Early in the morning only about a week or so after the cubs had been born, Msuluhivu was at almost exactly the same spot she had been at when she had first gone into labor. She was also doing the same thing, catching fish. It was quite early and the cubs were still asleep, she was glad of that, since they often scared the fish away with their splashing.
She concentrated on a rather large fish, staring at it for a moment and then lashing out at it with her powerful claws and dragging it ashore, still flopping about. She carried it over to the small pile she already had, about three rather small fish and one large one. Perfect, today she planned to teach the cubs about eating meat, or fish at least. They would have to learn sooner or later and she figgured sooner was easier.
As she walked quietly back to the rivers edge to attempt to get another fish, a few sprinkles of water dropped onto her younger daughter.
The cold water woke up the tiny cub, she stared at the tiny droplets of water on her coat and shook them off, but oh look! Mother was at the water again! What fun, but first she had some business to take care of. Her siblings were still asleep, and she couldn't have that.
"Up up up!" She squeaked, nudging her sister with a paw and nipping at her ear. "Up! Water water, PLAY!" She squealed, proudly using some of her favorite new words to discribe what she wanted done. "Play, Bu, play Nac!" She said, bouncing around happily and poking at her siblings."
Oh dear, Kumbuko was at it again, "Kumbu, stop that, let them sleep." Hivu said with a laugh, "Its not nice to wake them up while they sleep."
"Kumbu want play!" was all she had to say to that.

Nac stwitched as his sister made rather loud unplesant noises. He moved his paws softly over his head murring at the dream he was having trying to block out every other sound that was insistant on waking him.
Indeed a good dream it was, he was starting at himself in a rather large shiney object that would go anywhere he wanted to go. He murred at the dream tail flickering.
Althought he could still hear his sister's whining he murfed.

Limbua yawned softly and slowly uncurled her head. Blinking one eye and then the next she saw her sister, Kumbuko and her mother Msuluhivu. The only other females she knew, her playful sister and the idol of her life. The cub got to her feet and stretched out her back and body before sitting back down with another yawn. It was morning, meaning mother was getting food ready. It just so happened that it was Kumbu who woke up first meaning the other two were short after. Wonderful, no?
"Morning mother, Kumbu." she spoke in her soft, clear voice. Turning her head back, she saw that Nacarass was still sleeping peacefully bringing a smile to her maw. He was so cute when sleeping, then again all males where. It was just that, Nac was the only male she knew and was familiar with his behaviors and well....self-centeredness. "Shall I wake brother for you, mother?" she asked nicely before starting to groom her fur of the matts from sleeping.
Kumbu was urging her to play in the water, but that would mean she would get wet, and getting wet made her look bad, and if she looked bad and a cute male came by, she would feel horrible. "No thank you, sister, I just woke up, please give me some time." she wasn't going in.

Well, it seemed that all the cubs were awake, time to feed them, they would try fish today. "Come childeren, today you get something special!" She said happily, leaving the edge of the river and going over to the small cluster of cubs. "You get big person food today, you get to have what I eat." She said with a smile, going over to the fish and giving a small one to each of the cubs before taking the larger one for herself.
She actually wouldn't be surprised if the cubs were unable to finish their meals. Though the fish were small, they were quite large for someone the size of a cub. "Eat up little ones, just like this." She said, beginning to eat her fish.
"Special?" Kumbu asked, she had never heard this word before. "What... Special mama?" she said curiously, looking at the fish. ''Special... Good? Special tasty?" She had decided that the fish was indeed a 'special', so without waiting for an answer, she copied her mother, eating the 'special'.
It was yummy! She dug into the cool flesh of the fish with her teeth and swallowed, she would take this over milk any day!

"Ugh" finally getting up from his trying to sleep Nac shook his head, "I was having such a good dream..." wrinkling his little nose he stared at the fish. Watching his mother and sister eating theirs before he lofted a brow.
"Eat that?" He muttered poking at it with a paw. Shortly after sniffing this strange thing, "But it's staring at me, and what if it messes up my coat?" He protested looking at his mother.
He sniffed at it again, it had a funny smell to it, one that stung his poor little nose. "Speical smells funnyyy." He whined before playing with it useing a single claw to pick scales from it.

Limbua looked down at the first. It was dead and limp, poking it a few times to make sure it wouldn't just suddenly move and scare her. It took a moment, but she finally felt safe to approach it with her maw. Cutting it with her claws, she picked at her food, taking bits from it rather just diving in head first, that usually made a mess of things for others and she wanted not to get bloody or dirty.
Finishing up the last bit of her food she nicely piled the mostly cleaned bones in a while and sat silently. Soon her sister finished off her fish and Nac, well, she tried not to think of him. She simply purred softly and waited for her mother to speak.
"Mother, what must I do after I have finished eating?" she asked softly, trying to be as polite as she could. This being the first time she didn't know what to do. She stared down at the clean soft white bones. They look so small and alluring. Bu took one and played with it. She chew on it, drew with it, and even arrangedthem to look like a fish again. Would this be considered playing with you food after being devoured?

She smiled as her two daughters took so well to the fish, Narcissus however... "If it messes up your coat then I'll fix it for you, go ahead, it won't hurt you." She said gently, "Look, your sisters like it, it can't be that bad." She purred before turning to her older daughter.
"You may do what you please Limbua, just don't get lost or hurt yourself." She said with a soft giggle. Bu was too polite for her own good. She was so proud of her cubs, they seemed so smart for their ages. Well, Bu and Nac anyway. Kumbu seemed to still be working on her sentances, though she did get her point across when she wanted something.
Ku finished her fish, she was full, but she was also bored. Her short attention span decided that she wanted to know how to get them. "Mama, teach Ku to get special!" She said happily, bounding over to the edge of the river, all she knew was that they came from the water. She stared into the water and saw the specials, and without thinking she jumped in and started splashing at them. When the water cleared they were long gone. This would take some practice.

Nac looked at his sister bu for some help. Ku wouldn't do much of nothing save what she wanted to. After a bit he sighed softly and bit down into it making a face.
Appernetly this "speical" had to be an aquired taste. He looked at his mother chewing the meat up slowly before turning a grimace into a rather faked grin. "It's..... good." He murrmurred before looking back at the fish. With a sigh he ate all he could manage to stand of it. He'd get use to it... hopefully.
Licking at his maw he murfed stareing down his nose. "Mother it got me all messy!!!" He complained.

Limbua stared at her brother, holding in a chuckle. Nac was so wierd, but he was the only male around, so she had only one person to admire. However, she would never dare do anything beyond that with her brother. He was just so....dunno how to put it, different. Bu just watched as he chewed his food with the most obviously fake smile anyone could give.
"Nac, you are helpless in your own little world. I believe you would be better off with staying with mom." Bu chuckled. Mom would be there to clean his fur, otherwise he would have to do it himself. As much as she has been with him, she has never seen him do that before. Though, she would not mind doing it with her minimal skills.
Staring over to her sister, splashing in the river, she let out a laugh that chimed like a bell. It was just so much fun being with her family, her playful sister, her self-absorbed brother, and her idol. It just felt like something was missing from it all....something strong and comforting to watch over the four of them.
"Ku, please get out of the water, you might catch a cold and no male would ever like you if you were ill."

Hivu giggled and cleaned off her son, "There, isn't that better? Now go and play, you need to build up those hansome muscles of yours." She said gently and playfully. She didn't mind if he didn't like fish yet, it would grow on him, and if it didn't there were plenty of other things to eat around here.
She turned to Kumbu, "Catching fish takes practice and patience, you'll get the hang of it eventually." She said with a smile. She beleived that having the children teach themselves some of the skills was a good way to make them more independant.
"Aren't you a bit young to be worried about males liking you?" She asked Bu, "You don't need to worry about that for a long time sweetie." She said with a laugh, who would have thought that a cub would be worried about such things?
Ku cocked her head at her mother, so a special was really called a fish? Whatever, she was still going to catch one. But not right now, now she was playing and not hungry in the least. She splashed around happily in the shallow water for a bit, before responding to her sister.
"Kumbu not get sick, it warm out!" She said, sticking her tongue out at her sister, "And Kumbu does not care about males liking Kumbu, they have cootie bugs!" She said with a shudder.

Nac chuffed as he was groomed and wiggled happily. He'd come to like and appericate the cleanliness his mother provided. "Thank you mother." He grinned before scooting off and noseing bu softly.
"Lets godown stream a ways out of splashing reach." He said in a whisper to his multicolored sister with a chuckle before turning towards Ku. "Boys do not have cootie bugs! But you do. I've seen you bite at your skin." He stuck out his tounge and padded off towards a rather nice rock he'd found yesterday.

Bu laughed, the only sibling rivalry here is between Ku and Nac. After recollecting, she nodded. "Further downstream sounds nice. But honestly, was it necessary to point that out?" he asked, pawing at him for stating Ku's problem.
Turning to her mother, "What? I cannot think about my future?" she asked slyly and smiled. "I just like them, that is all, no harm right? Besides, the next thing I know the male of my dreams will come through those trees." she awed and smiled dreamingly. She was hopeless.

"Now now Nac, be nice to your sister." Hivu said sternly, "None of you have any cootie bugs." She sighed, shaking her head, "And I really do think you're a bit young to be worried about such things Bu, enjoy being a child while you can, you're only young for a little while." She laughed, remembering how she never beleived anyone when they said that, "Growing up too fast is no fun, trust me."
"Don't go too far Nac." She called after her son as he started off downstream.
"Kumbu not have cootie bugs!" She growled, leaping out of the water and shaking off the water from her fur. "Wait for Kumbu!" She called after them, running after them, still dripping wet. She hated being left alone, even being left alone with her mother. She didn't play.
"Mama they mean to Kumbu!" She whined to Hivu, "Why they not like Kumbu?" She asked as they both followed the other two downstream.

Nac yawned and looked towards his mother, "Awww, but she started it!" He said before giggled at Bu and shook his head, "If you wait till you're older you can leave us behind if you find yourself a boy." He said with a nod.
Looking back as his mother he grinned, "Oh we won't mother. I just want to get away from sister's splashing she ruins the reflections in the water when she does that." He said Hoping onto a rock and laying down looking into the water with a smile.
"There that's better I can see hansome from here."

Bu shrugged, "Fine, I will stop thinking about it, mother." she miled and chuckled softly. Sure she was young, but she would always think of boys. As long as she had her brother around, she had at least one to admire for a while until she was free to wander off to meet many others. She classified every male as big, strong, brave, comforting, and protected. She just liked the thought of being surrounded by them.
"Hey! I would never leave you all behind. If I found someone, I will bring him back." she was so proud of the thought of having someone to love and be loved. Just that she wanted many to love her and many to fall head over heels. "All of them." she added with a smile.
