Jikabuita vs. Trebuchet

FIGHT!
PostPosted: Wed Sep 06, 2006 6:46 pm

From the stands a hulking figure rose to the challenge, a gigantic axe on his back crossed with a collapsable machine of sorts constructed of an odd wood. The most notable thing was the tree he was dragging with him, though the tree likely wasn't as spectacular as the fact he was 21ft tall weighing 6 tons alone. His light green skin mixed with verdant hair that rimmed his head and flowed down his back, looking as if it had been recently washed save for the fact that it was incredibly dirty beforehand and had not been thouroughly cleaned. Lightning seemed to dance about his body as he glanced down to the arena.

As he lept from the stands he thrust people out of the way, smashing the stands to bits as his tree hit them. A fine layer of short curly hair in patches across his body rippled in the air that rushed past him before he finally landed with a tremendous crash, a green aura beginning to flood the tree as he stood, his right hand dug into the core of the tree itself. He stood closest to the eastern compass point when the arena was viewed from above.

The sand and stone in the very center of the arena ignites, burning in an impossible spontaneous flame, which grows to about man-height before suddenly going out...revealing a young crimson-haired girl, maybe eight years old, standing in its place.

A verdant surge passed through the tree as the giant leapt forth, darting at the child no more than 150ft away. The little ones were always the scariest, and thus needed to be pwned. Fast. With leaps and bounds he crossed the distance in mere moments, the great tree falling to smash the girl with a spray of acid that would cover a 30ft radius, the tree taking up around 5 ft in diameter itself, and eat away at the stone to around 5ft in only a few moments. Furthermore, the wild look about him truly made it seem like he was one of those giants that ate children, the skies responding to this as clouds began to take shape, pulling from nothingness as magical forces conspired to control the weather, an innate ability of storm giants.

As the giant charges, Jikabuita's body suddenly ignites in an extremely hot flame, the air around her catching fire as well to form a high-heat shell of flame around her, extending two feet from her body in all directions. The acid doesn't penetrate the flame but rather boils away as she organizes the magic powering it to shape it into a true barrier just before the tree hits it. The result, then, would be that the tree does not penetrate the barrier, but would most likely catch fire and likely have a dimple burned into it where it hit the barrier.

The acid does indeed burn away, but in doing so a cloud is left hanging around the flame, just as acidic as if it had been fluid. Due to the nature of the acid it reaches a gaseous state and stays as such, not moving away from the barrier, merely holding position. The clouds continued to gather, rain beginning to fall as the winds picked up and the smell of ozone tainted the air, drowning out the rain. The tree seemed be have taken little damage, having been infused so many times by various elemental energies, heat and flame included. The tree rose again, a faint grey shimmer running along it, and slammed back down, a sonic blast issuing forth from the tree on impact with the barrier, ground, whaver. Any not accustomed to such loud sounds would surely be deafened, not to mention the concussive force stemming from the blast.

The acid, having evaporated by the heat, would likely rise away from Jikabuita. As the tree rises, there's an audible click, and the visible outer shell of the barrier of red flames begins to turn purple. Although Jikabuita is brought to her knees beneath the barrier by the shock of the second blow, she's guessed that there's some kind of flame-resistance enchantment on the tree (such things aren't an uncommon problem for flame-users, after all) and adjusted her defense accordingly; the purple flames would feed themselves on the enchantments and magical energies within the tree, burning the magic as easily as normal flame would burn normal wood. Though the flame would cause rather minimal damage to the tree itself, it would spread quickly over the tree and reduce it to normal wood in short order. Additionally, the flame would be exceedingly difficult for others to control by typical flame manipulation, and (as it is not a chemical flame) is unaffected by the rain.

As stated, the acid was a form of elemental energy, and while the fluid component was turned to gas, it remained energy, bounded together by this link and even more deadly in a gaseous form. The flame would lick at the tree as it slammed down again with another sonic blast, but would deal only face damage, bark peeling away under the effect of the flame. It was no mere enchantment that produced the immunity, it was merely the fact that the tree had been fundamentally changed by having been enchanted so many times. Furthermore, the rains began to pound with increasing intensity as winds began to swirl about the two, setting them at the eye of a growing storm. A beastial glare ran through Trebuchet's eyes as a throaty growl was echoed by thunder pulsing through the air in time with strikes of lightning that all seemed to fall around them, but did not strike either of them.

The flame shell changes color again, this time to green, as the club comes down again. It now puts up much firmer resistance to the club, and blocks the acid's passage more strongly as well. The red flames underneath the green outer layer grow denser and more powerful, and suddenly about seven feet in front of Jikabuita erupts a pillar of flame with enough force to actually push the club upward just a tiny bit, and it's damned hot too. Seven feet past that flame pillar erupts another, stronger one two seconds later, while the first one is still burning at full power. In fact, both pillars are still going strong as the ground warms directly underneath the giant.

With a terrible roar lightning fell around them both, consuming Trebuchet in a shower of light. The ground around him would begin too split and break asunder, the crash of thunder pulsing out from the occurance creating a gust of wind in its passing pushing with enough force to tear a house from its foundations in the single blast. When the light faded he wound be on the move, streams of lightning continuing to fall from the skies to strike his now glowing form. The tree was nowhere to be seen, cast aside in his rush forward, arm digging into the ground, apparently vaporizing some of the rock as he threw a punch to not only see if the barrier extended underground, but to upset the earth below Jikabuita, rock growing around his own fist of more durable composition, known to the dwarves as Dwarven Blackrock, a stone with qualities of mithral and beyond.

The barrier suddenly explodes in a burst of flame, a flaming figure hurtling out of it away from Trebuchet as a red-hot blade hurtles from the figure's arm toward Trebuchet.

Flames lick at the giant's flesh but the armor about him seems to be repelling basic assaults. The blade, while not a basic assault, is met with a twofold disruption of the throw. Lightning from all around continues to slam into Trebuchet's form, but a single stroke falls to slap the blade away whilst the winds seem to carry it away with a particularly powerful gust. At best it will likely embed in the arena wall, a spectator, or announcement screen, else it will likely simply be gone, carried away. Te rock gathered about Tebuchet's fist seems to pull into a solid ball in his palm, glowing with energy as elemental influence floods it, the armor giving it a natural lightning element while his own influence passes along a sonic energy component. As the large form begins to dart forward he pulls back and whips the ball towards Jikabuita with a single stream passing back to his form. It gave the image of a giant paddle-ball.

As the flaming figure runs away from Trebuchet, the ground where the barrier had been continues to burn in a great barely-smoking flame, and the blade spirals away and embeds itself in the arena wall. The flaming figure dives aside as the ball nears it, but the blast dissipates the flame, revealing...nothing?

A particularly strong surge of lightning falls like a pulse, milling about Trebuchet's body for a few moments before exploding out in a nova of electrical power. This would give any invisible targets an aura of lightning that looked nearly the same as Trebuchet's armor and make them very noticable to both anyone with such senses and the clouds above. If she was caught in the pulse that passed from his body she would, quite simply, become a lightning rod equal to, if not greater than, Trebuchet himself.

The burning ground where the barrier might begin to faintly glow around the edges, Jikabuita hidden within the flames. If Trebuchet gives any visible sign of noticing, the flames will begin to shrink and focus (at the price of making the glow more visible).
