Part 2
Title - My Dark Journey Must Begin Again Time - Night of Day 1 Characters - Sirena, River Summary - Females meet and despite differences decide to team up to beat the so-called evil wolves. The pack was all but dead and so the wily old wolfess had used this as her excuse to leave once more. Age was catching up with her and with that came frailty, her body felt the cold more bitterly than it once had and bones creaked in their joints.
Her muzzle was greying and her eyes were soulless pools that sought only one thing.
Revenge.
Sirena craved it, thirsted for it, lusted it so badly that she would do anything to get it. Yet she had put off her journey for far too long and now that her wounds were healed and the pathetic pack dispersed there was no more waiting.
The moon above looked down at her with it's large waxen eye, a blot against the inky darkness that Sirena loved more than life itself. The moon was a beauty, her Goddess, her guide and with her pale light she would find her way in the dark.
My dark journey must begin again, I cannot falter now. It is now or never! If I do not kill those who have wronged me then I will succumb to old age and be unable to see justice through. Her voice was a harsh, growling whisper as she slipped between a wall of thorns, ignoring their stinging bite. Guide me Goddess, guide me Kafara, help me find those traitors who continue to mock me even now.
As always Sirena had waited to travel until the wind was in her face and through this she had discovered a scent that was familiar, a scent that she would follow.
It was her one star in an endless night and with it she hoped she would find her other targets.
Orphen, Gizmo and Sable - the latter being already dead - would suffer their fate at the strength of her own jaws. She would tear out their throats and spread their blood across the ground.
A leaf crunched under paw as she went, casually reminding her of the coming of autumn. It would be almost two years since the birth of those disgusting creatures, two years they had been allowed to live! Well no more, not any longer.
Sirena was back and she would play her part in this drama.

The pack had dissolved, her love for her mate was dissappearing infront of her and though she wished not to go back to life on her own it seemed like that would happen whether she wanted it to or not.
She had only gone to find Ren, she seemed to have dissappeared and River's respect for the older femme led her out of her lands and on a journey to find her. There wasn't anything overly special about this female, she had spent a lifetime on her own till she met Diego, who had taught her alot.
Now though the female didn't hold herself so high, she followed the faint scent of the only wolf she believed knew what life was. Ren was a curious wolf to know, she knew lots more then she would give, thats what River figured anyway. Maybe it was the curiosity that surrounded Ren that happened to be the reason that River was now out looking for her.

However River would have to be careful in her search, for as one finds with Sirena she is a strange and twisted creature.
Where once she was injured and 'submissive' she was now well and determined. She had never lowered her eyes to anyone, not until she had been injured and forced to join a pack as a matter of survival. She was still a little aggravated that she had broken one of her oaths but now that she was on her own again her instincts had returned.
Move silent.
Move swift.
Move deadly.
She would not welcome anyone getting in her way of her task, however the fact that River was an old aquaintence may help the ex-alpha in a meeting with her. That and the fact that River had not judged Sirena when she had given hint to her darker desires - though she never explicitly said what those were.
In lone wolf lands Sirena was queen. She had mastered surviving by her lonesome through her intelligence and wit, needing no one by her side. Yet where once she may have blindly dashed into a fight she was now far more cautious.
Her old bones would crumble if they were hit too hard.
It was as she entered another patch of thorns that she first caught wind of River, the familiar scent an irritation and blessing to her nostrils. Perhaps it would be good to catch up on gossip...or perhaps it would be a bad idea. Either way Sirena would no longer submit to the wolf.
This land was her land. She was a lone wolf and would respect nobody.
So backing out of the thorns the she-wolf turned to search for the one who was following her, slinking back the way she had come. It was hard to get anything past the old wolf that was for sure.
And with a small yawn the wolf emerged into a little clearing, padded to it's centre and sat down to wait casually for the arrival of the other female. The dappled moonlight giving her fur a strange and ghostly hue.

River didn't know Ren, she hadn't judged her but nor was she weary of her. They were equal, River had always seen them as equal though her status back at the pack said anything but.
The brown wolfs head was low, she wasn't really aware of anything around her untill she looked up suddenly to see Ren's shape though of course she didn't know who it was and she was up wind so scents weren't exactly useful.
She lowered her head again, her tail held just as low as she slowly walked towards the wolf she had been looking for.

Her eyes used the moonlight above to catch sight of the deep, brown pelted female, taking note of her rather pathetic posture. What was wrong with her? Sad over loosing her rank?
She huffed and wrinkled her snout, remembering how she had felt when she had been stripped from her rank as alpha and cast out by the traitors whom she had helped. Without her they would never have survived - or so she liked to think.
Placing on a calm but somewhat mocking smile, Sirena curled her tail about her paws and flicked her ears back. She looked rather sly in the moonlight, her teeth glinting and those dark eyes ever dull and lacking life.
Well now, what have we here? Another ex-alpha thrown into the fray? Her words were spoken in an almost sing-song way, as if they were a riddle to be solved.
Greetings to you little lost wolf, do you feel unloved? Unnecessary perhaps? She laughed, the strange cackling sound enough to send a shiver down the spines of all who heard. Do not be sad child of night, the moon shines down well upon us. We are high in her favor tonight. Her love for the moon was obvious and with her release from her pack Sirena had returned to her somewhat loony self.
No more hiding her true nature from pack members. Instead she could be herself and in fact she was quite...insane.

The voice was instantly recognisable and the words that flowed with it seemed somewhat, expected.
River sat opposite the crazy female but then she was mated to Diego, she was use to Insanity and she knew how to deal with it, most of the time.
"Unloved? No. Ex-Alpha? No, not yet." She didn't say much, she just spoke the truth. Desert and Koen still saw her as Alpha and she was grateful to have their friendship.
"Continuing your mission then Ren? The one you spoke of before." River was going to be blunt, she had decided that already though she didn't know what to expect from Ren, she knew it wouldn't be nice, how she knew she wasn't sure, it was one of those feelings.

Sirena laughed, throwing up her head to utter her crazed sound. River's words seemed to amuse her so, but deep down the old she-wolf did quite like River - though she wasn't sure why. Perhaps it was because she had proved herself able to keep secrets?
Oh is that right? Her eyes sparked with something devious as she stood up on her long, gangly legs, bowing her head in mock respect. Then forgive me for jumping to such conclusions River. She raised her head at a slight imposing tilt and swaggered closer.
So then what brings you all the way out here? If you wish me to return to your pack then I am sorry to say that you will be dissapointed. She was always so full of herself, but not without reason. She kenw she was more intelligent than most others she met and she would always use that against them.
And I have to say what I am doing now is of none of your concern. If I told you too much...I'd have to kill you, and we both know you wouldn't want that.

River held herself. She wasn't one to easily break, she had been in Reichers pack and that had taught her alot.
"Ren you are mistaken yet again. Your not a pack creature so why would I ask you to return to a pack that I am leaving myself. You make assumptions far too often." She continued to talk in an unemotional voice. She stood up though, she didn't trust Ren.
"Revenge wasn't it? Or is that me making assumptions now?" Her eyes never left the fragile female. River feared that this girl had turned to all words and would be far too easily crushed in a fight.

And for the first time the wolf was deathly quiet, her narrowing eyes staring at River as if she could see into her soul - though this was far from the truth. Revenge was oh so sweet. So very sweet and Sirena wanted it more than anything.
You know something River. I think you are not so different from me. Her ears tipped back slightly, I think that is why I chose your pack to regain my strength in.
The moonlight caught glares in her eyes then, making them glow like twin stars in the gloom. You lust for freedom, to walk where you please and yet you let the life of a pack consume your being. It has made you hollow River. She smirked then and stepped closer.
Where has River gone? Is she all dried up? You are not her any longer, you are a title and nothing more. They will refer to you as ma'am, as alpha, but never River, never friend. She canted her head and gave River a sincere look for this was Sirena trying to be a friend, you are curious about me. She continued, You wish to hear my tale so that you will understand what drives me.
Her body was weak but her mind was not. Sirena would use this to her advantage as much as she could.

River wasn't here for her counselling. Some of what Ren said was true but she had friends who were friends not just followers.
"You know not of what you speak Ren." She kept the emotion out of her voice. Ren was dangerous, that was starting to become obvious. She wasn't dangerous in the way that she would attack, no, she was dangerous in the way she pulled things out of you. It hurt more.
"Yes that is true, I am here to find out about you, not me. I know about me and I am afraid you can't teach me about myself but you can about yourself." Her eyes stared at the female in front of her, River could deal with this, she just had to keep alert, she let her guard down for a second and she could see the female ripping alot out of her through the words that she spoke.

Her lips curled up in a faint and almost snake-like smile as she regarded the wolf before her. It was fun to mess with the minds of others, especially those who seemed to welcome it.
She had to admit she was curious as to why River had left her followers to come after her. Could it really be that she just wished to hear her tale? Well Ren knew how to keep things hidden and she wasn't convinced of River's appearance here just yet. She would not apologise for leaving the pack without a word, for as far as she was concerned there was no pack left to govern. Wolves had dispersed and even one of the alpha's seemed to have dissapeared into the abyss. In fact Ren had never suspected that she'd even have seen River again.
I know of what I speak, wolf. She replied in much the way a scolding grandmother would. And do not say otherwise. I am well lived, I have seen the ways of our kind; good and bad. You leave yourself open to read and I do so as I would read the stars to guide me. Her smile widened, You're here because you fear being abandoned, you're here because you wish to fill the night with words of comfort. Well my child you will find no comfort from me. My life has been far from secure and welcoming so my heart knows nothing of such feelings.
She took one more step forwards and then sat, her eyes fixed upon the other female. Why, why do you come with these questions? Why now when I am gone and you are left behind? Is this some trickery of our Goddess who shines so bright or is it a trick of your own.

River held back a laugh that wanted to come out.
"You yet are mistaken again Ren. You believe I am left behind, lost and alone when I am not. I have friends and I have my children who love me and won't hurt me. Just because something bad happened to you and your now out for revenge or what ever it is does not mean that you can believe you know things that are nothing more then lies." She didn't raise her voice or let the tone change, she was just stating.
She continued to stand and instead of doing the same as Ren and sitting down she walked closer to the old wolf.
"Ren you are weak, I found you weak and hurt and though your physical wound has healed something hasn't. You are however still weak, you could be knocked down by a pup in your state." The words that flowed from Rivers mouth shocked her, she had never said such harsh things but for once it seemed right to say them.
She couldn't help but look at the frail wolf, the thought flickered through her mind to prove her point somehow but she decided against it. River had some power here even if it was the fact that she was younger and could possibly kill Ren, not that she would, but it was still something to think about, for River at least. She had some strength in this.

The wolf tensed as River approached but held her ground with steely definace. She would not back away from this other even if she was lightly reffered to as 'friend'. Instead she raised her head, drew in a breath to puff out her chest a little and stared into River's eyes.
Then where are your followers now? I see and smell no other living thing nearby except for squirrels tucked up in their trees. She knew very well that River was not 'alone' but she liked to play with the idea. Apparently the mentioning of children struck some painful memory deep down in Sirena and her hackles instantly bristled, her maw wrinkling with the beginnings of a snarl. I have the love of a mate. She barked back, But where is your beloved mate now? He deserted you River, he doesn't love you any longer. There was spite in her words now.
Weak in body or weak in mind? Be careful before you judge. Her ears flattened a little. You would be surprised how strong one's mind can make them. She shook her head slowly, feeling once again betrayed. What is it that makes wolves turn upon one another? Why does the pup bite the parent? Why does the Beta abuse the alpha? Why does the mate leave his loved one? Why does the friend stab the other in the back? She spat the words cruelly, as if each one was poison and it was quite obvious that it was this subject of 'treachery' that was one thing that enraged her.

River sat down infront of Ren, she was really quite close now and smiled at the way that Ren acted when River spoke of her children.
"They are around as you know Ren. As for Diego, if what you say is true then its a good thing I left him. As for your mate and family, if you had one, where are they Ren?" River watched, her voice still not changing its tone.
"Your weak in body Ren, your mind I doubt will ever die." She watched, she continued to find the female interesting and River's curiosity was growing more and more.
"So which is it Ren, did wolves turn on you? Did your pups turn against you? Which is it that has made you bitter to those who wish to help you. You Ren make wolves turn against you or had you not realised you do all you can to hurt another." River stared, her eyes looking at the eyes of the other femme, one of those things had happened to Ren, she may have said it by mistake but River wanted to know what had happened and she wouldn't leave till she knew.

Where they are? Ha! I travel now to be reunited with my mate. For though her mate was dead she knew that her time was coming too and she believed she would see him again in the afterlife. They would dance amongst the stars and howl thunder to the moon and all would be well once more.
He has been waiting for me for a long time but now, finally, I am on the last leg of my journey. She growled a low warning that if River come any closer she would bite.
Her body was indeed weak, but with her insanity and need for vengeance driving her there was no telling what kind of damage she could do.
Then as the wolfess hounded her with questions her hackles flinched and she snarled, the growl rumbling in her throat. And I'll ask again, why do you want to know? Why do you question things of no importance to you? Would you ruin the bond we shared and try to stop me? My past is dark and shadowed with hatred, it is time I closed my jaws upon that feeling and tore it apart. Only with that feeling gone can I return to my mate.
