Felipe Giaffone was in an Indianapolis Shopping Mall, shopping at Babies R Us, when his cell phone rang at 1:30 pm local time. 4 hours later, he's 33rd on the grid thanks to a fast AJ Foyt car at PRAYING that Arie Jr. doesn't make the field! The final bonzai run is on NOW!!!! Bump Day ends with the last qualifying run at the 89th running of the Indy 500!

Disappointment hits the Luyendyk family, as Arie Jr. only becomes the 1st alternate for the field of the Indy 500. His 2nd attempt fell short of making the field after lap 2, and Jr. dropped off the pace in sadness. Many racing media are describing this day as the Revenge of the Foyt... in 1997, AJ Foyt's driver Billy Boat was given the win of the IRL race in Texas after a scoring error. Arie Luyendyk really won, and both drivers had a confrontation in victory lane. AJ Foyt got involved, and the home-boy Texan car builder and former Indy 500 champion, went after Arie Sr. with fists flying. Before bump day began, Arie Luyendyk Jr. was 33rd and barely in the field, pushing his car to the limit. After bump day ended, it turns out it's not to be... AJ stole another one from the Luyendyks.
The good news... Felipe Giaffone isn't as washed up as he thought he was! His first time in the race car turns to be the fastest bonzai run we've seen in years, as Felipe makes the field for the 89th Indy 500!
