It's hard to post anything substantial about the series without spoilers...
A group of scientists and colonists on a distant planet excavate 3 machines that combine into the Legendary Giant God Ideon, THE most powerful mecha in all of anime, period. The colonists are chased across the galaxy by the Buff Clan, who want the Ideon for their own purposes. Thus, the Ideon crew became Space Runaways. The body count in the series is ludicrously high, and the destruction surpasses anything seen in Evangelion. The series is also VERY, VERY depressing.
Highly, highly reccomended.

Anno Hideaki also fully admits to ripping a lot of Eva's concepts and even character personalities from Ideon. Yes it is going to be in Alpha 3. Under the right conditions it is expected to wipe out entire maps with Ideon Gun or Ideon Sword like it did in SRWF and SRWF Final. Here is a pic of Ideon:

To sum it up, Ideon is three Trucks/Fighters/Components that form one big robot with a big ol' GM III head on top. If you played SRW F and F Final, you can safely assume Banpresto recognizes Ideon as the strongest mech ever (Which explains it's lack of appearances in the SRW series, story combinations aside).
I'd love to see an arguement between all the mecha creators of the genre.
"Yeah, my robot wiped out most of humanity"
"Oh yeah? Well my robot destroyed the universe!"
.........boy, that was short lived.

Meh. I still gotta say it reminds me of a huge GM III.
Although, looking at the body, setting the head aside, I'm kinda reminded of Black Joker's unit in G-Gundam.

Hate to say it but mecha in anime is starting to all look the same... all having Gundam heads. Sad really sweatdrop sad
