It was a cold night, he noticed absently, despite the scorching heat that burned all through the day. The young stallion let loose an aggravated sigh as he heaved himself up onto all fours again, shaking his body free of the stubborn clumps of dirt that clung to his leopard-spotted coat. One ear twitched absently as his tail swung back and forth, tilting his head skywards to enjoy the feel of the cool breeze on his face.

Lunathiel left the village stepping very lightly almost like a butterfly, there was no way she wanted to get caught by Bandit. Once she was far enough away from her familliar and any that would find her insane she began to sway with each step. She was becoming rather fond of her late night strolls and swims. She paused as a cool breeze washed over her carrying wonderful scents. The trees, the river, birds, and...a horse?
She pulled her head back and looked around rather confused. She thought everyone was still in the village, but then why was this smell so new? She took another look in the darkness but still nothing was there, or was there? Squinting her eyes she could just barely make out something moving in the shadows. "Ah..." She stepped back a bit afraid and given the recent events she couldn't be blamed.

A curious blink of his golden hues were all that followed as his sleep-deprived mind tried to register what that unfamiliar scent was, what that blurry blob of- oh. A mare. A sheepish grin adorned his ebony features as he took a slow step forward so as not to frighten her, head dipping low in an apology. "Pardon me, miss, I didn't mean to scare you, I'm just rather disoriented at the moment." As if to punctuate the statement, he began to sway unsteadily, leaning slightly against the tree until his dizziness passed.

Still a litte unsure of the creature, appearently a stallion judging by the voice, she crept a bit closer to examine him. She squinted her eyes and studied him closely, he didn't look particuarly feirce leaning against a tree. Just a normal soquili, black...so that was why he seemed to be a living shadow. "Are you alright?" She asked lowering her gaurd a little bit. He wasn't one of those cursed creatures she had been warned about nor was he a kalona. In her mind that made him pretty safe, even if he was cruel she'd stand a better chance against a normal horse like herself. "Good..." she said in a barely audible tone.

"Yes, thank you, I'm fine, I just haven't slept in a few days..." Opening one eye to look at her curiously, he pushed himself off of the tree trunk and tried to shake the dust from his gleaming coat. He figured he knew why she was scared- he'd been there as well to witness the 'skinwalker' incident... he'd just chosen to stay hidden. He took a step into the dim moonlight cautiously, trying to look non-threatening as he appraoched her. He stopped at a respectful distance and dipped onto one knee in his usual dramatic greeting, offering a warm grin as well as he straightened. "My name is Shadow. It's a pleasure to meet you, miss..?"

Lunathiel arched an eyebrow, she would never get used to such formal greetings. He was rather hadsome though, the bow actually suited him somehow. "Lunathiel..."She supplied finally feeling that if he hadn't attacked her by now he wasn't going to. "It's kinda long though...so Luna would be fine." She gave one short nod to emphasize this. Looking back down at him she shifted slightly a little uncomfortable. she was more used to looking people in the eye during the initial greetings. "Why do you do that...?"

"Well then, it's a pleasure to meet you, miss Luna." He offered her his trademark lopsided grin as he shifted to stand comfortably, but it faded away as he noticed her discomfort and uneasiness, a look of concern adorning his features. He looked surprised at her question, tilting his head to one side thoughtfully as he pondered his answer. "I suppose it's sort of a habit, at least for mares..." he grinned sheepishly. "My mother's influence, probably."

"I see..." She glanced down to the ground feeling the air becoming a bit uneasy. She kicked herself mentally knowing that it had been her doing. In an attempt to lighten the mode she looked him dead in the eye and mimiced his grin, badly. Her eye twitched slightly, the grin felt odd to her so she dropped it settling for a gentle smile. "So...you said you hadn't slept for a while...shouldn't you at least be trying to rest?" She kicked herself mentaqlly again. She sounded like someones mother would. Not exactly something she wanted to do.

He blinked confusedly for a moment, taking note of her uneasiness, then broke into soft laughter, shaking his head as he tried to regain control... but every time he would meet her confused gaze, he would break into another round of chuckling. It seemed that he was not the only soquili with conversational problems, after all. "I'm sorry," he said after his laughter had subsided, although mirth was still clearly visible in his golden irises. "You just... remind me a lot of myself."

Lunathiel pulled her leg back into the air slightly weary about the black stallion's laughter. The more outbursts he had the more she considered running from him. She was three seconds from bolting when he shocked her into stumbling. "W-what?!" She asked regaining her posture as quickly as she could. He had just thrown her for a rather large loop. She had never heard that before, except from Jeevita, but that didn't count. After all the two were like reflections. "I'm like you...?"

"Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that you look like me," he teased lightly with a grin, "you just seem to be uncomfortable with making conversation. I'm glad I'm not the only one lacking skills in that department." Another few chuckles followed this statement. He didn't want to appear unfriendly at all, so he surpressed his laughter.

"Oh!" she let out a sigh of relief blushing faintly at her silliness. She laughed along with him for a while at her self mostly. She couldn't understand why she had been nervous and cautious about him at all, he was so kind. Her laughs softened till they were just giggles when the light of the moon vanished leaving her blinking for a moment.
Her gaze fell on the skies and her expression fell. Storm clouds were blocking out the wonderful night sky. "Uh-oh..." She looked over to Shadow, face asking what they should do.

He smiled warmly, the remaining tension in his muscles draining away as he watched her laugh, noting to himself that it was a pleasant sound. The blush was quite endearing, too, but he dared not say anything about it. He followed her gaze upwards as he heard her concerned comment, brow creasing in thought as he wracked his brain for a place that they could take shelter for the storm. His eyes lit up as something came to mind, and he motioned eagerly for her to follow him as he trotted off towards the rocky cliffs.
He led her to a cavern that was small, dark, and dirty, but at the very least, it was dry. He offered an apologetic grin as he looked at the floor. "I know it's not very befitting of a lady such as yourself, but at least it will be dry."

She followed the stallion closely ignoring the few drops falling on her back and ears. A feeling of nervousness washed over her as they trotted to the cliffs, bad memories of the past. She shuddered and moved closer to Shadow as she gazed into the cave. There was no climbing involved, a huge relief for her. A bolt of lightning flashed above her head before she bolted into the cave ignoring his words.
"It's fine, dirt never hurt anyone!" she said cheerfully trying to hide her fear. She wasn't sure if she was being convincing enough so she flopped onto the floor sending a cloud of dirt into the air. Through her coughs and sputters she managed to choke out, "See?"
