Though her duplex had long been scrubbed clean by the nervous frogman and didn't really need to be 'aired' out the madam still thought it was best to give the place a rest. That and she really needed something to quell her aching nerves. None of her former vices would work here. Gone was the sex, the power, the money, and even the former drug use too was out of the loop. Briefly she thought about the headaches and dulling pain she had had when first arriving. She knew WHY she had them, but she didn't expect them to be gone so quickly. Perhaps it was the effects of the transformation to her body, maybe it was 'cleansing' out her system. Or maybe like the trooper she was, she was fighting through it along with all the other crap she had to deal with here.
She kept walking. The fresh air was always nice on the nerves though didn't stop her thoughts. No unfortunetly those kept coming in waves. What DID stop her mind however was the lone wheelchair right next to the beautiful lake she'd chanced by. Maryke never paid attention to where she was going on walks such as these. She just kept walking. Always winding up in a different place then where she thought she'd be. Bad Habit.
"What...?" she mumbled all onto herself as she walked closer, wondering who would be stupid to leave a chair laying around. Further then that, where the hell was the owner?

After a few moments, there was the sound of splashing nearby, and a sudden raspy, water-logged voice in a thick accent like gargling gravel, "Get th'hell away from tha'!" With another splash, though, who ever had spoken was out of view. The only tell tale sign of where the voice had come from were ripples across the water.

Maryke jumped at the voice, not exactly expecting someone to yell at her from nowhere. She blinked and....there was nothing. The hell? She frowned and looked around, first from the chair then to the lake then to the trees, then back again. No, there wasn't anyone here. Strange. So instead of heeding the warning, someone had given her the madam did nothing more then want to investigate further.
This time she walked all the way up to the wheelchair and nudged it with the tip of her sandal, her ruffed ears now perked and curiousity etched all about her features.

"I said sod off!" The voice snapped up again, and there was a bit of coughing as it's owner accidentally swallowed a bit of water. Once breaths were caught, the speaker was under the water again, but there was the breifest glimpses of white hair under it's surface swimming closer to the bank not too far away.

This time Maryke caught which direction the voice had distinctly come from, and her ruffed ears definately caught the watery sounds. She looked back at the lake once more and then leaned over it, carefull not to get too close. She was still curious so let the threats slip by, figuring if all else failed she could probably run in these sandals so she wasn't worried. Not yet anyway.
Looking at the top of a white head as it moved beneath the murk she merely said, "Why?" amusment in her tone, and maybe a hint of pestering.

Under the water, something settled in the rocks by her bank, the color of the stones, sand and earth below it, save for the thin, fluttering of the pigmentless hair. Finally, a pair of purple eyes narrowed up at her, as though waiting for her to continue on her way.

At the display Maryke smirked, only a little taken aback by the purple eyes and some of his face, all of which shimmered and distorted underneath the water, almost as if it was a ghostly reflection looking back at her. But, she had a feeling she knew who this was. Somewhere in the back of her mind this person lived in infamy around the island.
"I've heard a lot about you," she said, moving her body so that she could look over further, her back arched and her chest and upper body hanging over the side of the lake as she peered into it. Yes, she blatantly ignored the fact that he obviously wanted her to leave. "Turning into an octopus...or something like that..."

He couldn't hear her, but did surface, water pouring off of his head as he pushed himself upright enough to frown back at her, "Wha' d'ye bloody want an' why won' ye bugger orf?"

The fur on her chest bristled as did her ruffed ears. She kept the smirk however, it was cool and calculating, with the creases of her eyes only making the fire in her hazel dance more.
She shrugged and flopped onto her butt by the edge of the lake, her legs pulled up tightly as she sat in typical 'sea gazer's position'. "I don't want anything...not from you anyway. M'just trying to relax," she replied, leaning back slightly and looking over at him. "Feel free to ignore me if you must."

He gave a gurgling noise as he inhailed wetly, sliding and crawling to the shallower water towards her, his color slowly splotching from the browns and greys of the lake bottom to his usual blue-grey tint that seemed to be his constant. "I aint seen ye around b'fer. Wha' th'hell are y'supposed t'be, then? A mongoose?"

"You haven't seen me because you've been here...." she said, nodding her head towards the lake. "Haven't been here that long anyway." At his question a light shrug graced her shoulders as she tossed her hair back some. She suddenly wished she had brought her cigerrettes with her, but lately she didn't feel the need to smoke. Perhaps because of the transformation? Again she had no idea and instead focused on the question at hand.
"No ******** idea...Haven't asked, don't care to know," she said simply.

He reached the drier banks, crawling along the shallows on his stomach and she could see the crippled monstrocity he was becoming. "Best find out sooner'n wake up lookin' li' me," He chuckled darkly, dragging himself towards his chair to inspect it for any damages.

Maryke surprised even herself when she watched him without a grimace present in her face. Maybe her she was getting a strong stomach with all she had been through. She was about to offer assitence, but figure he'd be the type to turn it down anyway, so instead she watched.
"Oh I don't know," she said, grinning a bit. "I'd much rather be surprised, 'sides...how bad could I be I mean...." she looked down at her silky white fur and tagged at it a bit, frowning and glaring as she did. "How bad could this be...?"

Finally, he managed to pull himself up into the chair, resituating his many limbs to nestle down in their coils on the seat, "Well, congradulations, yer stayin' a mammal. Want a cigar? Snap, I fergot! Feckin' zapped fer doin' anythin' fun." He gave a slightly manic snicker, inhuman eyes sliding up and down her figure.

Maryke said where she was sitting, though had turning to face him slightly. She ignored the sarcasm for the first part but couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in question. "Don't tell me this place has banned smoking?" She caught his strange purple eyes looking her up and down, but she was used to look in humans and figured it worked the same way with creatures, so she let it pass.
