Pod Rules

About the rank system

Sometimes whales will challenge the leader of the pod, and this often times results in a fight. The loser is hardly ever killed, and usually remains part of the pod, but if it is a family member, it is usually treated as an 'outside' whale rather than the family of the leader.

There are usually:
1-2 leaders
any number of family members
any number of 'outside' whales.

There are NEVER more than 2 Alphas, but the rest of the whales can have any number.

leader ranks can, and often do, get passed down to the oldest calf of the current ranking whale. Breeding rules within a pod are the same as normal, but the calf is automatically born into the pod.

Losing your pod/rank

If you are not active enough, we will notice and send you a PM about it, usually after 2-3 weeks of no-showing. If the person complies and becomes active again, we won't press the issue. However, after 5 weeks of inactivity, the Pod will leave your whale, or if your whale is an leader, they will be IMMIDIATELY demoted to common whale. (If the whale is demoted, you have 1 week to become active again or else your whale will be removed from the pod)

Family members will lose their rank at 3 1/2 weeks, and will be removed from the pod a week later if not active. Again, you WILL be PMed about the issue, we don't want any "I wasn't told about it!" going on, because you were.

If you are going on hiatus or some such thing, tell us! We understand and you will NOT be removed from the Pod except for extremely long amounts of absence after the hiatus is supposed to end, like 2 months. If you don't know how long you will be gone, we will give up to 4 months, but only in very important circumstances.

Making Your Own Pod

If none of the current pods appeal to you, they're too crowded, or you just want to make your own, then this is the place to be! Making a pod is rather more complicated than just joining an existing one, but you usually have much more control.

First off, you will need to have members, at least 5. 1 or 2 of them will be leaders, and there will usually be 3 to 4 family members. Pods do not have to start with any 'outside' whales. The owner(s) of the leader(s) will send in the form to apply for making a pod. EDITED ----> Under certain circumstances, you may own both leaders, but the pod will be closely monitored to be sure you do not abuse the power. If you are found abusing it in ANY way your pod will be IMMEDIATELY disbanded. Normally, if there are two, you may not own both of them! You may have one alpha in one pod and one in another, but only if you are seriously commited, as running a pod is a big responsibility. You also may not own all the pod members. There must be at least 3 owned by someone else.

At this time anyone may apply for a pod at any time through PM, do not post the form, as I will not respond to it. You must get it approved by me before it becomes official. Once pods become more abundant/difficult to manage, I will only take a few orders for new pods at a time.
