Many a time, I have heard girls get so upset over something as trivial as a breakup, or a guy not liking them at all. They have every right to be upset, but some of them, as I've seen mostly in threads in Gaia Online's Life Issues forum, take things way too far. threatening to never love again, saying they'd commit suicide, leave their family and friends, just because some guy is being a jerk, or some relationship didn't work out.

But everytime I see one of those threads with all the major threats over a minor thing, I always tell them "It could be worse".

You /could/ fall in love with a guy, finally begin to get to the highest point of the relationship, then be faced with the hassle of your boyfriend's best friend threatening him and sending people to beat him up, out of pure jealousy.

Then your boyfriend calls you up on the phone one night, because one of his lesbian mothers just choked him and broke the necklace that you made for him, all because he broke the arm of some kid in school that day, out of nothing other than self defense, and now said mother wants him sent to Juvie. And the final words you hear before your boyfriend has to hand up the phone are "You're the only one who keeps me alive. My parents don't love me, my brother doesn't love me, and my best friend wants to kill me. I'd probably commit suicide if you weren't around."

Then, after a few days with no phonecalls, because your boyfriend is now banned form using the phone, you try to sneak a call while his mothers are not home, and all you hear is the voice of his brother, telling you that he is in the hospital after voluntarily knocking himself out on a wall at school.

A week later, you get the news that he is now in a behavioural hospital, and is apparently bipolar. Now they are shoving pills down his throat, for four disorders he doesn't even have. three that were diagnosed and medicated when he was only six years old.

For two and a half years, he stays in these places, trapped, all because he's just misunderstood and has had a harsh homelife, with a drug addicted brother, no father, and an abusive mother.

All that you can do is write letters to him, but what if one day, because of an idiot choice made by a staff member at one of these behavioural hospitals, the communication is cut off? You can write to him, but he cannot reply back.

You talk to his mother on the phone every once in a while, but you never feel like you're getting a straight answer to any of your questions.

Yes, this is all a true story.

Committing suicide over a breakup? Is it really worth it? There's plenty more time to find someone else, and maybe someone better. Even if you thought the guuy was "the bestest, sweetest guy ever", know that nothing is "the best". Eventually, something else will come along, and make "the best" look like nothing more than a piece of trash.

And there's no real reason to give up on love or life altogether on something as simple as heartbreak, because it happens to everyone, and like I said, and like the story clarified, it could be so much worse.
