About Sunlight

Sunlight in the broad sense is the total spectrum of electromagnetic radiation given off by the Sun. On Earth, sunlight is filtered by the atmosphere, and the solar radiation is obvious as daylight when the Sun is above the horizon. This is usually during the hours known as day. Near the poles in summer, sunlight also occurs during the hours known as night and in the winter at the poles sunlight may not occur at any time. When the direct radiation is not blocked by clouds, it is experienced as sunshine, a combination of bright light and heat. Radiant heat directly produced by the radiation of the sun is different from the increase in atmospheric temperature due to the radiative heating of the atmosphere by the sun's radiation. The existence of nearly all life on earth is fueled by light from the sun. Plants use the energy of sunlight to turn air into simple sugars—a process known as photosynthesis. These sugars are then used as the building blocks which allow the plant to grow.

Many people find direct sunlight to be too bright for comfort, especially when reading from white paper upon which the sun is directly shining. Indeed, looking directly at the sun can cause permanent vision damage. To compensate for the brightness of sunlight, many people wear sunglasses.

Please keep your egg in a warm place.
It should hatch in 5-10 days heart

Cira has certainly grown from the little egg I found her as. We've been through some tough times together, but things seem to be calming down now. And she's started talking again, thanks to Regen and Xennik!

Name: Cira 'Fiara'
Age: Almost a year and a half now
Race: Wethkin
Birth Family: True parents unknown
Living Relatives: Unknown

Loves: Playing outside, hanging out with Regen, sitting in a quiet corner and thinking
Hates: Trying to figure out adults, unpleasant weather, being cooped up inside for 6 months.
Personality: A generally happy little Wethkin, though sometimes she regresses into quiet thoughtfulness when something's on her mind or she's depressed. A care-taker by nature, she wants to make sure that no one is left without a friend or someone to help cheer them up.

Description: About the size of a gumball, Cira's a deep pink in color, the same you might see at a sunset. Her body is almost completely round except at the top, and she has tiny wings that help her hover, plus a pair of antennae on top of her 'head'.

History: Discovered as an egg by Aurora, and hatched May 28th 2005. She's been through a lot in a short year, having been sent back to Auri's real world by some weird time warp where she had to be careful what she did, and could hardly talk to Auri because of her 'mother's' father and his disblief in magic. They returned, finally, only to go 'underground' for six months to plan on breaking Xennik out of rehab, and she took to being incredibly quiet and depressed, and for a few weeks even stopped talking. It took the friendship of another Wethkin, Regen, to bring her out of this state, and she's still slowly working her way to recovery.

Keeran and Gin, two new relations that are apparently called neo-nekomata's. Cira certainly seems to like Gin, and Keeran has taken to following me around whenever I'm working on the house. That is, when the two aren't sleeping for a god awful amount of hours every day.

Altan, a small wolf-like creature that Cira seems to have taken to mothering lately. Not that I mind. He was randomly given to me by a stranger at the grocery store, I hope he doesn't end up being cursed or some such.

Aurora let out a soft sigh as she stepped outside of her house into the warm spring evening air. The sun, bright orange in the distance was slowly beginning to settle down for the night, offering up dominance to the moon until morning came around once more. Already, Auri could hear the sounds of the animals beginning to bed down for the night, the gentle cooing of doves in the trees, and the soft chitter of squirrels playfully fighting over sleeping spots. Now would be a good time, when no one would notice her change. For you see, Aurora was a shapeshift, of sorts. It wasn't something she was born with, but she had once taken care of a cardinal who was hurt, rescuing it from a fox ready to devour it. In return, the cardinal had offered her a gift, that as long as she had a feather that was -given- to her by a bird, she could shift into that specific creature.

Gingerly, Aurora pulled a handkerchief out of the blue snoopy saddle-bag she had at her waist and unwrapped a beautiful white and light brown feather, a gift to her from a hawk she had taken care of when it had a broken wing. She lightly tied the feather to the strap of her bra beneath her shirt, and then closed her eyes as she felt the change coming on. When it was over, instead of a young human girl, there stood a great hawk, with powerful claws, sharp eyes and a very sharp beak. With her wings spread she took off into the air, determined to enjoy the last hour of sunlight.

And for an hour that was all she did, soaring through the air gracefully, seemingly with no effort, though she learned fast just how much effort it really took to fly, nearly killing herself with exhaustion a few times. When the last rays of the sun had faded and the moon began to rise, a curious little light caught her attention down in the woods. She swooped down to see it closer, wondering what this light could mean in the darkness, for it was not like the light of anything man-made, or even fire. As she drew closer, she saw it was an egg. A.. shining egg. What sort of egg shines?

At first she hopped back away from it, one could never be too careful in the world of Gaia, before she approached it once more and stared at it curiously. Her sharp hawk eyes glanced around her once more, before hopped right next to it, and as gingerly as possible grabbed it within one claw and flew off towards home.

'I'll call you Cira, I think. Meaning sun, for you are as bright as the sun little one.' She thought to herself.

Aurora slowly woke to the bright, morning sun directly in her eyes and with a tired groan she turned over to try to get some more sleep. Yet, after just a few moments that seemed like a lost cause, especially with the sun illuminating her room the way it was. She sat up in bed then, her arms stretching high above her head as her toes curled in pleasure at the stretch. When her eyes re-opened, they drifted over to the clock on her nightstand to check the time.

"...Oh. It's Three in the morning. ... Wait a minute. Three?!" It was only then that she realized the source of the light wasn't sunlight, or at least not from the sun. No, the illuminating rays were coming from the egg she had discovered in the woods. "Oh god, what have I gotten myself into?" With a deep groan she rolled away from the egg and pulled her covers over her head to try to get some more sleep. It was going to be a long, long night.

Roleplay:
Pales
Aurora Fiara

He sat upon a bench sort of sprawled out, as if he had been pushed, but it was simply how he felt comfortable. Something small, fluffy, and quite pink was bouncing and occasionally floating along his leg. Every now and again Pales gave an amused laugh and he'd speak to it. It seemed the puff understood as it would give off happy, "Chyuu!" sounds.

Aurora, at the moment, was strolling through the park from the other side towards Pales' bench. Around her neck rested a simple, hand-made pouch and from it there emitted a rather bright light, as though whatever inside was glowing like the sun. Every once in awhile a small, lightly tanned hand would reach up to touch the pouch, almost to make sure that whatever was inside was safe, and comfortable. Finally, she stopped to settled down between the roots of a particularly large tree, fingertips reach in to pull out the glowing object and she cradled the object between her two hands, quietly whispering to it in tones no one else could hear.

Bouncing along Toki suddenly stopped and shivered glancing around curiously.

"Hmm? What's wrong?" Pales blinked a little sitting up a bit, first time he saw that reaction.

"Ch-yyyuuuu!" Suddenly the small puff zipped away from Pales causing him to give a startled and dismayed cry. It wasn't look before Aurora was pretty much hearing a small voice going, "Chyu?" near where she sat. As well as seeing a tall man scrambling toward her.

Auri glanced up quietly at all the commotion, her head tilting to one side curiously at the little pink puff that now floated near her. Those light grey eyes of hers lifted towards the tall, rather lanky man scrambling towards her and she blinked lightly in confusion as once more her eyes returned to the puff.

"Er, hello there little one. Where did you come from?" For some reason, her egg seemed to glow a bit brighter, as though reacting to the nearby puff, though it went unnoticed by Aurora.

"Chyuu! Pretties?" Toki murbled only perching on Auri's shoulder peering toward Pales. "Dah..dee com..s..see! Shiny!" The puff murbled, though it was doubtful the man heard the tiny voice.

When Pales was but a few feet he collapsed to his knees panting a bit, "Toki..D..Don't run off on me like that.."

Once more Aurora blinked before she quickly deposited the little egg back within it's pouch and stood to move towards Pales, lightly kneeling beside him. Her eyes were kind, and a bit worried.. strange in these times for strangers to show kindness to others. Though as she moved, she tried not to jostle the little puff resting firmly on her shoulder.

"Sir, are you alright...?" Perhaps it was from her care for birds that she was so kind to humans, or maybe instinctively she felt the need to be protective because of his nature. Though that, of course, is unknown to her consciously. The little pouch around her neck still continued to emit a warm, gentle glow, almost like the feeling of the sun upon your face on a warm day.

He took a deep breath and gulped it down, "Y..yeah. Was just worried...My little one ran off toward you..She could have gotten..h..hurt.." He calmed down some staring at the ground for a few moments. "I..am sorry. She isn't bothering you, is she?"

Once more she tilted her head to one side, in a very bird-like way which sometimes bothered her, and sometimes enthralled her how easily she could pick up the habits of a bird after shifting into one. Another rather odd thing about her was her hair at the moment seemed to be dyed after the color of a blue-jay, with blues, whites and blacks all mixed in together. A warm smile then came to her face as she lightly shook her head, turning it ever so slightly to look at the puff on her shoulder.

"No, she's not bothering me at all, Toki is it? What's brought you and your father over to me, little one?" She lightly reaches out a fingertip to try to touch the puff, not quite making the connection between the puff and her egg just yet.

Toki stared at the pouch for a long moment, "Shi...nee ..Pretties." She spoke brokenly.

Pales chuckled lightly, "Good, I am glad of that." He relaxed slightly though still watched the woman carefully as well as Toki, "I'm Pales D'Arcy by the way.." He introduced himself. It was only polite.

Lightly she furrowed her brow at Toki's response, obviously a bit confused by it. Why was the little thing staring at her breasts? Her thoughts were broken then, by Pales' introduction and she smiled, a soft hand reaching out towards him.

"Aurora Fiara, it's a pleasure to meet you, Pales D'Arcy." She grinned a little bit, before turning back to try to puzzle out the confusion with the little pink puff thing. Her grey eyes moved down to her chest, where the little pouch was glowing warmly. "Oh! That's what you're looking at, isn't it?" Lightly she removed the gum-drop sized egg once more, holding it out to Toki as it rested in her palm. "This is Cira. Or at least.. it will be if it will actually hatch like I suspect it to."

Pales nodded at the introduction and just watched for a moment then blinked at the egg produced, "That a Wethkin egg?" He almost stuttered.

Toki trilled happily, "Shi-nee, pretee...Sees?" Toki said to Pales.

Pales chuckled a bit but still looked a slight bit shocked, "I err..Toki is a larva puff Wethkin, that is why I asked.." He chuckled again and shook his head, "Funny meeting another guardian here." He gave a small smile looking at Aurora's face for a long moment.

Those pale grey eyes moved once more to Pales and she too appeared surprised by his question. "You.. know of the Wethkins? That's what the note called her, a sunshine Wethkin.." She tilts her head to Toki, watching her curiously. "A larva puff.. how interesting. I found Cira in the woods when I was fl.. er.. walking through at night. She was just there.. glowing, and I decided to take her home. I then found a note attached to my door about how to keep her healthy as an egg, and saying she would hatch eventually."

She certainly was a strange one, this girl, but Pale's face or mood didn't fluctuate he just nodded, "I found Toki while being lectured to death." Is all he said and gave a soft chuckle, "I got a note when I got home as well. It was really quite queer actually. Almost made me move address." He was normally shy around people but it seemed different around this person though he wasn't sure why, "Must have been meant for you." He added with a nod.

"Ment..foh.. yuu!" Toki chimed after.

Aurora giggled lightly as Toki chimes in with Pales, her grey eyes dancing with amusement. "I guess it must have been, though like you I was a little shocked to see it. It made me feel as though I was being... watched, or some such, y'know?" She laughed lightly at the concept, shaking her head. Though it had worried her immensely, not many knew everything about her, and she preferred to keep it that way.

He nodded, "I know how that is." He smiled a bit and rubbed his hands against his pants and shook his head. "Toki is a very happy little puff. She also makes me use a lot of my energy to keep up with her." He laughed slightly, "She is also very curious. I think she partially got that from me somehow." He smirked a bit, "Shiny and glittery is a common love we both share I guess."

"Shi-nees." She chirped happily.

She let out a very warm, heartfelt laugh at that, her smile practically causing her face to light up with happiness. "So I see! She's a very beautiful little thing though, isn't she? I hope Cira is like that, beautiful. I wouldn't want her to go through life being told she's ugly, and worthless." She stopped there, the smile fading from her face for a moment before she shook her head. "Well, I'm sure she won't. She'll be just gorgeous I'm sure." She turned to look at Pales, smiling rather gently now. "So, what brings you to the park, Mr. D'Arcy?"

He shrugged, "Toki likes the weather currently, so I take her out as often as I can while my other daughters are off at school and such. Just her and me. I try to take time out for all my children. Adopted or no." He chuckled softly and gave a small shrug, "It's hard being a single parent I guess.." He gave a small smile.

She nodded her head lightly at that, contemplating a little bit as she glanced down at her egg. "Yes, I suppose it is, isn't it? I'm sure I'll have my hands full when my little Cira hatches." She smiled a little bit, before she chuckled gently. "Well, if you ever need someone to babysit, just let me know. I don't have a whole lot to do these days. Not many friends here and all." She smiled warmly, lightly slipping the egg back in her pouch to keep it warm. But, she also left the top open to allow the sunlight to get inside it.

He chuckled lightly, "I'll be your friend." He said cheerfully while running a free hand through his hair, "I mean I don't see why not. We seem to get along quite well." He continued on though he was blushing slightly he didn't want to make it seem that he was coming on to her.

Her eyes once more twinkled with amusement as she noticed he was blushing slightly, and she began to tease him ever so slightly. Her eyes became wide as a doe's eyes, and her hand went to her heart. "Oh.. that is so -sweet- of you! Why, I don't think I've ever met a man as sweet and caring as you are!" She was, of course, teasing. Obvious by the way she then giggled and winked at him lightly.

He went a bit redder and chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck, "Ah yah? Eh-heh." He took it all good naturedly enough smiling all the while. His jade green eyes seeming to be quite mirthful at the act she put on. "You're funny." He replied his smile turning into a faint grin, the blush had begun to fade a bit.

Toki had begun to float off of Aurora's should a bit and floating about between them.

"Well, I'm glad someone seems to think so." She grinned at him lightly, rather enjoying the attention she was getting. Her eyes wandered over to the puff and she smiled lightly. "I think someone seems to be getting bored with all this grown-up talk, eh?"

He moved up and cupped his hands and Toki landed upon them, "Hard not to for her I guess." He said with a smile, "I used to pretend to be an airplane while my ... mother had company over." His smile faltered faintly and he shrugged, "Ah to be young and innocent again, ne?" he smiled.

Aurora nodded her head lightly, her fingertips lightly caressing the egg through the pouch. "Indeed. To be so oblivious to everything.. I sort of miss it in a way I suppose. Ignorance truely is bliss."

He gave a small nod, "Though it is always good to know what one knows now. Right?" He smiled a little and petted Toki with a finger tip lightly. She seemed to enjoy the attention no matter what it's form.
With a soft smile she nodded her head once more, those grey eyes of her turning a soft blue-ish color with her amusement. Was it the light? Or something more? They wandered up then, to the sky as she watched the birds twitter and fly above them. "They're beautiful, don't you think?" She gestured lightly to a blue-jay preening himself on a branch.

His head tilted up and he stared for a moment, there was no change in his face not a smile or anything, "Yeah...Birds are nice." He said faintly, "I like owls..." He looked away and nodded a bit, "I used to bird-watch but ..." He shrugs, "I guess I lost my taste for it.." He continued to pet Toki.

Lightly she blinked, her eyes moving back down to her face as she tilted her head, an expression of confusion present on her face. "Are you alright? I.. didn't say something that bothered you, did I?" She seemed.. shy all of a sudden, afraid to hurt her chances at finally having a friend here in Gaia.

He smiled lightly at her and shook his head, "Er..No. I just had bad experiences where birds are involved I guess." He bit on his lower lip, yea, real bad experiences. He looked down at Toki who peered up at him with concern, "I'm okay, really." He said to both of them.

She grimaced lightly then as she allowed her eyes to drop slightly. Bad experiences with birds? What would he do if he found out about what she.. was? Was she really something other then human now? All these thoughts ran quickly through her head, and she became so lost in them that she never responded to him. She just stared at the egg within its pouch, glowing a warm, bright light that now comforted her.

He shifted his shoulders a bit looking thoughtful, how to word this without seeming like he was hiding something, "I don't hate birds." He amended, "I just uhh.." He didn't wish to expose himself. Sure he wasn't just any type, he was a specific one. A were-creature he supposed, "I guess..I just can't look at them the same..."

Immediately she was brought out of her inner world of thoughts and back to reality as she glanced up at him. "You can't.. look at them the same? Why not?" A hand lifted up to lightly tuck back a strand of hair behind her ear. It must be odd, to see her ear, a mixture of blues, blacks and whites, much like that Blue-jay up there. In fact, it was patterned exactly like the blue-jay's feathers. How odd.

He lightly placed Toki upon his knee where she perched happily. He looked at Aurora and blinked a bit, he seemed to have finally noticed her hair, "Well uhh...Umm..Hey!" Change of subject, that was a good thing, "How'd you get that?" He pointed at her person, toward what he had noticed. It was hard not to notice several things about her, it was hard for him to ignore her now that he noticed her though he wasn't sure why.

Lightly Aurora tilted her head to look down at her hair, and suddenly she blushed a little bit, lightly nibbling on her lip. After what he had just said, she knew for a fact she couldn't tell him the truth, he'd probably turn tail and run the other way as fast as he could. "Oh, this? I like to dye my hair like this, after the color of a bird's feathers. It's.. a lot of fun for me." She smiled at him, though this time it wasn't one of her warm and bright ones, it was.. very fake, though she tried to hide that fact as best as she could. She never was very good at lying.

"Mmm. Neat, you do a good job then..." He leaned back a bit, supporting himself with his hands, he couldn't help but feel that they were dancing around eachother in an endless circle. There were things he wouldn't give up and there were things she wouldn't tell either. His eyes stared over to the side for a moment and went somewhat quiet, he seemed to debate, "Ever notice, how two people meet...They seem very open but yet they still wear masks?"

Very carefully her eyes moved to his, and a small rather sheepish smile came to her face at his words. "Yeah. Sort of like.. dancing back and forth. Can I trust him? Can he trust me? Should I leave now and pretend this never happened? It's all a game, I suppose. A game we play each time we come across someone new. Here in Gaia, it seems to be even more that way.. everyone has so many secrets to keep, so many reasons to hide and remain in the shadows."

He nodded slowly, "Kind of, and every once in a while there are two dancers...That know their moves so well they pretty much do it in time perfectly though they aren't sure why." He peered at her almost curiously for a moment. He wasn't sure what made him come to this particular subject other than his curiosity.

She nodded as well, lightly turning so she was laying down in the grass and staring up at the sky, her arms moving to rest beneath her head. "Perhaps.. because they have similar pasts, or experiences. Something about them is the same, something that causes them to dance the way they do." Her eyes turned lightly to watch him curiously, the sun reflecting off the gray and causing it to switch between blues, grays and silvers all at the same time. Not because of her mood, but just the way the light hit them.

He nodded slowly, "Perhaps. Though, say one of the dancers are tired and wants to trust someone, how can he know he trusts his partner? Is it a feeling they give or is it just fate?" He sounded thoughtful, like he was on the brink of a truth. There were a few others that knew about him, but knew to keep their traps shut.

For a moment she just watched him, as though somewhere in her head she was trying to figure him out. She wanted to tell him, but she was afraid to.. afraid of his reaction. "Perhaps.. because both dancers are tired and wish to stop and rest.. Maybe each one could make an agreement, if you stop I stop.. and in that way find trust within each other. I think.. both dancers hold a great secret, that each would like to keep that way.. or must keep that way.. and in that can trust the other to keep their secret from others?"

He nodded again carefully. Toki had long fallen asleep, having tired herself out from the earlier actions, "Yeah, maybe." He said softly, "Aurora, I...I want to be very honest with you about everything." He said suddenly, "But, I am afraid to..." He said a little softer, "I feel like...I can trust you." He peered at her for a moment, "And I would like you to feel the same about me.."

Very gently she sat up, careful not to jar her egg too much as she lifted a hand to lightly brush through her hair. "I.. there's something about you, that makes me feel we're very alike but I can't figure out what it is. Trust me, I'm afraid as well.. There's things about me I've never told anyone but.. I want to. I don't understand why I want to tell you specifically but.. perhaps it's just a connection? Like.. maybe our souls are good friends or something. I don't know.."

He shrugged a bit then nodded, "That might be it." He smiled a bit ruefully, "It's weird, cause I never met anyone quite like you before, I guess." He gave a small chuckle and looked up into the tree again, "I...Have been called many things in my time, one of which was a monster. I was only called that once...That was the only other time I was exposed, the first time.."

Lightly she frowned, a bit confused as she watched him. "A monster? How could anyone possibly call you a monster? So far.. well.. really you're the first person I've met and talked to, but you seem like a really nice person to me.."

He smiled a bit, it almost seemed bitter, "I am a shifter, I guess more of a were-creature except I don't do any of that zany moon stuff. I am in control of myself, and I hate myself...My...Mentor says I shouldn't. He says I should be proud of myself and my heritage..." He looked at her, "But what does a monster have to be proud of?"

"You're only a monster because you believe you are. Just because you can shift into something.. that doesn't make you a monster. That's.. just the outside. It's like the difference between being beautiful and thinking you're ugly. It's all about perception. Where it really counts, is your heart.. in your heart, do you think you're a monster?" She bit down on her lip lightly, wondering just what kind of shifter he might be. And, fleetingly if she was in any danger, though she quickly pushed that thought away, disgusted with herself for even thinking it.

He looked down at Toki and seemed to think for a moment. He then gently picked her up in his hands and offered her to the girl, "I don't like doing this, but this is better shown..It hurts so I think I should hand her off to you before I throw her off somewhere." Toki murbled sleepily.

Her brows furrowed at that, her hands gently taking the little Wethkin puff, fingertips moving to instinctively caress her to keep her calm and help her sleep. "..Are.. are you sure you want to do this?"

He glanced around a bit, the park was empty except for them, "Yeah, it's good here. I...Feel like I need to show you this. Compelled you know, so you can understand..I could just tell you but..That wouldn't be the same.."

Lightly she noded her head, a little bit nervous about just what he's going to show her. She continued to stroke Toki's head, but remained quiet as she just watched and waited.

Pales stood and took off his coat and boots, then he took a few steps back and started to concentrate. His skin began to turn back and his body elongated and became rather denser muscled than before. His clothes bore tightly against his form until there was a faint ripping against arms of the shirt and the pants tore. He was obviously gritting so as not to cry out, sweat beading upon his forehead, it hurt a lot. After a few moments feathers began to appear and he was forming a beak..

Her eyes widened lightly as she watched him, and she had to force herself not to stand up and take a few steps away. It wasn't until the feathers started to form, and then the beak that her eyes widened for a different reason. He.. he was a bird shifter. Like her except.. more painful it seemed. Part of her wanted to comfort him during that pain, but the other part wasn't so sure that it was safe. She'd always heard the stories about were-wolves not being able to control themselves when they shifted, she wasn't sure if the same applied to were.. was that a crow? Or a raven? She couldn't tell just yet.

After a few more moments the change was complete. It was a crow it seemed. His beak made a small clipping sound as if trying to get used to it, he swayed slightly as he stood getting used to the new height. He stared at her with his still green eyes, they still held kindness in them and a sense of 'human' thought. He cawed softly spreading out his "wings" which used to be his arms.

She stood, slowly then and took a few steps towards him. Lightly, her fingertips reached out towards his neck, and if allowed her fingers would lightly touch the feathers there, as in a comforting gesture. To herself, she wondered if.. her ability to speak with birds would apply to were-birds. It was worth a shot, eh? "You can understand me.. right?" To any others listening, it would sound as though she were chirping at him.
He gave a faint nod and blinked cocking his head, a faintly bird-like nature taking over his action. He had bent his form slightly to her, allowing her to touch. It took a lot of trust for him to do that and that much was visible the way his body hesitated for but a moment when she reached for him.
Lightly she smiled at him as she took a step away and played Toki on the ground, making sure where she placed her was in a pile of leaves, soft and comforting. She reached beneath her shirt and lightly she produced the hawk feather she always kept with her and tied it to her bra using a bit of string she kept there as well. For a moment she closed her eyes as he had, concentrating, and unlike his transformation, hers was quick and painless. Immediately she was transformed into the species of hawk that the feather belonged too, though this time actually scaled down to actual size. She fluffed her wings a little bit, experimentally, before she looked up at him to see his reaction.

He cawed softly at her he seemed to think about it for a moment and suddenly began to shrink down, again this transformation seemed rather painful and he losses a few feathers in the process. Though since he was half way there it didn't take much until he was a full crow. An abnormally large crow, but a crow none-the-less.

It was too bad Aurora didn't have a crow feather, otherwise she would have been able to change into that. But, for some reason the crows she had come across had been extremely unwilling to accept her help for anything. She hopped towards him and tilted her head to one side to be able to get a better look at him, it always took her awhile to get used to the way a bird's sight worked after she first changed. And she seemed to get a little disoriented at first, but quickly recovered as she became used to it once more.

He spread out his wings a bit. He seemed amused more than anything. Deep down he was glad Toki was asleep or else she'd be afraid for sure. His clothes, embarrassingly enough laid strewn about behind him. His clothes unfortunately didn't change with the form.

Aurora was lucky in that respect then, her clothes did change with her form, and even the little egg that had been around her neck was still there. The cord of the pouch had shrunk, so it wouldn't drag on the ground, but it was still there around her neck, and the little egg still rested warmly inside it. With an amused look, her eyes almost giggling she took off for a moment and flew around him, loving the feel of the air beneath her wings before she settled back down on the ground. And then, playfully, she grabbed his pants and started trying to drag them away, as though she was going to hide them somewhere.

He let out a small caw sound and started to hop toward her to grab at what was left of his poor shreaded pants. Surely it'd be more of a skirt by the time it was all said and done. He flapped his wings a time or two, almost lifting up off of the ground.

She skrees at him lightly, almost chuckling as she releases his pants, and go instead for his shredded shirt. How was he going to get out of here, anyway? With shredded clothes that would barely cover anything. She could take him back to her house but.. she didn't really have any male-ish clothes there.

He hopped after again, he was just thankful he still had boots and jacket, those would sustain him, even if he would look like a perve that got off on exposing himself to young women, but he was a fast walker. Stopped and stared at her as if daring her to go for the shirt.

She paused for a moment, watching him for a split second before she hopped fast for the shirt, scooping the material into her beak and then attempted to take off into the sky with it, her wings flapping hard. No wonder she had such strong arms.

He pretty much hopped and dove for the shirt, using his wings as a mechanism to do so, but it was too late. He laid there for a moment before staying on the ground glancing at the puff for a moment then peering up at the other bird. Hmmph. Jacket. Still had the jacket..

With a triumphant, but muffled screech she flew in low, trying to maneuver with the shirt until suddenly the wind changed and caused it to get caught up in her wings. She fought with it, to try to regain her altitude, but it was a hopeless endeavor and she tumbled to the ground. At least she was flying low, so she wasn't hurt, but.. she was still tangled. She let out a skree of frustration, squirming and flapping her wings to try to get out of it.

He let out a light caw and quickly hopped over to her to try and help her out, careful not to pinch any meaty part of her. Pulling and tugging he tried to untangle her, if that doesn't work she may have to see him naked, mentally he blushed at that, he should avoid that at all costs he decided and continue to work through it as a crow. They'd get her out in a year about, yeah that's about right, maybe by then Toki'll be a child and be able to use her fingers to help.

She continued to squirm and flap, her beak picking at the shirt until with a frustrated skree she hopped away from him and closed her eyes, transforming back into her usual, human-y self. Which, of course, caused the shirt to rip apart due to the size difference. Suddenly, her eyes went wide as saucers and she glanced down at the pouch around her neck. "Oh god. The egg's gone!" It must have tumbled out when she hit the ground.. hopefully it wasn't cracked. Quickly her eyes scanned the immediate area, looking for anything small and glowing.

He let out a rather loud caw and suddenly took off to the sky and began to circle the area, thinking it better this way. He just hoped she'd stay to watch over Toki while she snoozed away. He swore that puff could possibly sleep through 3 train wrecks and an earth quake as he flew swooping down near by to get a better look at the ground to make sure some grass wasn't covering it.

Auri watched as Pales suddenly took off, and she stood as if to go off and help him look for it until she caught a glimpse of Toki sleeping there on the ground. She couldn't leave her here alone, God knows what would happen to her. She settled back down on the ground and lightly took Toki into her lap, allowing her to rest there. Anxiously she waited for Pales, hoping he would find it.. she'd be so angry at herself if she lost that egg, or it cracked. She didn't want to be seen as a bad caretaker, and she was worried about it.

He came back after a few moments but kept searching, He then noticed that a part of the shirt was sort of glittering and glowing, it was possible to have missed this particular glow because it was dim and not the usual shine they were used to. He hopped over to the shirt and tore a hole into it with his beak instead of shaking the shirt about and risk breaking the egg. He took it very gently and glided over to Aurora and stood there all proud of himself for thinking so quickly.

Her eyes widened as she saw Pales rip through the shirt to the egg, and very carefully opened her hands to take it from him, checking all over it to make sure it wasn't cracked or bruised in anyway. "Oh Pales.. thank you. Thank you so much.."

He carefully dropped the egg into her offered hand and let her check it over. He looked at Toki where she laid and let out a soft crooning sound, a fatherly action if anything. He then looked over to his clothes and let out a soft sigh flapping his wings he hopped over to his jacket, grabbed it in his beak and began to drag it over.

She glanced up at him quietly, watching for a moment before she stood, placing Toki on her shoulder carefully and moved over to pick up the jacket and his boots. She was sure to deposit the egg back into the pouch again, though. "Alright, where do you want me to take them?"

He let her take the jacket, as he had not much choice in the matter, he peered behind the tree, and cocked his head toward it.

Lightly she nodded her head and moved behind the tree, placing the jacket and the boots down behind it. She moved away then, and settled down in the grass with her back to the tree, and with her eyes closed as well, just in case. "Let me know when you're done."

He cawed in thanks and hopped where she had placed the items and began to change. There was some cracking sounds and a soft groan as the process finished, "Damn it that hurts." He mutters softly and then the soft shuffle of clothes is heard as he puts on his jacket and buttons it up so as that none of him is exposed. He also slipped on his boots. Toki opened one eye and murbled questioningly before yawning big and just nestling down a bit with a small sigh.

She smiled lightly at Toki, lifting a finger to lightly caress her as she waited for Pales to say he was done. She was a bit worried though, about the pain it seemed to cause him, though at the same time she was touched that he had endured that to show her. It was.. confusing.

Once happy that it was all secure, "Alright. I am decent now." He laughed a bit and stepped forward a few times, "Sorry about that. Didn't want to umm.." He blushed and shrugged. "So yeah...Monster is what the first girl called me after I saved her from a rapist...I guess it is a little scary. I can sort of see why you weren't quite scared though still.."

Her eyes drifted open and she turned to look at him, offering up a warm smile. "I.. honestly I was at first, until I realized just what it was you were turning into. Besides, I reasoned with myself that you wouldn't have shifted into that, if you felt that you would lose control and harm me, right? So.. I wasn't scared at all after that." She stood then, lightly taking Toki off her shoulder to hand to him. "Thank you.. for trusting me."

He gently took Toki and smiled a bit, "I'd never hurt you. Never ever." He smiled a bit, "Thank you for trusting me too then.." He replied lightly petting Toki. It felt weird talking to her, probably because of his current state of dress. He shifted his shoulders a bit.

Her eyes traveled down to where she could see that he didn't have on any socks, and she giggled lightly, realizing he was naked beneath that outfit. She blushed suddenly, at that thought. "Perhaps.. you should head home and get some new clothes on..?"

He nodded slightly blushing a bit more because she was blushing, "Yeah. I guess so.." He bit a little on his lower lip. "I uhh.." He put Toki upon his shoulder and got out a piece of napkin and managed to find a pen in his pocket as well, he scribbled down his number and address, "There, if you want to come over and stuff.." He offered the slightly crumbled napkin to her.

She smiled gently, tearing off a piece of the napkin as she did the same in kind, offering him the torn piece with her address and number. "I'd love to, sometime. When you're.. not so indisposed. Just give me a call, I work sometimes at a bookstore, but more often then not I'll be home." She didn't mention the fact that the reason why she was home all the time was she didn't have any friends, didn't know anyone, even after three years of living on Gaia.

He took it and smiled a bit, and accepted the scrap. He thought for a moment, "Hey uhh...Got something to do tomorrow? Maybe we can hang out again?" It was about the closest to a date he'd ask anyone out on. "W..We can go out to dinner or something, just friends y'know?"

She laughed softly as she nodded her head. "I'd have to check my calendar.. Oh, who am I kidding. I'd love to, Pales." She blushed a little bit, her arms slipping around her stomach as she smiled a rather happy smile. "What time do you want me to show up? And where?"

He glanced around a bit, "Here is good. I can remember here, and whatever time is good for you." He let out a small sigh, that was easier than expected. He folded his hands behind his back after making sure the scrap was placed in a safe pocket.

She grinned then, lofting an eyebrow. "A picnic then! That sounds lovely. I'll bring a blanket and utensils and such, if you'll bring the food." Her heart got a little nervous at what was going on, but she was able to keep it under control. "And how about sometime in the evening. Eight o' clock? It's always beautiful under the stars this time of year, with little fire-flies buzzing around."

He blinked and chuckled lightly, "Sure. I'll uhh, leave Toki at home and have the girls watch over her..." He nodded faintly. That seemed appropriate enough. "Then it's all settled? You won't get mad if I am late will you?" He chuckled a bit more.

She giggled at him lightly, a bit of mischevious-ness in her eyes. Yes, she was extremely playfull, and a bit of a flirt. "Only if I get a kiss for every minute you're late." She grinned at him, just waiting to see his reaction.

He went extremely red in the face and let out what seemed to be a giggle. "Ah hehehe. W..We'll see about that." he wore a small grin trying to get the blush to fade out. By his ear he heard a giggle. Toki seemed to have awakened.

Auri glanced down at Toki and she laughed softly, shaking her head. "Well, I'll see you here at 8 tomorrow night, then." She waved to both of them before turning and heading in the direction of her home, figuring it was as good a time to leave as any.

"See you then." He agreed then turned to make his way home as well making sure his coat didn't decide to pop open, oh god that would be embarrassing. He sighed to himself, though before leaving he gathered his shredded remains of clothes and tucked them under his clothes, he muttered under his breath, "It looks like a wolverine had its way with me."

Toki simply giggled and murbled, "Wuul-ver-ene!"

Dear Journal,

It sounds a bit odd to call you a diary, or a journal for that matter. But at least journal doesn't make it sound so tempting to read, I think. Anyway, I've visted the Wethkin shop that Pales told me about, and I met Kimi and Nicco there. Nicco seems to be a bright young Wethkin who aspires to be a rockstar, and Kimi, his mother I suppose you could call her, loves him completely. At least as far as I saw. I'm a bit jealous, honestly, that they seem to be so sure of themselves, so happy, and I wonder if I'll be able to help Cira when she needs me, if I'll have the answers she seeks. I just hope I'll be a good mother.

I went to have dinner with Pales D'Arcy the other night, the first Wethkin owner I've met. He.. was handsome, to say the least. And kind, caring, loveable.. and he has the most kissable lips, let me tell you. I would know, too, considering I was given the chance to kiss them.

Yes yes, I know, it's all moving rather sudden. Add onto the fact that he wants me to move in with him and it's moving at break-neck speed. I have my apprehensions, but I've been alone for so long that.. it would be nice to share my life with someone again.

Ah, I'm getting off on a tangent here, aren't I? I apologize.

Anyway, Kimi relayed to me that Cira might be ready to hatch in a few days and I'm extremely excited about that happening. I can't wait to see what she looks like! I'm also apprehensive, and nervous about it as well. What if something goes wrong? What if she can't get out of her egg? Should I help her? I'll have to watch over her day and night, I guess I'm not getting any sleep anytime soon, am I? Not that I did much before anyway, she glows like the sun at night!

I'll write more later, when I have the chance. For now, I'm going to go cook some dinner while I watch over Cira.

Dear Journal,

Remember that part in that last entry where I said I was going to watch her day and night until she hatched? Yeah, that one. I failed. I had -just- fallen asleep on the bed, when I started to feel this.. warmth on my face, and I opened my eyes and she was glowing! Well, alright yeah she always glowed, but this was brighter then ever before. Then, in a flash of blinding light, the egg was gone and there was this.. little puff. Much like Pales' Toki, except different shaped. It never occured to me that my little puff might look -just- like Toki.

Oh she's absolutely beautiful, and she's very happy and glad to be out of her shell. She's still trying to get using to having a mouth right now, so she zooms around (yes, zooms. Well, hovers, but zooms when she's moving!) making this sound that's ironically similar to the Japanese word "Ow", but I'm fairly sure it doesn't mean the same thing.

Gah! I think she's found my stash of cookies behind my bed, I'd better go and keep her from eating those, I don't need her even more hyperactive then she already is!

... What -do- Wethkins eat? I'll have to ask Kimi or Pales about that one.

Dear Journal,

Wow, it's been quite awhile since I posted, hasn't it? Well, that's actually a really long story but in a nutshell Cira and I ended up hitting some sort of time-space warp while we were flying around. Gotta love the world of Gaia, random stuff all over the place.

Anyway, even more shocking was I ended up back home. Home as in, my old home, on my old world, with my father. Now -that- was weird. He was surprised to see me, none-the-less, and I came up with some story about needing to get out and travel the world.

He was the same jerk he always was.

I had to be careful with Cira, he couldn't see her but I really didn't want to end up in some type of loony bin for talking to thin air as he would see it. And he'd probably sell me off someplace just to make a couple bucks, so the less reasons I give him the better.

Anyway. I must be destined for Gaia, because Cira and I ended up right back in my bed one night while we were sleeping, and woke up back here after almost a year being gone. It feels so good to be back in my place, with my bed and my journal and all the weirdness that is Gaia.

Cira's doing wonderfully, she's learning how to talk really well, picking it up fairly fast considering I didn't get to talk to her a whole lot back home, only at night and only in whispers, otherwise my father's servants would hear me and report back to him. I feel really awful that she had to go through that, and I hope it won't affect her as she grows. She is certainly more hyper now that we're back, probably because I couldn't let her go out much, once again I didn't want to chase after "nothing" while she zoomed off and everyone was watching me. I worry about her alot after that, probably more then I should. She seems like a resilient little creature, I just hope we can get back into the swing of things here in Gaia, and go back to a normal life.

This time without any men posing to be loving "fathers" please.
