White fur shimmering from the light cast by the sun rippled as the lioness Malika'eusi made her way around the oasis again. She often found herself alone atleast at first. Truth be told she was slightly depressed at the fact since so far she had only come in contact with the king and the princess from her pride the others were outsides she did not know.
A sigh escaped her lips before the female forced herself to be happy and to smile.

And so Lefika's many wanderings brought her to the oasis. She thought it a curious place. So sheltered. So isolated...
She probably wouldn't be able to stand it for very long.
It wasn't that she thought the place particularly terrible or unlivable. It was beautiful indeed, and she was sure it had many merits. However, so long as she stayed there she wouldn't be able to shake the distinct feeling that she was trapped, or caged. It made her extremely uncomfortable. For now, however, it was interesting to explore at the very least.
Her ears perked up at the sound of a sigh. Slightly curious, she pushed her way through some bushes to seek out the source of the noise. Breaking through she spied a lioness donning the most forced of smiles she had ever seen. It made her jaws hurt just looking at her. Lefika shook her head and clucked her tongue, then piped up and declared, "You know, hon, you don't need to keep up any appearances if nobody's around to see them."

Startled Malika tripped over one of the rocks in her path causing her to fall, well, flat on her face. Embarrassed she was on her feet again shaking out a bit of the dirt that had clung to her fur when she fell. "I....I" The white lioness wasn't able to put what she wanted to say into words.
"I...uh.....I...d-d-don't know what y-y-your talking about." Malika managed to stammer out

Startled in turn by Malika's, Lefika staggered back a bit. However, Lefika's start was brief and quickly passed. She regarded the younger lioness now with a quirked brow and cautious reserve. She'd never been faced with such a tense social situation before. Then again, up until recently Lefika hadn't been terribly social. She still wasn't, not quite, but she knew enough to be polite and regard others' existance, at least.
Lefika held up her paws, half in defense, half to show that she meant no harm. "Woah now," Lefika said. "Calm down, hon. Calm down. You can relax around me, you don't need to hide anything from me." She smiled in what she hoped was a reassuring way. "I'm not the judging type," she concluded. She wondered what it was that made this lioness act so oddly and on-edge.

Malika relaxed slight realizing that it wasn't someone that she knew from before. Taking a few deep breath she forced herself to calm down without making it visable. "I apologize, for a second there I thought you were someone else, you....just scared me so my old habits got the best of me."
She offered a kind smile to the other when she finished speaking. "Oh let me introduce myself, I am Malika'Eusi, but please call me whatever you'd like."

When Lefika saw Malika releax, she too relaxed in turn. Lefika didn't like the feeling of tension... not that it made her feel nervous, she was fairly confident of her standing in the situation. It was simply that she felt nervous for this other lioness. Lefika waved a paw dismissively at Malika's appology. "No appologies necessary, hon," Lefika assured her. She thought for a moment of perhaps asking what past experiences had deemed it necessary for Malika to be so tense and on-guard, but ultimately decided against it. It wasn't for her to know.
At the greeting, Lefika nodded her head low in a sort of informal bow. "It is nice to meet you, Malika'Eusi," Lefika said. "I am called Lefika." She glanced around at the oasis surroundings that she thought of somewhat as a prison, then cleared her thoat and inquired, quietly, "Tell me, do you live here?" She couldn't fathom wanting to live here, though deep down she knew it was just because she was so set in her ways of wanderlust.

"But..." Malika then decided to let it drop if the other said no apologies needed, then she wouldn't apologize again. There wasn't any real reason for her to be so tense and on-guard, it was just that she didn't want to make others worried about her so she always had a happy demor.
"It is an honor and pleasure to meet you Miss Lefika." Malika then bowed her head in proper greeting, at least proper greeting for the younger lioness to greet others with. "I do live here and I must say that I am quite content with living her, it's taken me a while but I finally have a place to call home." The white lioness then paused and said "Do you live anywhere or do you travel alot?"

Lefika was happy to see Malika drop her objection. The older lioness wasn't up to arguing something as simple as manners. Especially not in the fantastic mood she'd been in as of late.
She smirked a little at Malika's bow and pleasantries. This one was of the well bred sort. Lefika shook her head a little. "No need for the honorifics either," she declared. "Just 'Lefika' will do nicely. But thank you." She glanced around a little as she explained how pleased she was with her living arrangements. Lefika couldn't see it. She still couldn't shake the feeling of being caged. "Suit yourself."
Malika's question made Lefika smile a little. The assumptions were always so cute, wherever she went. People always assumed that you had to pick one. "Of course I live somewhere," Lefika told her new companion. "I live everywhere. Wherever I set my feet is home to me." She shrugged indifferently. It was just the way she lived her life, just a fact. She couldn't see it any other way.

"That sounds wonderful, m--," Malika caught herself right there "Lefika" She admired the other lion for being able to travel by herself and to call every where her home. "Does it get lonely when you are alone?"
Malika hoped she wasn't being too pushy it was just something she wanted to know, partially because she felt that if she was like Lefika that she would be extremely lonely traveling by herself. "I know that you must meet people along the way, but they never stay long, or you never stay long is that not the case?"

Lefika smirked a little. Malika's words made the older lioness look back and reflect on her past. There had been a time, for a while, when Malika's words had been true. Lefika had traveled alone, and she was, though she would deny it on every level but her subconscious, lonely. What she thought she needed was solitude and wide open spaces to travel. She'd thought companionship and freedom were mutually exclusive, but she'd been wrong. All it took was one eye-opening trip through the depths of the jungle to show her that. Her handling of young Majani had taught her to be sensitive to the feelings of others. Her walk and talk with Mteuli had shown her the importance of having others in your life. Then, of course, there was Koda.
Her Koda.
It actually took a few minutes for Lefika to realize that she'd been reflectively staring off into space, losing track of the rest of the world. She shook her head a little to clear it and bring herself back down to earth. Locking eyes with Malika, Lefika smiled. "As a matter of fact," she announced, "I have recently aquired a traveling companion. Loneliness is no longer a part of my vocabulary."

"I am most happy for you," Malika stated sincerly, meaning every word of it. She had no reason not to be after all, so she meant every word she told the other. "I must ask, if I may that is, even when you are with someone are there times when you feel an emptiness?"
There was no real reason for her to ask, well there was one and it was a feeling she had just begun to have and she couldn't explain why. "It's like a hallow feeling, a feeling you can't explain....."

Lefika was taken aback by the question, though it didn't show in her face. She was an expert at masking things, keeping an appearance of steely steadiness on the surface. Emptiness? No, she couldn't say she had recently felt such a thing. In fact, she was pretty sure she had never felt more fulfilled in her life. She shook her head gently. "No, hon, I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean," Lefika said appologetically. "Actually, I feel quite fine."
Her eyes squinted a bit in concentration, and it looked for a moment like she were trying to see through her companion. Lefika knew there was more to this line of conversation than that which was on the surface. Feeling the pangs of newfound compassion, Lefika inquired, "Are you quite alright, hon?"

"Ah I see, I'm sorry to have bothered you with that question, M-," She caught herself right there and finished with "Lefika." Malika'eusi had no problem with the others answer it just was a strange feeling that she got, she couldn't explain it so she decided to drop subject when Lefika asked her a question.
"Oh? I'm fine, there is nothing to worry about, I apologize if I have made you worried in anyway!" The adol's reply was kind of rushed and she looked sort of flushed but other than that there was nothing wrong with her in any way. The reason she looked flushed was because of the question and Malika's worrying that the other was worried.

Lefika shook her head slowly while keeping her eyes fixed on Malika the whole time. "No bother at all," Lefika assured her quietly. "I'm just sorry I couldn't help you." She wasn't so sure about this girl, she seemed always so nervous and on guard. Those kind of people made Lefika uncomfortable because they were the kind who had secrets, and Lefika hated secrets.
The rushed way in which Malika made her reassurances just made it worse. Lefika quirked a brow a bit, staring at Malika. Tact was not one of Lefika's strong points, neither was knowing when to quit. "Appology accepted," Lefika began cautiously, "...but you certainly don't seem fine to me." Studying the younger female, Lefika shuffled closer. "Come on then, what's wrong?" She pondered a bit, wetting her lips with her tongue, then added in a whisper, "Are you in some kind of danger?" Her shoulders raised. She'd just barely met the girl and wasn't even sure if she liked her or not, but she was ready to defend Malika if Malika were in danger.

"No no! There is no reason for you to be sorry, no reason at all so please do not be sorry because of me." Malika said almost imediately after Lefika apologized. The pale adol had no secrets none that she could think of so she had know idea what the other was feeling.
"D-danger?" Malika repeated stuttering slightly due to old habbits. "No no no danger, I mean I am not in any danger, at least none that I know of." Malika had calmed down slightly to the point that she was not stuttering anymore.
"I don't think anything is wrong with me...." Was the last thing she said for the time being
