as we all probably know, the band's style was very different from their current style before Wasting the Dawn/Blessed Be (buecase Wasting the Dawn sounds more like the 'bridge' between the styles, in my opinion).
it was (somewhat) more upbeat, noisy, and the vocals weren't as deep. the lyrics were different, theme-wise, as well. or as the 69 eyes themselves described it, sleazy.
the newer style, their 'trademark' style, so to say, is the one with the much deeper vocals and heavier instrumentals. the lyrics has also changed, and their music became more calm sounding, and gained a night-like quality.
so, my question is, which style do you guys prefer, and what are your opinions on the style change?
i presonally, really liked their old style. of course, i love their current style, it's what got me into their music, but their older style seems even more appealing to me. what music i listen to often depends on my mood, and since i'm rarely in a darker, or a calm mood, i tend to gravitate towards upbeat music, thus liking their older style very much.
i'm not saying that the change is a negetive one, i'm just saying that it's a very big change. &it's actually a positive one, if anything, buecase there's different music coming from the same outstanding band to fit any mood. o:

I like both. Its still The 69 Eyes, you know? I don't think I could ever dislike their music or like one cd more than the other because they're just that good. Its still the same gothic rock but I guess their music now is a bit different, not a lot really, in my opinion. I love all their music because I love them!! 4laugh

I always seem to like the 'old sound' for bands because I always think "They'll never be like that again" and it's sorta an odd way to see it, but that's what I think. So I sorta give up listening to the old style of bands because . . . I dunno. Just some reason, I really really don't like it at all. It makes me feel . . . odd. It's not like I hate it, I just can't listen to it. xp

I like both. I know I love the deep vocals in the new sound. The old sound just had something about it that I loved also.

i love both versions because it shows how much they've grown, as people, in their music. At first the Eyes did really loud sleazy music when they were young. but know as the guys have gotten older and have expirenced alot more, their music reflect it. i really like that about the Eyes because you can kind of watch them grow in their music talent. heart

To tell the truth I actually kind of like the newer style more... The older material still is really good but I did not car for the videos too much because they did not have a plot to it. The reason I fell for the Eyes is for the gothic touch to it. I loved the lyrics because they seemed dark and the videos followed along with it...
So I'll go along with the newer genre...

I prefer both styles but for purely different reasons. Their earlier music (I don't like to call it old... b/c it makes them seem old) has that harpsicord (sp?) twangy "I just woke up from my coffin" sound. The stuff from Angels and Devils is more of a "Let's take on the world" kind of sound. Each perfectly ok pending your mood. ^ ^ If you set up all of their albums in order and then began listening when you first woke up... I'm sure it would kind of fit... sort of... maybe I'm just imagining things.
