I couldn't tell you 'bout the guy part but I will say your mom is your mom. Try to reason with her (or go behind her back (which I highly wouldn;t suggest)) Or have her read it to truly decide if it's bad or not.

Haha. I mean...sorry. xD That totally sucks. You've read it though...right...? So reading it again couldn't hurt. Besides they are "mythical creatures," after all. I think.
No, there are a few guys in here.
What's so bad about vampires?

I would kinda know, one of my best guy friends wanted to read it, but his mother wouldn't let him. Reason with her, if you haven't read it yet. If you have, and want to re-read it, go to the library, but don't check it out. Just keep going back, and put the book on hold so you can keep reading it.

Well, she is your mom, so it is her decision. BUT, I don't think it's right, personally. I don't believe it is right to take magnificent books away. They deserve to be read and shared. That's why I get so miffed when they ban books from schools. Grr.
If I were you, I would read it behind her back. It is too great of a book to go unread. That's a freaking crime, right there.

Ask your mom to read it. I've read twilight about 70 times and my parents want to cuz I say it's good, not cuz they don't trust me. Rave about how good it is and how well it's written, and say she should read it. Or go to the library?
I've only seen one other guy besides you on here.

My mom hates anything that has to do with Halloween. Ghosts, witches, vampires, demons, if I think its cool she doesn't like it. Thankfully, she lets me make my own opinions about things as long as I know none of it is real. (-deepsigh- Unfortunately) You should see why your mom doesn't like vampires or whatever. 'Cause if she's anything like mine, if she understands that you know its fiction and not real I think she'll let you have your book back...
And I wouldn't be the one to tell you. xx';; I just came back to the guild today, 'cause I completely forgot that I had even joined. xD

That is complete bullshit, in my opinion. Stephenie is a Mormon, so it's not like it's against religion or something. And these are /good/ vampires. It's not like they're killing people left and right in the name of Satan or something.
Maybe you could convince her to read it? =/

I read it behind my mothers back, shoving it under blankets and putting it on the side of my room that no one could get to. Then she saw it, and didnt care. xD But she isnt too fond of the idea of bloodsucking things, so she wasnt happy, but oh well.
Anyway. It isnt, in essence, a vampire novel. Of course, there are vampires, that fact isnt escapeable. However, it is also a romance, which is a large part of what I find appealing. But thats just me.
Try talking to her, because it isnt a horror novel, which isnt obvious at first glance of the book.
And I wouldnt know, but I do believe there are plenty of guys around here.
