"May, are you really sure this is a good idea?" Aiodhan inquired, watching Caleb roll around on the towel. They had been arguing about this for two days, and Amyla had finally won. Against Aiodhan's better instincts, the two of them plus Caleb and Kayce had made a trip out to the beach. There was a very light breeze, though it didn't ruffle their giant beach umbrella much. All four of them were seated beneath it with plenty of room to spare.
Amyla was relaxing on her towel, watching Kayce use her newly-gathered bucket of water to commence construction of a sand castle. "I'm sure, Aiodhan. I'm fine; Caleb's fine. It's a beautiful day out here! Look... there are even a few other people too!" she said, gesturing to the other families on the beach.

It had been a stressful time, for both 'mommy' and 'daddy.' Raj had to put up with a little energetic girl while Rian had to settle himself down. So when a calm, decently cool day arrived, Raj announced that they were going to the beach, and there was nothing Rian could do about it.
When your lover marches out of the front door with your child in hand, it's really hard to argue with him.
By the time they had gotten there, Ria was squealing in her father's lap and pointing at the 'beedies' which Raj took to mean birds. Rian was cranky and cramped. And they all smelled like soda.
But when they had gotten a small place set up, Rian had taken his daughter to collect seashells, and Raj had gotten water for the poor, dehydrated demon, they were all in a fairly decent mood. The atmosphere was cheerful, no one could deny that.
"Eesell." Ria let out a squeal, letting go of her father's hand and waddled off to pick up a large gray-blue shell.

While Amyla and Aiodhan were occupied in trying to keep Kayce from digging a hole to the planet's center through the sand, Caleb was distracted by the sound of squeals and the sight of a girl nearby. Oooooh, this could be interesting.
Dropping to all fours, Caleb ponderously crawled over his father's tail and diligently crawled across the sand toward this newcomer. How interesting she was....
Just about the time that he convinced Kayce not to go deeper than three feet, Aiodhan felt something move across his tail. What the heck? He sat upright and noticed that Caleb had wandered off amidst the chaos. Uh oh. He spied the boy not six feet away, apparently making a break for it. "Whoa, no!" he declared, sliding across the sand to scoop up the infant. "You little hellion. Trying to escape, huh?!"
The boy babbled and pointed a chubby hand in the girl's direction, watching her with fascinated eyes. "Yeeeeetah!"

Rian glanced towards where, supposedly, a little boy had taken an interest in his little girl and he immediately trotted over, pulling the poor (though still giggling at the odd shape of the shell she'd found) girl into his arms and glancing around. Okay. He jumped when he heard Raj let out a yell, automatically starting over.
Ria had gone fairly still, wings fluttering happily behind her (the only thing that was moving) as she peered at the odd family. "UH-LO!" she cried, trying her hardest to imitate the word she'd heard her parents use. Mommy was yelling, and Daddy looked bored, but.. "Uh-lo-lo!" she cooed, smiling brightly and waving. She was happy!

Despite Caleb's squeals of 'Aaaayoooooh! Ayoooooh!', Aiodhan pulled the little boy up out of the sand and held onto him, dusting the sand from his hair. Little brat. He was now covered in sand. "Sorry about him. He wouldn't have hurt her, I promise," he said, though the male started walking away. Odd.
Amyla glanced over as she heard a yell. What in Gaia was that?!

Ria gawked at the boy, a small grin on her face. Oooh, even if she really didn't know him.. He looked fun! "Pay, 'dy, pay!" she wailed, starting to squirm in her father's arms. Rian simply tightened the grip on his daughter and shook his head.
Raj had tossed a small cup of water away from him, looking alarmed. Of course, just as he tossed it, a small beetle darted out of it.
"'ommy, 'ug!" Ria cried, giggling loudly. Rian rolled his eyes, letting the little girl down so he could calm his (flailing) lover down.
Of course, the moment she was set on the ground, she started crawling right back to where she saw that boy.

Caleb squirmed as well in his father's grip, trying to get back to this new and interesting person. "Eeeyay! Eeeyay!" he squealed, though Aiodhan tried to carry him back toward the family.
As soon as Caleb was set back down on the towel, he spied the girl crawling back over in his direction. Glancing at his parents, who were occupied again with trying to keep Kayce from burying herself in sand, he shuffled off the towel and proceeded to crawl back over to her. Upon getting a few feet away, he sat down and stared, clapping his hands together and gurgling happily.

Ria giggled brightly, wobbling over and smiling brightly, asking her (of course) favorite question. "Pay?" she cooed, clapping as well. "Pay-payyy.." she looked around for something to 'pay' with. Her parents were still babbling to each other - mommy was whining and daddy was trying to get him to be quiet - so they definately would be able to play for a while! Ria squealed at the idea.

"Oh, crud. Caleb, how'd you get over there?" Aiodhan yelped as he scuttled on all fours across the sand.
Completely ignoring his father, Caleb chortled happily, kicking his feet. "Peeeyaaaay!" he declared happily. Somewhere in the back of his mind, the boy knew he had left both his plushie and his ball back with the family. However, that was not of immediate consequence, for the girl had body parts that fascinated him. He pointed at her wings. "Ooooooh?"

Ria blinked a bit, not quite getting what the boy was pointing at before - "Oooh!" she beamed, turning around, the multi-colored wings again fluttering happily. They were very pretty. She cooed, stroking them absentmindedly before turning back to the boy. "Ngs." she said, head bobbing up and down. She'd heard her mommy crowing about how pretty the 'ngs were, and she was very proud of 'em!

Caleb contorted his face as he tried to imitate the words. "Nggg....nnnnnnn! NNNNNNNNG!" he finally got out, giggling. He glanced back at his own wings, fluttering them a few times. "Nnnnng!" He then picked up his tail and patted the soft furryness of it. "Aaaaaaaayyyeyl!" he declared.
Aiodhan, after having to scoot back to Amyla who had started hyperventilating when Caleb wasn't within her immediate reach, finally managed to get to his son... only to find the boy engrossed in a conversation with another small child. Interesting. He sat down a few feet away to watch, giving Amyla a reassuring wave.

Ria beamed, crawling over and patting the boy's wings before leaning down, staring curiously at the tail. Well, she'd never seen one of those before! She paused, leaning down a bit further and letting out a loud squeal as the fur tickled her nose. A quick glance at the boy.. "Eee!" she let out another squeal, tossing her arms around the boy, a small sneeze escaping. Soft!

Caleb fluttered his wings a bit and then watched as she examined his tail. He waved it about a few times and then responded to her squeal with a kick of his feet and another fluttering of the wings. "Aaaaaayeeeyl!" he declared, patting the fuzzy appendage. He eyed her wings too. Hers were different...

Ria giggled brightly, rolling over and poking the boy's wings happily. They were very different from her's - they weren't as bright, but they were very pretty, too! A small squeak could be heard as the girl got sand in her eye. A moment or so later, the child let out a loud, strained wail, rubbing furiously.
Both of her parents stopped, Rian turning to glare, Raj turning to gawk.

Caleb watched her roll over, giggling to himself and flapping his wings as she poked them. He looked bemused when she squeaked and then made a surprised whuffing noise as she began to wail. That didn't sound fun to him.
Aiodhan, sitting a few feet away, blinked. What the heck? He edged closer trying to understand what was wrong with the girl.
