Ambrose Phoenix

Appearance, Ambrose stands about 7’3” a massive man, though his body is quite lean. He suffers from a illness known as congenital insensitivity to pain, which means he cannot feel pain. Nor can he feel heat or cold, and thus doesn’t sweat. While this may seem like a blessing, it is also a curse. Since he doesn’t feel pain, He could be seriously injured and never know it till it was too late. He can still feel the weight of an object or the texture of the ground or the embrace of a hug though. It’s a miracle he managed to get to the age of 25 in one piece.


He has some what of the devils luck, which allowed him to get to his age. In the number of times he has been bash, beaten impaled and the like, never once has any major damage ever been done to him. His illness has also led to an increased metabolic rate, resulting in a heavy desire to eat. This increases his regeneration rate, allowing wounds to heal about 25% faster then other people. (well maybe not that fast.. it isn’t like wolverine ability to heal, but an operation that may knock a person out for a few days, may heal well enough that he wont open it again in about two.) It unfortunately also keeps him up a lot when he is not wounded due to a higher amount of energy he has. This is over come by either getting wounded, or exercising excess energy out of himself.

He is one never to know how to give up, partially because his body has never felt fatigue. End result of such things though is he will keep going on until he just suddenly passes out, though he has learned more recently when his body is about to reach a black out point.

He doesn’t grow much facial hair, but in the same time, he never really shaves either. He has a dark goldenrod colored hair his eyes are a piercing blue.


He constantly wears a long grey trench coat, underneath is some sort of unkempt formal suit. His face almost only seems to have two expressions. Crazy or thoughtful. Though he isn’t actually crazy in the slightest, his smile gives him the appearance.


History –


He was diagnosed with CITP when he was little. He came home one day at the age of three complaining that his arm wouldn’t move after playing in the back yard. It was in fact completely twisted backwards. After it was reset and brought back into place he didn’t suffer any sort of degradation. On the contrary, he found his could deliver a much more powerful right hood then his left arm could several years later.

He wasn’t allowed to due much, for fear that he might get hurt, but this didn’t stop him though from sneaking out at night for a little fun. As he grew older he began to use his illness to more of his benefit then leaving to be a curse. He trained harder and harder learning how to dodge and weave in combat. Eventually he gained the nick name the Juggernaut. He joined into a gang, which earned him several other names such as The Silent Tower, or Monster. As long as he was around no one dared challenge him or any other member in his gang. His coat was fitted out with Kevlar and removable clay plates, since after all he was still mortal. While working for the gang, he was eventually recognized by a local Mafia and brought under their wing. Here he earned yet another nick name. Grim.

His strength was something unparallel. Many people feel to him, though not one person was actually ever killed by him. He was able to keep his solemn face, just until he was ordered to “Do his work”. In a world of guns and knives, he decided to keep to his bare hands.

Eventually the mob boss began to become afraid of Phoenix and wanted him taken away. The only place he knew he could take him. The island.

One suggestion.

Change the first name as there is already a character named Ambrose on the island. I myself had to change my character's name to Christopher because the "Lyc" in his name gave away the animal he's become. Sadly enough, the "Lyc" part of his name didn't even occur to me until a few people pointed it out.

But yeah, I say change the first name as to avoid confusion.

The Ambrose on the island is a gray wolf. He was going with Emelyn for a while, who is a hedgehog, until Ambrose's old girlfriend, Angelina, tracked him to the island in search of him. So Ambrose went back with Angelina. So, you were probably thinking of when he was going with Emelyn.

So far it looks like the most votes you've gotten have been on badger. That should be interesting.

But I must ask, how is Pheonix so tall? Very rarily do you hear of people getting that tall and usually if they are, they have giant's disease. So, it seems very unlikely he'd be so tall. I'd say make him like 6'7" or something. That's still relatively tall and more believable.

Heheheheheheheheh, there seems to be some connection between Ambroses and hedgehogs here. Quite amusing.

I decided to change the first name to Priest, though he still introduces himself only as Phoenix.

(and for those of you who dont think those could ever possibly be names of real people, you are so saddly mistaken.)

Ja, but some people could be out there ready and willing to nay-say anything that it a little strange and weird.

(We have people called sunshine and moonbeam for crying out loud.)
