Trying to debate with antis in the GD is akin to banging one's head against the wall repeatedly; they'll both produce the same kind of headache.
I really should get off Gaia, and go to bed ... but that thread is like a car-crash and I can't avert my eyes gonk

"I can't think of any way to argue with this evidence"
"I know that there is some way that some anti-life moron is going to argue with this"
Well, I'll have a crack at it. How about this: IT'S NOT ******** REAL.
Imagine if I make a rubber manequin of a human, mutilated it, spread fake blood all over, took pictures, posted those pictures on the internet, and said "This is what happens when you go to church and believe in GOD! OMG! I don't know how, after seeing this, that anyone can still believe in something as horrible as God!"

I replied with the following: Flame Warrioress Darling, even if these photos were real, I still wouldn't feel guilty. My body is mine, and mine alone. It is against the law for anything or anyone to use parts of my body to survive without my consent. If a man is dying, and needs one of my kidneys in order to survive, I don't have to give it to him. Even if he would die without my kidney, I am still legally protected against being forced to give him one of my kidneys. A fetus is the same thing. If I do not want a fetus in me, then it has no right to use parts of my body to survive. Despite the fact that it will not survive without my body, it still has no legal right to make use of my body for its own needs. And in case anyone comes back at me and says "You had sex; you took the risk of being pregnant so now you have no choice." Bullshit. If I get into a car and drive, then I am taking the risk of being hit by another driver. If I get into an accident, even if it is a total accident and no one is at fault, I still didn't give up my bodily integrity just because I got into a car. It doesn't mean that I ought to deal with the consequences of the accident all on my own with no help from hospitals or insurance companies just because I knew that if I drove, I might get into an accident.

I guess they wouldn't be too happy knowing that posting those kinds of pictures makes me want to abort faster, because I don't want those disgusting looking things inside my body.

If you get into a car completely a**-drunk and you are speeding and you swerve and hit someone who was being a perfect driver and the accident is 100% your fault, even if that other driver needs your blood to live, you STILL cannot be forced to give it to them. EVEN if pro-lifers want to argue that it was "your fault for having sex," it doesn't matter. The government does NOT have the right to force me to give up my body for others for ANY reason (aside from the military, but I'd fight that too). It doesn't matter who's fault it is. You do not lose your basic human rights just because you are at "fault." Even people in prison who have murdered and mutilated and tortured tons of people STILL must have their human rights protected.

Kukushka Even people in prison who have murdered and mutilated and tortured tons of people STILL must have their human rights protected. Barring the possible right to freedom, and often the right to vote, yes. But you have to remember, women don't get rights. Because we are too...perfect, loving, and simple-minded to use them correctly... You know, all women need to be controled by a man, and probably the government also, because we can't make choices for ourselves. Yeah, I don't get it either. Women need to be protected...But we're also dirty, dirty sluts who should be punished for daring to enjoy sex and not wanting to be a parent. Society sort of sucks.

WatersMoon110 Barring the possible right to freedom, and often the right to vote, yes. There are certain acceptable punishments laid down by international law (the Geneva Conventions, for example). Keeping a person confined within a camp or a cell is acceptable. Denying them the right to participate in their government is acceptable. Removing parts from or doing things to their body that they have not agreed to, however, is not ok. There is a fine line between taking someone away from the society they pose a threat to and torture. But that's why we have a lot of international conventions and treaties to identify where that line is. As to the rest, I will never understand it. If someone said to me that they believed that the government's job was to ensure the life of tax payers at any cost and, therefore, to treat their citizens like cattle (making sure to keep them as healthy and alive as possible by any means necessary), then fine. I can accept that view. I don't agree with it, but I can see the merit. But to say that the government should respect people's right to personal autonomy UNLESS those people are women in a certain stage of reproduction, that's just being a hypocrit. There is no merit to this argument that I have been able to see. Either the government interferes with our day-to-day lives to ensure that as many tax payers as possible are healthy and able to pay taxes maximizing government profits, or they don't. But to pick and choose who gets rights and who doesn't is bullshit.

I should make an anti-open heart surgery thread and post icky pictures while saying "ZOMG THATS WHAT THEY'RE DOING TO YOU IN THERE HOW COULD YOU WANT SOMEONE TO DO THAT TO YOU????/////? IT'S SO GROSS!!!111!1"
Pro-lifers showing gory pictures is a pet peeve of mine, I apologize. I mean, I'm not too fond of the whole concept, but that particular method of protesting irritates me more than others.
