Kazuo strode slowly into the arena, his sensor clusers already picking up his opponent through the wall. He continued to monitor the man, he knew nothing about him, his suit ran yet another self diagnostic and Kazuo monitored it's progress via his neural's he had already ran one in the preparation room but he thought it prudent to run another just before combat. As soon as it had completed, informing him all systems were within operational limits, most running at above 98% efficiency, he reached up and unclipped his rifle from it's place on his side. He ran a diagnostic of the weapon, it all checked out fine aswell. Without a word he raised the weapon, programming 3, HE shells and aiming them directly at his opponents head, a targetting program going into primary mode. The three shots fired in less than a second, despite the awesome power of the weapon it didn't even shudder in Kazuo's hand as the burst fired.

Kazuo's sensor clusters in his suit immediately picked up the build up in energy as his opponent raised his own arm. Then he was diving aside, the ice beam passing him by a good half a foot, he moved into a roll, a program moving into primary to control his movement while he concentrated on his weapon. The program took over, moving his body back to his feet and began to sprint around the arena clockwise, keeping a good distance from his opponent. His sensors were already scanning the armour surrounding his opponent, the author ignored the fact that the ice wouldn't stop the shells exploding and Kazuo armed a larger burst of the HE rounds. Once more he raised the weapon, concentrating on aiming while the program moved his body for him. He raised the rifle, firing a two second long burst, releasing 18 of the HE shells, this time they were programmed to explode before, on and after contact. 6 of them would explode just before the reached the armour with a force that could easily shred steel. 6 would detonate as they hit, with or without the freezing ability, with the same force, the other 6 were programmed to lodge themselves in the armour and explode, similar to the effect weathering has on rocks when water gets between the gaps and expands, pushing it apart. That was the theory anyway.

In response Kazuo simply lowered the weapon, ceasing his current firing, his suit began to quickly calculate his opponents speed and agility from the data collected so far. He stopped his movement for a moment, switching his thermo dump panels on and ordering them to expend heat on a much greater level, the temperature around him was beginning to increase on a rapid scale. Meanwhile Kazuo ran a quick check of the suits systems, taking merely a few microseconds, the results showed it was working nominally, despite the cold. Kazuo ordered his neurals to begin formulating likely escape trajectories of his opponent from the data already collected. The whole process had taken no more than a second from when he had lowered his weapon, the quantum computing system working in both the neural implants and the suit allowing for much greater processing power than a hundred binary computers. Once more he raised his rifle, loading another dose of HE rounds, a counter in the corner read he still had nearly a hundred of them remaining.

The suit and neural's targetting systems took over his movement, plotting a firing arc that would give the predicted best results from the information gained. Kazuo squeezed the trigger and the neural's did the rest, controlling his arm her fired ina large burst, saturating a 5 metre radius area, centred on Tommy, with High Explosive fire, the resulting fireball of explosions was enough to melt all of the remaining ice in the arena and reach a temperature of nearly 1000 degrees celcius.

Kazuo ignored the ice spikes, each one of them melting before they even got close, the extreme venting of the suits thermo-dump panels rising the temperature greatly, his suit read it off at nearly 100 degrees in Kazuo's immediate vicinity. Kazuo gripped the rifle with both hands as he prepared another load of HE rounds, loading them with his neurals. His opponents speed had been greater than his neurals had calculated. Calculating likely trajectories based on previous actions a new fire patterns was immediately set out. Once more the weapon fired, kicking back into Kazuo's arms slightly, his suit compensating for the amazing recoil, and his neural's accurately plotting the firing line of the shots into the perfect pattern. Everything within a twenty metre radius of Tommy would be saturated in explosions from the minature shells, tearing up the arena floor and melting all of the ice, the heat in the arena had built up at this point to nearly 500 degrees, this was because of the enormous thermal energy given out from the HE shells and Kazuo's thermo dump panels. This meant any ice created would almost instantly melt.
