Wether it is Sin or not, I cannot say, but teh Bible makes it clear that all are precious to God, and to take your own life is definately not what God would want. I would suggest this site to any and all who are wondering this...

What you have to realize about suicide, whether it is a sin or not, is that it causes terrible pain for the people left behind. I lost a mom-figure to suicide almost a year ago, and the amount of pain and suffering the whole Drama department went through was terrible--a good amount of us went through boughts of depression and a few lapsed into self-mutilation....It was probably the darkest time in my life, and I'm not sure I would have made it without God and my faith in him.
I was talking about it with a friend a while after it happened, and she said that when she was praying about it, she came to the conclusion that our friend had lost a battle with a demon. And it made sense to me....it fit. But I still struggle with whether or not she's in heaven. I've yet to find any Scriptures about it.

Wherever sin goes, tragedy isn't far behind. Sin IS what causes all suffering and pain. A nice present to humanity from the devil after the fall of Adam and Eve.
Your life is not yours to take. Here's what the Bible says about it, I think it's in Romans. You were purchased at a price by the saving blood of Christ and He bought us into freedom. Our bodies our not our own but rental property. When we keep ourselves as living sacrifices and live for God, that's how we honor Him as well. When we sin against ourselves, we sin against God. Notice that anything God deems as a sin is destructive to us and others around us in some way shape or form?
So I'd say yeah, suicide is a sin, just like substance abuse, sexual sin, or any other self damaging behaviour. He doesn't want us to take what we can't give back. He doesn't want us to harm ourselves, He wants us to lean on Him so that He can pour out His grace on us. God desires to be in fellowship with us. heart and he has a purpose for every individual, a fulfilling and blessed one. Suicide is like aborting yourself, when who knows how many of those millions of aborted babies WANTED to live. The Bible says that God hates the hands that sheds innocent blood, more evidence that life is not ours to take, even our own. He has a plan for our hope, life, and salvation.
His will is for us to have life abundantly while we're here and life eternal. The Bible makes it clear what His will for us is all the time. It's His will 'that not one of these little ones perish'.
Hope I helped wink
Any thoughts?

I believe it is a sin. A flat out sin, however I can't think of my reasoning behind this. I believe there is a verse about it. I'll try and find it and/or give you my reasoning when I get the time.

Ok, to begin with, please forgive my rustiness in actual bible knowledge, as I have not owned a bible in years now (not out of sacrilige mind you, I ended up losing a LOT of my possessions after moving out of my parent's place shortly after graduating, and what I didn't lose at that point I lost later on in poor weather conditions... long story short I've still yet to get a great deal of those things back, and a bible is on my list.)
Well THAT was longer than it should have been... stare
In my own personal opinion/belief, yes, suicide is most certainly a sin. If memory serves me, God says that we are to keep our bodies pure and whole, as our hearts and bodies are his temple and resting place. If we commit such an act as suicide, we voluntarily force the god given breath of life from us, and we defile his temple by self mutilization, or whatever means someone might go through to commit such a terrible act (normally though, it entails something with very unpleasant result.) Yeah... so anyway... my two cents. God, please show mercy and have someone to tell me to shut up now... xp

*pat* aw Black P! biggrin Don't be so hard on yurself!
What you said is correct and isn't JUST your personal opinion. That's Scriptural ^^, the Word o' God wink
This here *holds up hand* is rental property! Your temple. It ties in with the end of the priesthood. The temple where we can now fellowship with God is right here, our hearts, minds, and bodies.
Back in the day before Christ, the people used to have to rely on priests to purify themselves and talk to God FOR them in the tabernacle. To intercede on their behalf. (Genisis-Exodus) But now Christ sits at the right hand of God and interceded for us via communication with the Holy Spirit, (our open link to fellowship with God).
Remember when after Christ died on the cross, the sky got dark and there was a horrible earthquake? In the temple in Jerusalem, the super thick holy curtain got RIPPED in half by God from top to bottom. The curtain that separated the priest's intercession and pure area from the rest of the world. God flung OPEN the doors to fellowship with Him.
Besides, Suicide is a horrible lie of the devil. He DOESN'T WANT us to have fellwoship with God (*coughjealous*) so he'll pump as many suicidal or self-damaging tendencies period into someone's head and heart. He'll tell you no one loves you, you can't do anything right let alone serve God, you're worthless, ...I used to fall for it. stare

Good job Tazi and thank you Snuff for asking 3nodding I do know it is a sin because for whatever reason you are taking your life you are practically saying to God " I am taking my life into my own hands and not letting YOU take care of me" It is disobeying God saying that you can control your own life and you are also destroying the temple of God...Anways this is my first post in the guild^^ Praying for you Snuff!

Its a sin. because its Gods job to decide who lives and who dies, not ours. and by killing yourself, your not only comiting murder but idolizing yourself.
