the world, able to do anything he pleased without having to worry about his parents being upset. With little effort to remain quiet, he began to leap through the grass, giggling occasionally. What fun!

Auri's eyes blinked open slightly dazed at a noise she did not recognize but one that woke her all the same. Giggling. That's what it was. And it was Tain, her older brother.

She gave a sigh and closed her eyes again for a few minutes. All her brothers were older than her. She was the baby, just like her mother had been before the new babies had come. Her aunts and uncles.
Funny.
They were the same age, pretty much.

Her green eyes flickered open and she yawned, trotting toward the den entrance and looking out into the sunlight.

Moyo and Kiwi hadn't really taken them outside much, so Tain frolicking around was definitely tattle-tale material. She grinned slyly at first at the prospect.

Tain was her second oldest brother, and therefore the middle victim to tattle on. But he was always the one that treated her the nicest, so she guessed she wouldn't tell on him. For now, anyways.

Tain continued to leap around, taking pleasure in the cool dew on his paws. He continued to giggle lightly, his blue eyes falling upon a butterfly that fluttered through the air. With a mishevious grin, he began to pounce after it, batting at it with his paws. He let out a soft, cublike growl and flopped onto his back, looking up at the lightening sky.

He heard the stir of a sibling and he was instantly alert. If one of his brothers caught him out here... Tain lifted his eyes and looked to the mouth of the den, sighing with relief when he found that it was only his little sister. "Hey Auri!" he called brightly, grinning. "Are you gonna come play, or what?"

Auri snorted slightly, sitting at the edge of the cave, tail twitching.

"Come play what?" she called back, looking around a bit. The sun was coming up; her rays shone and lit up the entire pridelands in its natural beauty.

A few more butterflies skitterd past, intent on landing on flowers and looking as pretty as they did. Auri was fascinated with them. The colors, the quick, rapid wing beatings...

She looked over at her brother warily.

"We're not going to hurt the flutterbyes, are we?"

While the idea of practicing real hunting on the butterflies made him smile mischeviously, he really wanted someone to play with, and decided not to do something that would obviously make Auri upset. "Noooo," he said, giggling. "I was just playin'!"

Tain rolled over onto his stomach, getting up to his paws. "We should play a game!" he said brightly, although he didn't have the faintest idea of what game to play.

Auri glanced at her brother, a smile beginning to form on her face.
"A game? Like Tag or Find 'n Seek?" the excitement in her voice slowly inched up on the volume dial, escalating with the prospect of playing something with just the two of them. Having three siblings--all boys, especially--often created hectic situations for the only daughter.

But Tain was fun, and patient with her, so playing a game with him had its merit, and she was ready to test exactly how much it held.

Oooh! "Yeah, that second one!" he said, puffing his chest out. "Can I hide first? Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease?" Tain widened his eyes at her, puppy-dog style, before running off without waiting for her answer.

He giggled to himself as he scrambled into a tiny crevice in a rock wall. It was a tight squeeze, but he managed to get in, and he settled down, waiting with a grin.

Tain didn't even give her a chance to pout and whine about her hiding first; so she just rolled her eyes, turned around, sat, and placed a paw over her eyes.
"One..."
She began, slowly making her way to twenty, and giving him extra time to hide--though it wasn't like he needed it, the little speedrunner.
"Nineteen...Twenty!"
Done! Now it was time to search...
Slinking low to the ground, like Mother had been teaching her, she crouched and slowly approached one side of the boulder-embedded, rock wall. There were many crevices a little lion could squeeze into, and she planned to look into each and every one of them before she found him.
