Iamel was big. BIG! He had grown approximately three feet - he had measured - and he was skinny with WINGS and he looked at LEAST seventeen and OH THE JOY.
This joy, of course, had to be spread to his bestest best friendin the whole best friend world: Diacyn.
Yes, he was still thinking a bit childishly but that would fade, soon enough.
So! Prepped out in one of his snarky shirt,s black new jeans and all that good s**t, the woodpecker found himself in front of Taylors dorm. Knock knock knock! His voice was deeper then before, still pitched a bit nasally, but it was him.
"Taylor? Diacyn?"

THWUMP!
This, emanating from behind the door, was the sound of Diacyn beating the stuffing- literally- out of a poor, innocent pillow that had formerly belonged to Taylor. It was now being used as a punching bag.
THWUMP! THWUMP! "....what?"
The door creaked open and Diacyn peered out, sweating slightly, the ragged remains of the pillow in one hand. "Iamel, is that-"
The owl literally did a double-take, and practically gave himself whiplash while craning his neck up to examine this new- tall- what the <********!" Diacyn threw the pillow into the air (hitting Taylor in the face as she came to look out the door) and tackled his friend in the knees. "WHAT HAPPENED?"
"Wh- buh-" This was Taylor, doing about the same thing Diacyn had. "Iamel?"

"Hi?" Iamel offered the minute his friend poked out, a grin on his lips. He had FUR under that PIERCED lower lip. It was cool! It was FUN. All in all - it had been a decent week. Shiniee was back and he was grown and Diacyn was staring at him. All was well.
The woodpecker squeaked rather loudly as he was tackled. The clutched-onto legs wavered and Iamel soon found himself on the ground, bony a** first, hands on the floor. Face-to-face with Diacyn. But he was still grinning. "I grew up! It hurt like a ********, though. Right in the mall." He nodded and wriggled his legs experimentally under the snowy owl.
"Hi, Taylor! Do I look older? I feel older."

"Y- you look-" Taylor stammered for a moment, trying to wrap her brain around the situation. "You look a LOT older," she finally managed. "Like... my age! You look as old as I am!" She squinted at Diacyn for a minute, trying to picture him three feet taller. "...is he gonna do this too? I can't be raising a kid who grows faster than I do."
Diacyn grinned twice as widely as Iamel, pleased he was still a little stronger then his friend, at least. "You got hurt in the mall? Where's that? Is that a bone or something?" He prodded Iamel's bony chest experimentally.
Taylor winced. "Uh... we don't go shopping much."
Diacyn was still busy talking, though. "Your wings grew too! Can you fly! I wanna see you fly! ...though you'd probably hit the ceiling..."

"I dunno how tall we'll all get - I haven't talked to Shanuh yet." The poking made him squeak, foot moving to give the boys stomach a little boy in retaliation. Mwuahaha! He was flexible still!
"The mall is a place where you buy clothes and stuff. I was yelling at 'Keelah and it... well, growing hurts a LOT. I thought I was being ripped apart and I fell and when I looked up again.. I was taller then my Shiniee! Oh! AND Shiniee came home! He was gone but now he's back."
Another firm nod and then the woodpecker reached over, grabbing the owl under his arms. It was akward sitting like that. A pause and then he pulled Diacyn up higher on his frame, making a soft oof noise. "My kneeeeeeees. Thy're gonne bruise now, jerk." Poking his temple, "I haven't tried to fly yet...they're still sore."

"Hey!" Diacyn poked Iamel again before being lifted into the air. "Stoppit! I'll grow up and be taller then you and THEN we'll see!" He laughed, though, trying to tug at Iamel's chin-fuzz. "Your Shinee was gone? Is that why you weren't smiling normally for a while?"
Yes, Diacyn still remembered that one day at the Birdcage. Though he didn't want to admit it, Iamel's false smile then had disturbed him more then a legion of evil ninja pirate aliens.
"We'll have to try and fly when you feel better, okay? I bet you could."

He laughed at the tugging of his chin-fuzz, shoving at the others bald head. "I fear when the rest of you guys grow. I might be the shortest one again, but I was the FIRST. So there." The woodpecker snickered and then paused at the question about hsi shiniee and his smile.
"Yeah.. he, uhm. Just walked out of the house. Didn't come back for almst a month. But he's back now." A firm nod and for some reason, his face was red. He didn't like talking about hsi SHniee missing until - "I found him and slammed him with a shopping cart. He's all bruised up because of it."
Iamel smirked in rememberance of slamming his Shiniee with the car, one hand moving to rub at the shinie baldness of his friends head fondly. "Okay. We'll have to try doin' that. I want to fly - it'd be SO cool."

"You WILL be the shortest," Diacyn confirmed, nodding sagely. "But... you were the first... so you get bonus points for that." He nodded again.
"What- you hurt him with a cart? That's cool. Served him right if he left you like that." Diacyn was fast developing a dislike for Iamel's Shinee... he had already attacked the man once for making his friend sad, and he had no problem with doing it again if neccecary. "If he does it again, call me and we'll crash a car into him."
That was ANOTHER thing Iamel could do, Diacyn realized. "Can you drive now? You're old enough. But first you have to fly. Come one!" Wiggling free, he drageed Iamel by one hand into his room, past a startled-looking Taylor. "There." He pointed to the open second-story window. "I can climb outa there, but you could fly out. Right?"
Taylor sighed. "Diacyn, that really isn't a good idea..." Normally she would have been more upset about it, but Iamel's growth had her mind busy for the moment. She was already plotting how to document the inevitable moment when Diacyn grew up, and trying to figure out what to do when she had a boy her age living in her room. It was problamatic.

"I saw him in the store, got angry, slammed him with a cart. I got SO mad that I made the elevator we were in shut off." He grinned at that, a little proudly, "Then I threw apples at him. He was bruised up." Another nod from the woodpecker, hand reaching for Diacyns ears - she he was pulled.
Iamel stumbled with him, body still akward and that was when he wasn't being pulled by a diminutive Drip of Despair. "Shiniee says I can't drive 'till I stop acting like a ten year old." His nose wrinkled, hesitating slightly at the window. "... I dunno. I've never flown before, Diacyn. If I die, Shanuh would be PISSED."

Diacyn laughed at the mental image of Iamel's attack on Patrick. "Apples, huh? Good idea. And you broke the elevator? That's really cool! Shanuh was right about us having all kindza magic and stuff."
He paused for thought, scratching his bald cranium irritably. "But you're a Faucet of Death, right? Or a guardian thingy? I don't think you CAN die."
Could he? Where did they stand on the spectrum of life and death? The metaphysical implications were far too much for Diacyn's uneducated mind, so he went with the simplest conclusion. "Well, if you die and he's angry, I'll beat him up for you." Problem solved.

"If I bleed, I think I can die." Iamel laughed a little, fingers moving down to hook the hem of his shirt. "Fine.. fine. I'm gonna try. But I swear to god, Diacyn, if I die and you let Xaxis EAT me, I'm going to haunt you and eat your face. Yeah?"
His hands tug and he pulled his shirt up, over his head, nose wrinkling. "Hold my shirt, Taylor. I like it." The woodpecker tossed the shirt towards the girl and Iamel moved towards the window, sliding onto the window sill and toeing off his boots as well. They'd weigh him down.

Taylor knew she should have yelled at the maniac birds, yelped something about suicide, and tackled Iamel to the ground. But her oh-so-adolescent mind had a few kinks to work out first. Like the SHIRTLESS BOY. In her ROOM. That was certainly a first for the science nerd. By the time she shook the fireworks out of her head, the woodpecker was already at the windowsill.
"You won't die!" Diacyn encouraged him, happily jumping up and down. "You'll FLY! And you can laugh at Xaxis too. But I wouldn't let him eat you."
"Taylor, you've got a camera, right? We can take pictures! This is science-y, isn't it?"
"IT'S SUICIDAL!" It seemed the girl had finally come to her senses. "Iamel, get off of there!"

Iamel gave Taylor a ragged grin at her frantic yelp, wriggling his green socks enthusiastically. "Suicide is Shanuh," He informed her cheerfully, leaning back to lock his arms on the outside of the window sill. There was sun on his back - it felt rather refreshing.
The wings, themselves, stretched to their fullest. They flapped a few times, flexing their muscles, and Iamel ducked so his head was outside too. "I just make things blow UP!" He was laughing, almost yelling the words.
Bare toes flexed on the ground, legs hiking up to press on the inside sil and to propell the rest of his body up. So now he was standing, stomach pressed against the window, feet on the sil and his head and most of his upper torso outside of the window.
He was still laughing.
"Be prepared to catch me, Diacyn!" The woodpecker whooped. His feet shifted back on the window sill of the poor girls bedroom ....
.....
and he jumped.
Surprisingly, he didn't die. There were no glorious flights like in X-men but... he was there. in the air. A gust of air had caught his wings, and he was hovering there momentarily, wings flapping roughly in the wind.
He was still laughing, hands reaching out for the ledge. "******** ******** ********! I'm too heavy! Wings can't do it!" Iamel snorted out, hands grsping the edge of the window as his wings began to flag, scramblin to pull himself up.
"s**t! Help me up!"

"WOW!" Diacyn gasped at first. "You're flying! You're goddamn flying! Lookit!" He was jumping around in his excitement, almost hovering himself as his white wings whipped the air. Even Taylor was speechless for a minute, but luckily Diacyn was covering for her. "You rock, Iamel! This is- oh, crap."
Nearly tripping over his own feet in a panic, Diacyn dashed to the window and grabbed one of Iamel's bony wrists. "Uuurg... you're heavy, Iamel!" Bracing his feet against the wall, he managed to keep the woodpecker hanging in one spot, at least for a few minutes. Before Iamel could fall, though, Taylor grabbed his other wrist and the two began to drag him upwards.
"That was still really cool, though," Diacyn was blabbering, grinning madly. "You just need more practice."
"But not now, okay?" Taylor gasped, still recovering from the brief moment of panic. "I could have TOLD you it wouldn't work. Your wings still aren't big enough for your body mass..."
"Good timing," Diacyn grumbled.

His fingers moved to grip Diacyns smaller wrist like a lifeline, bare feet scraping on the side of the building. "I'm not heavy!" He grunted, stomach and shoulders straining to pull himself up. Taylors wrist, too, was clutched as they began a stuggle uwards into the room.
The woodpecker rolled inside, landing on his back, laughing still. The rush was coursing through his veins still, making him rather giddy. Diacyn was hovering about him and Taylor was freaking out... The woodpecker just gave her a rough grin. His chest heaved with endorphine-fueled pants, eyes sliding shut finally.
"Not now," He agreed, voice hoarse from his own brief scare - despite the smile on his face, "But practice later. We're NOT in the realms of normal s**t, Taylor. Practice WILL make us stronger, physics be damned."
Iamel pushed himself up slowly, head tilting back to peer up, once again, at Diacyn. "YOU almost looked like you were floatin' for a minute there, though. Got a little higher."
