... a rather gloomy gray one by anyone's standards, I was feeling rather awkward and depressed. It was February and the light didn't seem to be shining as bright as it usually did, and after the long, gray, dim, FRIGID winter, I needed as much cheering as I could get, but just didn't feel motivated to sit anywhere but by the window, looking out over my frost-bitten garden and the river and the pool, closed for the winter. I was about to sigh and go nap on the couch under my favorite fuzzy blanket -- careworn now by the winter's use -- when I heard the doorbell's jingling chimes ringing through the house.
Energized by the sound, I bounded off the windowseat and slid down the banisters to answer the door. "Hello?" I called, opening it a crack and looking either way, curious and rather disappointed. No one was there -- but upon looking down, what should my wondering eyes meet but a small plate... and on it, two enlarged, sparkling heart-shaped pink candies that glittered with sugar. My mouth watered -- sugary candies? Valentine's Day was only a few days away; maybe I had a secret admirer?
It was then, bending down to check for signs of a card to go with them, that I spotted, no larger than a gumball or the last joint of my thumb, a tiny pink egg perched precariously atop the candies. My eyes lit up. "Maybe whatever's inside is alive," I said happily. Picking up the plate, I found a sheet of paper underneath. "It will hatch on Valentine's Day," I read off the paper, and chuckled. "Well, I suppose that answers my question... I suppose," I said to the egg, "I will see exactly what you are and what you'll do on February fourteenth, won't I?"

Sadira is still very small, and rather reluctant to mature it seems. She relies on squeaking and squealing and hovering about to get her point across for the most part, although she has been seen to let out a word or two in her squeaky little voice when she's afraid or lonely. She has a particular fondness for hiding in teacups and sugarbowls, because she enjoys the taste of the sugar, of course. Her favorite food is vanilla-bean sugar and her favorite drink is honey or hummingbird nectar. Being her owner's only Wethkin-related pet (for the time being!) she is entitled to things she otherwise wouldn't be -- like sharing a pillow!

Kit is a hyper little ball of affection, soprano voice and long, wavy red hair. She's been known to run amok for no reason other than an odd craving or a hair out of place -- which is saying something, because her hair is NEVER in place. Just like her Spritkin, she has a fondness for sugar of all kinds, and it's just a good thing that she hasn't realized yet that Sadira would probably taste vaguely of sugar...

First off, here's Sadira's 'family', the other pets whom she and I have adopted.
Here's the Ninja Parents! Loki, the black ninja, just recently got Kit, the white fox-ninja, to stop crying. She had his baby and when Kyrie moved out, she cried for... a LONG time.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear! This little brat is the spawn of Kit and Loki. He tried to fight his father and lost, so that's his goal in life: to best his father.
This is Sadira's beloved Nameless Pink Kitty, whom she calls "Pipipipipi", which in Sadi-language could mean almost anything...
This is Christine Daae, an orphaned opera dancer from Opera Populaire Adoptions. She loves Sadira and they sing together on occasion (that is, when Christine isn't pestering Erik...)
These two are Christine and Erik merfolk. They live in a tank on my dresser and occasionally one of them will come up to talk to Sadira. They are her lullaby though.
This is Akri. He's a painter, so he keeps away from Sadira for the most part. He did paint her once, though, and she loves him for it.
This is Loki! He's a telepath and he's rather mischievous in the bargain. He styles himself after the Norse god, and since he's rather playful, he's Sadira's favorite of her family members.
