Deva's Promise:
(entry at 10-27 finished at 11-4)
Deva didn't understand it, her brother Jin had always been good with those he took in, but here she was at midnight with her PJs on in the frigid cold looking down at a lone basket with a note attached. She read it over and over, keeping an eye on the tiny blue hailstone that jumped around.
Deva-chan,
I need you to watch Lani for me. I can't explain why, but I have to go away for a while. Be sure to keep him in cold areas only, he's a wee hail droplet.

"Why in the middle of the night? What a drama King..." she muttered under her breath. Lifting the basket she headed into the house.
Upon entering she felt an itching feeling on the back of her neck, like something kept throwing little pebbles at her. Getting frustrated she turned around quick enough to see a flash of light blue. She growled and looked down at the basket, just as she expected, he was gone. Hearing a gurgled giggle behind her she turned to face him.
"Lani..." she began but was cut off by a tiny hailstone to the forehead.
"Pla-ay!" he cried out.
Feeling her temple twitch she had to hold back from reaching for him and shipping him off back to where Jin was; she had been woken up in the middle of the night to tend to a hyperactive hailstone, she was not in a good mood at the slightest. She made a grab for him but the tiny hailstone fluttered beyond her reach, giggling as he did so.
"Foo-n! Foo!" he cried out, Deva guessed it was his word for fun.
"It's time for bed Lani..." She tried once again, this time she was able to grasp him in her hands careful but also holding back her irritation. He peeked up at her, confused.
"Bed no teem! Pla-ay! Foo-n times yah!" He bounced up and down in her grasp. Deva shook her head, her expression firm.
"See outside? There's no light... I dunno what Jin taught you, but that's when it's time for bed okay?"
"Jeen no maka Lani bed teem," he gurgled. "Too manys all ober... Jeen no take cares of all no. Lani pla-ay times now." Slipping out of her grip, Lani fluttered onto her shoulder.
Deva scratched her chin, it was hard to make out what words he tried to tell her but she caught what little she could. "So... you're saying he took in way too many pets. And he couldn't control 'em all. I guess that makes sense... sending the littler ones to me."
Watching him bounce around she sighed, now that Jin was off trying to tame his pets she would do her best to keep an eye on him and raise the little one as long as she had to. And if she knew her brother, that could be for a loooong time.
"Well... let's at least get you settled alright? Jin didn't mention much about you... just that you were meant to stay in cold places."
Lani buzzed around, not really paying attention. Hiccuping small fragments of hail as he inspected his new home.
"Right... so we need to work on finding you a bed. Did you sleep in Jin's freezer or something?"
At the mention of the freezer Lani's eyes grew wide and he hovered above Deva's shoulder, a lot closer than he was before. He shook despite being a frozen sprite. Deva took the hint and patted him on the head with her index finger, reassuring that she wouldn't throw him in there. Instead she opened it and removed a gelly ice pack to place into the basket.
"There... that should keep you nice and comfy for the night."
Lani hovered towards it and placed the bottom tip of him against it. He rubbed back and forth, testing it out a bit. He looked pleased to the point where he began to hop up and down on it, chasing the little bubble inside.
Deva sighed... this was a hyperactive little sprite, but at least he wasn't too bad. "Alrighty Lani, it's time for be-" she began again, looking down at him. Her eyes widened as she noticed that his eyes were already shut, indicating that he had crashed big time. It must've been a long night for him, she thought. Then carefully moved the basket upstairs towards her room. Placing it near the window she cracked it open a little so he could stay chilled. She sighed and stroked his forehead. In a night she had gained a little childlike-creature... more like a baby. It was different. She was used to Tariq, her teenage monster and her newest addition Envy. They were self-running so now it seemed she had a whole new page to start in her life. She cursed her brother but also felt fine by it. It was almost exciting.
"Lani..." she whispered. "It means sky right? Fits with the color of him..." She felt some sort of warmth, caring for him. He was almost abandonned by her brother and yet he probably had no clue. She leaned down and whispered to him. "I promise... I'll always take care of you."
He shifted slightly but cooed. Content with that she headed for her own bed, turning the heating blanket up to high.
"Tomorrow... is always a new day.." she muttered, "Or rather... today."
"Stupid brother and bad timing...."

RP post: Deva and Lani in the early morn.
(Started on 11-8-05; finished on --))
Deva never rose with the morning, she admitted very openly she was a heavy sleeper. It was about 12pm when she finally opened her eyes, bloodshot and squinting. It wasn't on her own however, as she heard a lot of noises and crashing sounds coming from just beyond her door. Figuring her companion Tariq was up causing a storm to go out again she was ready to raise some hell, he knew better than to wake her up but still did it on occasion as she had expected this time around. When she threw the door open she never expected to see him being pelted by little hailstones before.
She looked towards the cause. "Uh... Lani? I don't think he wants to play anymo-"
She was cut off as Tariq ran straight for the hail droplet and tackled him to the ground.
Her eyes grew wide and she ran to pull Tariq off of him, fearing his temper had gotten the best of him for the very first time. Hearing his laughs though, she sighed in relief. She still pryed the teenage monster off of him though.
"What have you two been doing? It's so early..."
Lani floated up to her and bonked her on the head with his forehead.
"No eerlee! Tareeq play wit Lani all da-ay!" He bounced around then looked over to his much bigger playmate.
