I never liked tea as a child; I found it terribly bitter. I know a child's pallete isn't exactly "refined" (Is a 17 year old pallete any better?), but it also did not help that my parents always buy cheap stuff. Plus, after reading the "How to Prepare Tea" thread, I realize that they steep it far too long.

Tea is kind of essential to Lolitas. I know it's more than the drink, obviously, but there is such a romantic quality in sitting down for a nice cup of tea... It is also much healthier than the sodas and sugar-packed fruit juice I usually drink.

The problem is that my sweet tooth must be sated. Please, would anyone tell me what the sweetest teas are?

Question, what kind of tea do your parents buy?
Also, do you live in the Northern or Southern US (ie, when you order tea does it naturally come sweetened and cold?).
If you live in the North, its the same kind of tea as what is ordered in the South, only they never make it sweet. I don't knwo if they serve Northern tea cold or not. D:
In the South whenever tea is ordered, it usually comes sweet and cold.

This tea can be made at home (brands include Lipton, Luzianne, etc) and is always steeped longer than Earl Grey or another type of tea.
I find it absolutely nasty unless it sweet, but that may be 'cause I grew up a Southern girl. ^_~

The only tea that sugar and creamer is not ever put into is any type of green tea.
Chai tea is supposed to always be served with lots of milk, not creamer, in it.

Good teas that are naturally sweet are mint teas (really strong once its cold), chocolate teas, and raspberry teas (best served cold). Even these aren't very sweet.

Most teas, in order to be sweet, recquire you to add sugar, honey, or a sugar substitute.

I love you! Not literally, but your the best. 3nodding whee
That answers something I have been wondering about, I have been wanting to try something different then tea.

This gives me a good idea of what to try besides what others have suggested and you really do know your facts.

Call me odd but I actually like bitter tea
The sweet tea makes me a bit ill when I drink it

Odd, since I have a bit of a sweet tooth myself

~Non-serious moment~
*Pokes*
Wow, you're seventeen?
o_O
Ha ha!
I'm fourteen!
But my friend's older sister is seventeen, her name is Ashley
I also have a lot of friends who are seventeen

~End non-serious moment~

Okay
I should not have added so much sugar to my coffee, I have sugar-bursts
It's been annoying my mum

Whew! Sorry it's taken me so long to post. I feel terrible, especially since Seraphynthetic gave me so much help... crying

To Seraphynthetic: Wow, your username is hard to type! Does it annoy you? It sounds very cool though!

I live in Southern California (ridiculously close to the border, actually). I don't know if tea comes hot or cold when you order it because... I don't. I guess cold.

They have, *gulp*, chocolate tea?! No way! Rasberry and mint tea sound scrumptious as well, I'll have to try these when I get home!

Thank you so so much!!

To ChibiChibiKai: I figured I wasn't alone in wanting a sweet and delicious tea!

[secret] I think Seraphynthetic is wonderful as well. Lolita mentor! heart [/secret]

To The Dreaming Lolita: I will call you odd for liking bitter tea.

Odd! (just kidding, of course)

*pokes* Yes I am! I don't look it, though. I get tons of comments about how I look 14. Isn't that a strange concidence, you actually being 14 and all?

I have proof though! I have ID!! Really! Nothing against being 14, I just get annoyed with people asking "Why aren't you in school, little girl?". When I dress Lolita, I look even younger. eek Like ten or something. *sigh*

I'd reccomend fruit teas. Especially for someone who doesnt like the bitterness, stay away from green tea, black tea, etc. They all have lots of the tannin-like flavor. Even some herb teas take that flavor.
It really sounds like the best thing for you would be fruit teas. Raspberry, maybe Apple Cinnamin, Peach, Black Cherry, maybe even orange. Typically fruit teas are sweeter than other kinds and not so bitter. Just add sugar to your taste and cream if you like it.

I agree with the flavoured teas, but do not discount cheap tea. There is a generic brand tea where I live and it beats the expensive name brands 10 fold, well when it comes to earl grey anyway.

well that's my two cents whee

I never type in my username on Gaia anymore. xD I use that auto sign-in feature. I'm kind of mad at myself for using Seraphynthetitc instead of Seraphynth like I normally use. x:

I don't often order tea when we go out ot eat unless it's one of those teas that has the fruit flavour liquor (it's not alcoholic) added to it. I like blackberry and peach. <3
So you don't know how tea comes where you live? You should order it sometime to see. I'm curious now as to how the West does their tea. o:

Yup, chocolate tea. It's very good. <3 I like chocolate strawberry. I've got a bag of loose "Chocolate Mocha Spice" that I have yet to try.

Do you by any chance know the brand of tea that makes chocolate tea? I've never seen it in any of the stores I shop at, but I would be interested in trying some out. (Honestly, how can you go wrong with chocolate? <3)

I recommend Market Spice, its a cinnamon orange spice tea, which you don't need any sugar at all! Though be careful not to steep for too long or it'll get really spicy.

Hmmm....

Teavana makes a few chocolate teas. http://www.teavana.com/

And Magnolia and Ivy also has a chocolate tea. http://www.magnoliaivy.com/

Try out those websites. :]
