Ok, well I was really thinking about something today and also how school is coming up I was getting use to thinking again.

But then this question got stuck in my head "What can you really play?"

So this thread(possibly sticky if a mod makes it one) is for you to post your songs that you know. Like every song you ever knew, and dont post the bands name as that is rubbish and we dont need that, we need to know WHAT YOU REALLY CAN PLAY.

Why is the amount of songs you MEMORIZED indicate your level talent?

Why not the amount of songs you've written or helped write?

well depends on what you wrote, if you wrote a ton of plain and simple(dammit by blink 182 as an example) songs. Well thats talent, but theres more complecating things out there, this is showing others songs that you can play.

I agree with this post. While I have only been playing for 6 months I can free compose walking basslines, and create rhythms and basslines that fit well with anything a guitarist is playing as long as he gives me a chord or scale to bass ((haha, puns)) it off of.

So if you give me a song and a chord/scale I can create my own bassline to it. Which is a lot better then some people I know who have been playing for twice as long as I have and rely on tabs for the "official version." That and people who rely on root notes.

Anyway, moving on to what I have actually learned.

I think I've picked up Electric Wizard's Solarion 13, but that song is easy as pie and anyone can hear it out as long as they have been playing for about three weeks. I have also memorized the bass rhythms to a series of random harder Stoner Doom/Rock songs that I could probably fit into tabs if I wanted to. I've also created my own walking basslines to such intense songs as She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain and Oh, Susanna which use just a G, D7, and C chord.

The Red Herring
