Love love love.. it was all about love lately up in the mountains. Kinguyakkii and Frosta.. how cloying. They were so in love it made Achera want to gag. It also made her jealous but she wasn't likely to come near to admitting that to herself.

As if the love wasn't bad enough, then came baskets. Three kids.. three foals for them to adore. She had to leave. She needed to get out of the area.

Granted that Achera couldn't go near the little family anyway, she could still hear them. Hear the laughter in the happy voice of Frosta, hear the pride in King's voice.

Then the voices went silent for a time. She wasn't aware that it was the break down of the family.. the foals leaving, the parents not seeing them leave. All she knew was that she needed to leave before it started again.

In a fiery rush the mare ran down the side of the mountain, leaving streaks of flames in her wake as she rushed to the desert.. and to her future.

So much heat...it was rather unpleasant. No, it was more than rather unpleasant...it was VERY unpleasant. This fact, while hardly a revelation, did manage one thing: it brought Zaphiro up short, and made him simply stop and look around at the landscape.

Harsh sunlight streamed down on the dark blue stallion, dancing across the irridescant sparkles that covered his coat. No doubt he dazzled so much that he could be seen from quite a ways away, but for once he wasn't thinking of being visible. All that he was thinking of was the fact that he was in the desert, and that it was hot.

And why was he in the desert, anyway? Well, because that was where he landed, to be perfectly frank. He's simply taken off from the lakeside and flown off in a random direction...well, maybe this would teach him NOT to do that in the future >< Great piece of real estate, this.

Achera muttered as she walked down the edge of the mountain to get to the dryiest part of the desert. She noticed the large blue stallion that was heading her way somehow and snorted, her firey yet useless wings spreading.

"Who are you?" She asked the question softly. It was hard to decide if she wanted to be pissed off or if she wanted to go and speak to him. Ugh.. he was blue like... like her brother.. his mate..

"Always blue. Though he is a nice blue."

If Zaphiro had been paying attention to his surroundings, then he might have noticed the firey mare; might even have been able to hear what she was muttering under her breath. He definitly would have walked over and introduced himself, inquired as to what she was doing in this god-forsaken piece of real estate, asked her name, and whether or not she knew of anyplace with water and maybe a little shade.

As it was, though, he has returned his attention to his immeadiate area...or rather, the ground in his immeadiate area. Some Soquili thrived on heat and dryness, but obviously the sapphie wasn't one of them; he continued to meander onwards, his mane, tail, and wings becoming limper by the minute. He definitely needed to get out of this place...as soon as he got some energy back!

Achera muttered more walking through the loose sand. Her eyes were now locked on the stallion. Something seemed wrong with him. He wasn't melting, so at least he was not as weak as her brother, but he still didn't seem all that happy in the land of swirling sands. "Something amiss blueboy?"

It likely would come off as her being insulting to him, but in truth that was all that Achera could come to call him. He had no name that she was aware of. They hadn't met so she wasn't going to make one up. Also.. he was very blue. Sparkly too. What was with blue sparkly stallions lately?

A personal address was always good at getting one's attention..even if the personalization of said request was a little off. However, Achera's question was enough to attract Zaphiro's gaze to the firey mare...which in turn made him feel even hotter than he already was. Good grief, the mare appeared to be on fire! If that was what he had to look forward to out here, then maybe he should just skip the water and get the hell out.

However, even in dire circumstances and in blazing heat, he was nothing if not a gentleman, and gentlemen never ignored a lady. Even a flaming one.

"Good afternoon, Ma'am. Nothing is particularly amiss with me...nothing, at least, that a simple change of venue and maybe a good long swim wouldn't fix. I hope that nothing is amiss with you?" Cocking an eyebrow at the mare, he fanned himself with his large wings, relishing the cool breeze thus created while taking the measure of the mare. Upon closer inspection, he was starting to think that she was just...naturally flame-like. Definitly something different, that was certain.

Ye gads she had found another coolness lover. At least he hadn't mentioned Ice or snow. There was hope yet. "Amiss?" She mused over the new words and shrugged. "Nah just coming down to get away from the sickness above." She looked up at the mountains. Volcanic ash difting down a bit now. It seemed as though the volcano above was unhappy to have its resident leave.

"Hot?" She asked briefly. "It'll cool when the ash settles and darkens the suns glare."

That was a truely kind comment from her. Generally her words were biteing and terse. She didn't know the stallion so rudeness was pointless at the moment.

Lovelier and lovelier; so now there was a volcano acting up, just what this place needed to make it completely unbearable instead of mostly unbearable. No...that was rather harsh; it also needed some crass and obnoxious Soquili to make it truly horrible. But before that happened...

"Well, I suppose that's one positive...but I can't say that I've ever been big on ash, as it's difficult to walk through and tends to get all flakey and disgusting." Glancing down at the hot sand underfoot, Zaphiro imagined what it would look like covered in ash...what he himself would be like covered in ash...yuck. He was too fond of clear breathing to hang around for that.

But he was never one to abandon anyone, either; at the mare's comment about 'escaping the sickness above', he assumed that she was also referring to the volcano; therefore he couldn't leave her alone out here. "But yes, I'm rather hot, and thinking that now would be a good time to move onwards. Where are you headed, Miss?"

Heading? She hadn't really put too much thought into heading anywhere really. It didn't seem overly terrible here. Not to her at least. She looked at the stallion and noticed his coat was getting a bit glossy, and not that of health either. He must truly have been having a bad time of being here. She didn't even want to ask why he would have been out at all where he wasn't feeling well.

"I.. didn't think that far really. Just away from them." She looked up and sighed. The volcano. She knew what was going on. It was getting mad she had left and let it shift in his balance up there. "Things will settle on their own. They did before me and they will after."

Disgusting as he was feeling, Zaphiro was still alert enough to curious about the mare's rather cryptic statements. Settling down before her? What was she referring to, the volcano? Or just the heat? And who were "them", anyway?

Well, asking personal questions had never been something Zaphiro was especially keen on, and even if it had been it was doubtful that he'd feel much like asking at the moment. "Well, if you're heading away from here, why don't you come with me? Getting out of this place is rather high on my list of priorties as well." And misery loved company, right? He wasn't sure if she was miserable or not, but he was sure feeling pretty close.

Snorting a bit the firey red mare looked at the sparkling blue stallion. "Well then, if you wish to get away, and I wish to keep moving, I should likely follow you. You know of good places to be?" She glanced up gasping in shock as a little... well.. what looked like a little fireball started to plumet right for them. "What in the name of hades is that?"

She pranced back a few paces accidetally backing into Zaph in her shock.

"Well, I happen to think that the forest in a good place to be, or the plains, or the coast..." In fact, almost any place other than a desert beneath a live volcano was probably a good place to be, come to think of it. Hopefully it wouldn't be too hard for the two of them to make to someplace a bit more hospitable; perhaps the mare's flames would actually go out...

Mulling on those thoughts as he was, it took a combination of Achera's exclamation and her bumping into him to draw his attention upward. As he did so, his eyes widened at the sight of the plummeting ball of flame; regardless of how large it truly was, at the moment it seemed to be monumental. "Fireball!"

Reacting quickly, he wrapped one of his wings over Achera and dove sideways, hitting the sand with his other shoulder but hopefully avoiding being torched by a wayward bit of flame.

He had saved her. This stallion has actually acted to protect her. Achera was in shock at Zaph's reaction and she started to blush. Opening her eyes again she was shocked to see the little fireball hovering in front of them chittering in anger. It seemed to be a flying... ferret? "I hit my head right?"
She looked at Zaphiro hopeing that he would tell her that she did and that she wasn't really seeing a burning, flying rodent in front of her trying to tell her of.

"..." Zaphiro actually didn't know what to say at the moment. He had gotten back to his feet quickly after their dive, but obviously he had stood up too suddenly. Or something. His shoulder hurt, but as far as he knew bashing one's shoulder into things didn't cause delusions!

Although he had to admit that delusions of flaming flying ferrets (woot for alliteration) were novel.

"Unless we both knocked our heads together and are suffering from the same flight of fancy...I think that that's an angry ferret. An angry...flying...flaming...ferret." And saying it out loud didn't make it make any more sense.

Staring at the ferret as he spoke, Zaphiro didn't notice Achera's reaction to his 'rescue'; however, his own words reminded him that he was forgetting something. "You aren't hurt, are you? Obviously I overreacted in regards to the threat; it wasn't my intention to manhandle you in any way." For a moment, he managed to tune out the...other thing; golden eyes were instead fixed in concern on the mare beside him.

Achera looked at the stallion and flushed. "I.. I thank you for your actions on my behalf. It.. was.. nothing that anyone had ever done for me bef-owww!" She frowned as the ferret bit her ear. "What the heck are you doing little flying rat?" She narrowed her eyes on it before looking back on Zaphiro again. "Uhh thank you." She swallowed as she finally noticed how.. strong he was. "Uhh so I guess he is real.."
