The year is 2010 - and mankind marches on.
President Shwatzanegger has won the popular vote by a landslide for his conservtive doctrine and his stance of zero tolerence for terrorists, beating out his oppoent Hiliary Clinton by a five to one Ratio.
Iraq has ceased to exist in one of the most dramtic losses of life the world has ever known, apparently Saddam did have WMDs and the insurgents founf them. Iraq is now a Badland, the entire area is unlivable and irradiated and will stay that way for the next thousand years. The detonation on August 3rd 2007, at 10:15 am made Nagasaki and Hiroshima look like popguns, the resuting shockwave caused an EMP blackout that thrust the entire world into darkness for a month. The entire country is a plain of smooth, pure glass. a Full two thrids of the american military was lost in that blast, as well as the entire population of said country.
Osama struck again on September 11, 2007, He and several of his own men organized a planned suicide strike against the newly constructed freedom towers, but was put down by a well coordinated offensive by the NYPD F.E.A.R squas, Freedom Elite Assault and Recon, a newly formed Branch of the military desgiend to meet any threat that reared its head againt the free countries of the world.
The UN disbanded in 2006, when Kofi Annan was linked to seedy dealings with Iraqi insurgents and the same evidence was linked to several other reprisentitives - which garnered President Bush to lead the charge for its disbandment. It was replaced by the F.E.A.R organization, a Omni-national military built to eliminate warlords, despots and terrorists, and promote peace and brotherhood amongst man.
The world has seen a era of peace and gerneral prosperity that it hasnt known for milinniea.
You are an average everyday person, your walk of life is your own, your one and only home is A large coastal town Known as Insommouth, a quaint comglomerate of traesman and fisherman coupled with growing industry makes this old little town a growing center of community and brotherhood, even grwoing so popular that it has recently attained its own active squad of F.E.A.R soliders.
But there are queer things occuring in your town, strange murders have been happening, apparently ritualistic in nature, though the weapons used were said to look like some mind of teeth, for an odd reason F.E.A.R seems to be keeping these death very hush hush, though the details are not public, the brutality of the killings is well known.
The rumors of the Walking Dead are a long held joke in Insommouth, but lately the reports have grown startlingly frequent and detailed in nature - but no proof has been found other then the gibbering reports of half mad eye witninesses.
To top things off, local fishermen has claimed that soemthing is shreddign their nets to get at thier catches - some even claimed to have seen a strange creatue on the decks of thier boats during a heavy fog, but none can prove it and most are well known drunks.
And finally there have been a startling rash of suicides amongst children between the ages of 16-18 years of age, all from drmatically different backgrounds, all killing themselves in widely different ways, the only commonality that the police have found is the tiem of death is identical in each child down to the nanosecond - this time has not been released to the public.
It is a strange time in your quiet town, And you ever feel like someone.... or something is watching you... waiting.

Game Synopsis.
Twilight is a Pulp-Horror mystery roleplay, its been seeded with the plot for several mysteries for your player characters to solve, all with an occult twist.
I based it heavily and lovingly on the concepts presented by the late H.P. Lovecraft, the renowed writer of such classics as The Call of Cthulhu and the Shadow Over Insommouth.
The atmosphere is built to encourage an aura of distrust ant tension for your fellow players - suspect them, watch them - for all you know they are not who they say they are, and you never know when somone is just goign to crack...
To further this, I will only let you post gerneal statistics here - no histories or anything they could not acertian withing five minutes of speakign with your characters; all full bios shall be PMed to me for review.
I encorage you to put serious thought into your characters, and here I shall outline a lattice for you to operate within.
NO MAGIC. This is a real-world roleplay, magic is a fairly tale here.... or is it? either way you dotn have it... yet, so dont base a character off of it.
NO ELVES, ANGELS OR DEMONS. No one here is goign to be anythign but human unless I ask them to play a non human PC for plot advancement... now this doesnt mena you cannot play a delusional perosn who thinks they are Legolas... you just wont get anythign special for it other then kudos on playing it well.
NO ROYALYTY. Common. Everyday. People. This is supposed to be beliveable, so choose a job you can get with college.
The basic job classes I will work with is thus.
Military. White Collar. Blue Collar. Medical. Police Force. Criminal. Techie. Student. Media. Investigator. Political.
I will add to this list as required.
Other character rules are just plain common sense.
Please write me the standard RP bio and PM me with it, I deeply encourage you to write a semi-deatailed history, or at least some bullets, so I can build personal plot for each individual character.
Wait - what was that?
Indeed - each player will be part of three different plots, the Main, whichever case they are investigating, and thier own personal story, so the better your history, the better your RP experience.
Characters whishing to play FEAR soliders should PM me first so I can relay speical rules and such for them, as well as certian plot related items.
This game will utilize a 'Sanity Meter' in the vein of the late Call of Cthlulhu Pen and Paper RPG, but will be detailed in the next post.
At the beginning of each chapter, I'll write up a newspaper 'Headline' of recent events, much like the first post, within will be clues to each mystery and its up to YOU to find them. Feel free to refer to it as needed, and also copy-save it for reference.
The game will be played in Day cycles, at the end of the day, if you are still alive, you'll be rewarded with a cetian number of sanity points and possably a dream to aid you along dependant on your preformance during the day.

The Short trip to Insanity. Santiy System overview.
Every player character will start with a Sanity Rating, this is a base Value of 100 with conditional positives or negitives which will be explained later.
How this will work is when you see somethign freaky, wrong, shockign or plain ******** up, you lose sanity points, this is up to the PC to enact how this affects thier character, but the gerneal system is as such.
As sanity points are lost, I will make an OOC post with the PC name and how many have been deducted, I will keep a running tally of each persons meter in this post, as you lose sanity, reality starts to get hazy, how this is percived by your character is up to YOU to play, and you will play it or be ejected, this is the onyl real form of Godmoding in this RP, everyone is affected by sanity loss - no one is immune.
If I am not present during a loss, either a dedicated GM of the thread will note the loss, or I will read over it when I return, and make a subsuquent post noting the accumilated losses.
At the point in which sanity reaches zero - the character is hopelessly mad, there is no chance of them beign playable and become an NPC under my control, this is good initive NOT to go crazy.
Regainign sanity is difficult, but can be done in sevreal ways.
Medications can grant both perminant and temporary sanity poitns, as can hard liquor and drugs, though thier side affects may be worse, a perscibeed anti-psychotic can in a weeks time restore up to 15 lost sanity points, a night of hard drinking can grant 10 temorary sanity. Killing whatever scared the hell out of you also boots your sanity - by asserting your dominance and the ideal that it is but an animal and can be killed resores and can even perminatnyl inscrease your maximum sanity points, I'll give an example.
Sleep will restore a small amoutn of sanity every day, ranging from 1-5 points, this does not mean little naps, nor chemical induced comas, so dont try to cheat.
Seeing Somethign that by no rights shoudl exist will cost you a moderate amount of sanity depending on what creature graces your perceptions - after all, people can only handle a certian degree of weirdness - and seeing a man who's painted his entire body with human blood would ******** anyone up.
The Cthulhu Mythos also cost sanity, but will be covered in the final opening post.
Certian professions get a buffer or negitive to thier starting sanity, due to enviromental conditions, a USMC shock troop would get a bonus due to his training, whilst a ER trama surgeon would get a negitive due to the seriously bad s**t she deals with from day to day life.

Military: +10 Medical: -5 White Collar: +2 Blue Collar: +3 Media: +8 Criminal: -10 Invesitigator: +5 Politcal: -15 (you gotta be crazy to be in politics...)

Staring into the Abyss. The Cthlulhu Mythos.
Some texts have been rumored to tell of dark dealings between man and devil, some of these are easy to find, moderate commercial versions are avalable in book stores, and some well known texts feture aspects of the Mythos - such as Aton Levay's Satanic Bible.
Within these texts are often the ravings of madmen - but who can tell anymore? Some say that there is power in such madness.
Player character's who discover a Mythos text will be notifed via PM, they are often written in forign languages, and must be reaserched to be understood, to use a Mythos book, you must declare through roleplay that you are readign it, either in spare time or lulls in plot, upon completion, which takes about 1-3 weeks on average, certian things will happen - of which you'll find out on your own.
The beifits are yours to weigh the worth of.
The darkness will take its toll though, in ways you cannot possably imagine - but its to everyman to ask; is there a price you wont pay for survival?

From here on out - post the concept of a normal day to day routine to start yourself off. I will play a few NPCs and one Main character who will be introduced as needed, they way we work is akin to D&D Gm rules - the last word in this RP is MINE and MINE alone.
I will post the settings of the scenes to you as required, thus I'll relfect my online status in the thread title. You respond to said scenes as you will and as your characters would. You may interact with eachtoher as normal, and with my NPCs as you will.
DISCLAIMER.
The chances of your character dying in a bloody, violent and grotesqe manner in this RP are signifigant. If you are going to whine and moan about dying when there is NO chance that you could survive, you best quit now.
I wont arbitrarilly kill off characters, and I will allow people to create new ones after their originals die.
There will be very disturbing imagery in this thread. I really mean that, so if gore and the Occult turn your stomach, please go elsewhere, in this vein, I would HIGHLY reccomend that any players under the age of 15 seriously consider going elsewhere, as this will get real sick, real fast.
