The pope scolded Canada for allowing Same-Sex marriage and Abortion.

That's actually really upsetting. Not that I particularily care what he has to say, but it's just that the Conservatives in power. With their religion and traditional family values, what the Pope has to say could actually influence them. Not only might the government itself feel the need to change it, a majority of the Christian citizens may revoke against the government until they do.

Seriously people really need to stop allowing others to tell them what to believe and allow(which when you think about it is exactly what religion does... at least with roman catholics and the like)

I'm really disappointed that the Pope isn't as great as the last one, even if I'm an atheist. He shouldn't be bashing Canada, that's for sure! Why doesn't he bash countries that support wars (aka deaths of already-living people, versus abortion which is in fact suppression of a possible, not-living being).
I do hope that Stephen Harper doesn't go through with the whole debating again. It'd just be a waste of time, and yet another way to piss off Canadians. neutral I think some people need to have their priorities sorted out rolleyes

My sister reads stuff on apocolyptic signs, and apparently the pope we've got now (who, to me, personally looks like a gremlin) is one of the first in a line of popes, that will bring about the end of the world. Apparently in like seven or something popes the world will cease to exist.
It's because of assinine things like this, seriously, how hard is it if the person isn't killing things to simply say "That's what they believe, I can't change them, so I should stop trying to force my beliefs onto them." and cease killing and trying to change people?
I suppose it's alot easier said then done since violence is human nature, but still. *sighs and shakes head* What a bloomin pain in the arse, I want to move to Scotland dammit. Out in the middle of pretty no-where with lots of rain and old crumbling castles, I won't give a brass farthing over what they say. Now I just got to get a significant other to share my exile with.

i think this pope is way too backwards for the sake of the church. he messes up way too many times. Instead of scolding people he should donate all his jewels and robes, he is way too wealthy for a mere "servent of God" as he calls himself.
I was brought up a catholic. Now I am an atheist, not because i am "bisexual" but because organized religion is the worst thing that has happened to human kind .

Doesn't Canada realise they get tourism from gay marriage! Where will all the gays congrigate? CANADA! I wish they would legalise it in Australia. As for the pope its kinda his job to complain about people. Even if i disagree with it.

whatev. Harper wouldn't have been able to do anything anyway since he's a minority not a majority. Thank God for that. and so what the pope bashes us (I'm Canadian) he's no less human than the rest of us, and he certianly doesn't replace God in any way, shape or form. Let him judge us, for the bible says judge and be judged, for no other being should pass judgement but God.

it's true.
Besides once things become a Bill of rights (or whatever it's called.. haven't been in school for a bit) they can't just take it out again.
But I'm glad Harper is a minority, and it seems like we might be having another election by spring, god I hope he gets voted out. I hate the conservatives, I'm either voting for the Liberals or the Green Party.
But I remember when Gay Marriage became legal.. they announced it on the radio the next day and my girlfriend and I heard it, and ended up smiling and celebrating biggrin lol
