Gongjin is a Porcelain, a delicate human-like race whose primary communication is empathic projections of thought and feeling.

Originally, Porcelain were much smaller and physically unable to speak, but when Boyan discovered and regained the Celestial Chaos many Porcelain were restored to something similar to their ancient counterparts. Gongjin was one of these. In the years since then, he (and many other Restored Porcelain) has undergone several more subtle changes that have made him biologically equivilant to an ancient Porcelain.

Despite being capable of speech, Gongjin continues to prefer mindspeak over it. Luckily, he lives in a very empathic/mindspeak receptive household.

Old bio: Gongjin is a Porcelain, a diminuitve human-like race originally from a world called Dragonlamp. They primarily communicate in empathic babblings of feelings and thoughts and are much smaller and delicate than humans. Or at least they did and were until a few years ago.

Boyan's regaining of the Celestial Chaos triggered the Restoration of the Porcelain, reverting those who had been smuggled to Gaia and grown to a child stage. They were now capable of speech and magic use and to grow to a more normal human height, as they used to be long long ago.

Gongjin is a quiet, bookish Porcelain. He's very calm, cool, and collected, serious and rational (like his namesake) and will read anything he can get his hands on. He likes keeping things tidy and more often than not he tends to take care of Aryn more than she takes care of him, which he really doesn't mind despite how grumbly he can get. Helping people makes him feel all fuzzy inside. His favorite people include Boyan, Melody, Silver, Aryn, and Nusumu. He misses Nusumu. A LOT.

In his past life, Gongjin was one of two powerful sorcerors (I want to say the Pearl Sorceror, but I'm not sure anymore) under the tutilige of an oracle (Boyan). Concerned mostly with his own power, he was the type who would do what was right just to spite his rival and fellow student (Silver). Gongjin never made any trips to Dragonlamp and mostly likely never will. His Chaos is out of his reach, which is probably a good thing since it is of a malicious sort.

Aryn is human and rather normal for one living on Gaia. She'd like to be a little bit MORE normal, given how hectic the "real world" can be. As a magic user/mage, that's a little more difficult.

She has a great deal of potential, but not much in the way of skill or control and, honestly, she has no real desire to fix that. Given that she lives in a time where a mage's skills aren't exactly in super high demand (though the Animated might change that), she feels she's justified. If great power means great responsibility, then she could do with a little less responsibility piled on to two jobs, a household, a wedding to eventually plan, and a porfolio to eventually put together.

While she wouldn't mind developing her magic skills a bit once everything FINALLY settles down (someday), she could do without fellow mage Theo cheerfully harassing her about it. Constantly.

[Personality]

Old Bio: Aryn is a clumsy spaz of a human. Really, she's cheerful and shy and occasionally enthusiatic and always giggly, but that's if you can get her TO TALK in the first place/pry her away from a book or sketchbook. She's a decent cook and a busy art student and loves fantasy in any way shape or form.

She's also an inept magic user with an UNGODLY amount of power "at her fingertips." Quotations important considering she can barely call any of it up at will. She can do simple things but finding the time to learn more is almost beyond her at this point, between housework, her job at the beta shop, attempting to get a freelance career going, and trying to not be a social misfit. The last thing she needs at the moment is "homework," especially when doing things the normal way works just fine. The talent is self-preserving at least, which has gotten her out of numerous scrapes.

She has a younger brother who is her opposite in the magic department, with more skill than talent and who shares her philosophy that normality > magic 90% of the time. She considers Gongjin a sibling, mostly because he and her brother share many quirks, like disliking her almost-fiance strictly on principle.
