Cognates, as most of you probably know already, are words that are related closely to (and thus sound like) words in another language. One will start off a word and someone else will try to find a cognate of it - once they do, they post it and then post a new word for someone to try to find cognitively. Example:
English: father -> German: Vater Dutch: moeder -> English: mother
or
Spanish: máquina -> Italian: macchina English: view -> Spanish: vista
I'll start off with a trifle, completely obvious cognate...
