It was late in the day, just at that stage where it was difficult to decide whether it was more proper to say 'Good Afternoon' or 'Good Evening'. Overcast, and a bit chilly, it was just the sort of weather that made Earako feel comfortable with being outside, though habit still had her carrying her parasol, shading herself from the distant and hidden sun.

She was nervous, and Vimber, the sleek streak of fire at her side seemed equally on edge. She hadn't wanted to go out, not alone. It didn't feel safe to be alone anymore. And sure, Da' was only a few doors down, looking at sharp, dangerous things, but he'd insisted that she was more than old enough to venture off to the fabric store by herself. Mostly, she thought he didn't want to be stuck looking.

She tried not to think about it, as she pushed the door open and heard the delicate ringing of familiar bells. It wasn't her first time visiting, and the people who worked there had even gotten pretty good at hiding how nervous Vimber made them. She couldn't imagine why, but maybe everyone wasn't as used to dragons as she was, now.

It was almost soothing to be inside, the familiar array of multicolour fabrics, every texture offering itself up to be touched, every colour begging to be admired. She worked her way over to the section with trim first, admiring various lengths of lace. She had a form in mind, but colours escaped her, leaving her comparing red lace against blue.

Similiarly Ligeia was dropped off to do his thing as well while his father and brother told him that they would be at another store. Ligeia wasn't really bothered, in fact just the fact that he was allowed to come here alone while dressed up as he was was a good sign that his father was finally getting over his initial shock over Ligeia's mode of dress. The owl child pushed the door open to peek inside the store, giving a little jump at the bells before walking on in. He looked around, at all the fabric and supplies and found himself rather lost. He knew what he was here for but not where it was located.

He chewed on his lip a moment before he decided that he would just wander around until he found what he was looking for. Gave him time to see what all else was in here aside from things on his list as well. He was a beginer where all of this sewing stuff was concerned but he wasn't doing to bad. He was wearing one of the shirts he'd 'fixed' having to take off the back of it so that his wings could fit through, a cute blue shirt with a star on the front. The three blues colored, striped toe socks he wore he'd modified as well by cutting off the toes so that his talons wouldnt' rip them up and with them his cute pair of sandels. The swishing shirt that was a darker blue he'd only fixed enough so that his tail feathers would be able to come through a slit in it without showing off anything else.

He'd done a good job but that was just fixing things that were already made. He wanted to... wanted to make his own clothing. It sounded odd and made his father stare at him as if he'd finally lost it but he thought that he coudl do it... maybe.

He started down the next aisle giving a little screeing sound at all of the pretty blue fabrics that they had here! Wow!

It was the happy scree that turned Earako away from her contemplation of multi-coloured lace. The sound didn't 'fit' in the store, and jumpy as she was at the moment, it was enough to make her glance nervously over her shoulder to find where it'd come from. It wasn't hard to pinpoint Ligeia, harder to place him. Because she knew she'd met him before.

Earako bit her lip. He was a D-corp kid, that much was obvious, but his name completely escaped her. He had a dragon, and he'd taught them the flying exercise in wingers. Details offered themselves up to her, but still, no name. Hopefully, he wouldn't notice.

Closing her wings comfortably around her, she scratched Vimber gently behind her horns. The dragon, curled at her feet, seemed content to stay where she was, and in the case of another D-corp kid, Earako was okay with that. "'m just gonna go say hi."

She walked over to where he was looking at fabric, carefully straightening out her outfit so that she wouldn't look silly. She was dressed more simply than was usual for her. This was one of the dresses she'd made herself, so it wasn't nearly as splendid as the one's that she'd only altered. The lines were basic, and the skirt, which reached her ankles, had only one layer. Still, she'd managed to add rather a lot of red lace to the black fabric. And she liked the effect.

"Hi."

The owl child jumped as suddenly someone was behind him and he nearly dropped what he was holding. He was able to juggle it though and catch it up to his chest, turning to looking over his shoulder and looked a bit surprised. The surprise melted away into a smile though as he recoginzed someone that he knew from one of his classes. Much better then being approached by someone random that was for sure and he doubted he would know what to say, "Hello." He said, "Earako right?" He was pretty sure that was her name. Names and faces he could place partially because he had seen a lot of his fathers notes on different classes that he'd had.

"Its nice to see you again, its been a while." That crazy day when everyone was trying to learn flying if he remembered correctly. His father still used that class as an example when he was planning them of what not to do. It was a learning experiance for the teacher as well as the students he'd said.

He shifted in his shoes, waiting to see her reaction to what he wore. Mostly to see if everyone would react the same as his brother and father or if more people wouldn't care about his decision of what was fun to wear.

"Right." Earako agreed, when he got her name right, trying not to show how upsetting it was that he could remember who she was, but she just couldn't put a name to him. He had to have one. Everyone had a name. Smiling to hide her nerves, she gave him a quick once over, mostly to take in what he was wearing.

A bit simple, for her tastes, but it looked cute on him.

"Yes. I have my dragon now. She's resting though." A gesture in said dragon's general direction, back by the lace and ribbons. Which reminded her that she needed some of that ribbon with the little mirrors set in it, for Vimber's sake. She wasn't sure exactly what she'd make the dragon, yet, but it'd have to be shiny if it was to satisfy.

Searching for something to say that didn't have anything to do with names, remembered or forgotten, she decided to fall back on the one subject that their surroundings said they must have in common.

"Did you make that skirt?" She asked, moving closer to get a better look at the garment in question. "I like it. It wouldn't look good on me, though."

She wasn't pretty enough to pull of anything quite so simple. But he had feathers with patterns of dark and light, so he could do it.

"Do you? What kind of dragon?" He asked curiously. Vorel had choosen to wait by a large, decorative fountain outside. Part of Ligeia was a little worried about it since last time he'd been near one he'd frozen it over. He wasn't about to try to force him to come along though and could only hope he didn't do the same this time around.

Ligiea's dark eyes went down to the skirt and he shook his head, "I haven't tried to sew something from scratch yet." He said, "Mostly I've started with alterations. I can't find cloths with wing holes already in them." He explained, giving his a little flapping. He wished that he could actually sew something by hand but that would take practice he was sure, "Like it? Really?" He looked both surprised and then excited by that, someone that liked his clothing on him!

He was made a very happy little owl by her three simple words!

"Vimber's a red dragon. She's really sweet, but she's kinda shy around people." Earako glanced in Vimber's direction again, her expression hopeful. But no dragon poked it's head up, which meant that she obviously didn't intend to come over and be friendly. Oh well, she'd get bored eventually, or she'd see something shiny and want it.

"Doing it from scratch isn't too hard." She ran her fingers over her own (relatively) simple dress, feeling seams that she had spent night after night perfecting. "I started by taking apart some of my easier looking dresses for patterns. It's not so different from altering. I have to do that to my dresses too. Da' took me to some special stores that had stuff made for wings. But they didn't have anything pretty."

"It looks nice on you." The albino bat added, more than happy to continue complimenting the boy if it would make him smile. It was the first time she'd really got to talk about sewing with anyone. She'd had to teach herself, despite efforts to find a teacher, and neither her father nor her little sister had any interest in the subject. It was nice, to be around someone who wasn't just nodding at the right time. "Turn around, I what you did for your wings."

"Maybe your Vimber will want to meet my Vorel sometime?" He said, having no idea if that were true or not but he really did think that Vorel needed to meet more dragons, he was sure that the Frost Dragon had met more of the other children then he had the dragons. It worried him, shouldn't a dragon want friends like it?

He looked her dress over, eyes widening a little bit, "Did you make that?" He asked, sounding a bit awed. He was having a trouble keeping his stitches straight and she could do something so amazing as that?! Wow!

A bit of a flush appeared on his cheeks and he gave another, bright smile, "Thank you." He said, turning and moved his wings so that his work could be seen. It was very simpley done. He had cut out a simple shape from the back for his wings to go out and then folded it over the edges and did a simple seem, "The stitches are a little crooked." He admitted, it was one of his first attempts but he'd thought that it came out rather well.

"She'd love too!" Earako said, absolute confidence in her words. She could be a little shy around other dragons, but Earako remembered Vorel. Vorel was sweet, and certainly wouldn't startle poor Vimber like meeting Anoki's dragon had.

Even as she spoke, she examined Ligeia's handwork, only nodding absently in admission of making the dress. She knew her own work, it was seeing someone elses that had her exicted now. Reaching out, she traced her finger lightly above the stitches, before moving so that she once again faced the boy. "Just a little. But they're still sturdy, and what's important is that it doesn't fall apart.

"I've got a few dresses done like that, but this one I did different." Without waiting to be invited, she turned to show her back, glancing awkwardly over one shoulder so that she could still see him. She'd put in two slits for her wings, long enough to allow them to fit through easily, then sewn in zippers, so that the dress could, more or less 'close' around her wings. The idea was a good one, but having three zippers down the back did look a bit odd. "I think maybe if I cover the wing zippers with lace or something, it'll be better."

"Thats great, Vorel is outside hopefully not destroying another fountain. Maybe after we are done here we can let he meet?" He asked then listened to what she was saying. That was encouraging to hear that his stitches were if nothing else sturdy. That was a good start.

He stepped closer to look over the back of the dress that she was showing him, it seemed to be an interesting way to do it, a good one too, "Wow." He murmured, he wondered if he could figure out how to do something like that, "How did you learn to do things like that?" Maybe she had some tips that she could share, maybe some books that she had read that she could point him towards?

"Mmhm. Vimber might be sleepy now, but I'm she'll be excited when she realizes that there's another dragon to meet." It worked for her. Even when she was in a bad mood, the chance to meet a friend always made life seem good. And Vimber was just like her, so it'd be great. Which meant they had to get their shopping done.

"I got some books on sewing. They sell them here." She frowned a bit, remember the long hours reading and pricked fingers. It was the reading she'd really hated. Scholastic pursuits usually bored her quickly. "Some of them are hard and confusing, but I really wanted to learn, and I couldn't find a teacher."

Turning to the rows of fabric she stood behind, Earako ran her finger along a blue satin that quickly caught her eye. "I'm looking for lace today, what about you?"

He nodded, "Could you show me where they keep their books?" He asked, not knowing his way around and it seemed that she had been here more then once, she would be the best one to ask about the place aside from actually going up to one of the people that worked here. He retained a little bit of the shyness he had when he was younger and it applied to people that weren't part of D-Corp.

"I came in for more thread, I ran out of a couple colors. Then again it was just luck that there was any to have to begin with. My father isn't that good at anything like that, he only used the thread to repair a toy that my brother liked." Liked and chewed holes in, "I have money to pick up other things as well."

He just hadn't been sure what else it was that he wanted to get, though some of the blue fabrics he found himself liking. Maybe if he got a book that explained patterns and some of the blue fabric to make things from? His wings gave a little flutter of delight at the idea.

"Oh, they're over here!" Earako reached out to Ligeia, trying to capture his hand so that she could properly lead him in the right direction. The books and patterns were kept in the same corner of the store.

"My Da' doesn't sew at all." It was a matter of great disappointment to her, and she could only imagine how much better she'd be at sewing if only she'd had lessons. She'd probably be able to make really complex dresses, instead of only simple ones like the one she was wearing.

"You've got a brother? I've got a sister. And lots of cousins, mostly." She prattled happily as she made her way through the store, navigating easily, barely looking.

The book section was mostly shelves against the walls, with one table for looking through pattern books. "The patterns are here too. I haven't used many of them, though."

Ligeia looked down at his hand then allowed himself to be lead along, smiling a little. It was always nice as he alway worried over his hands since he had talons on them, he didn't want to scratch anyone again. Her taking his hand like that was... nice.

"MmmHmm. Ter is kinda... odd but hes not a... bad brother." He said, pausing a couple times to think on how to word things. He liked Ter even though the snake boy was hard to get along with at times.

Ligeia looked up at the wall of books, eyes going a bit wide as he looked them over, "Any books that are good for beginners that you recommend?" He asked, glancing over at Earako, seeming to be looking for guidance from her as she knew what she was doing.

"My cousins are weird. Savius lets me sew for him." Earako admitted, even as she scanned the book shelves thoughtfully, biting at her lip, "But my sister is alright. Mostly."

That was apparently all the bat had to say on the subject of family for the moment, she was quite distracted by the task of creating a pile of books, holding them awkwardly in one arm as she continued to scan the shelves. When she had a pile of four, she stopped, turning back to Ligeia.

"These are the ones I have that I like." She explained, holding the pile out to him. The books' spines displayed their titles: Sewing Basics, Easy Skirts and Dresses, The How To Of Do It Yourself Fashion, and Creative Sewing 101.
