[ For some terribly odd reason Matawi had wandered out of the jungle once more. To her it felt cramped and very hard to breath. She enjoied the breeze that whipped around the Savannah better that the humid air in the trees.
As she wandered around in the tall grasses she felt more at hime. Through her journey from the jungle to where she was now she had began to feel less like a leopard and more like a spotted lion, or maybe just a cheetah. Matawi's only things that set her apart from being a lion or a cheetah were that she couldn't run as fast and that she could climb trees.
Oh how she loved what made her different, but at the same time... She wanted to be the same as others in the area. As she wandered around, gazing around boredly, her eyes fell upon several others. She wanted to approch them but was to cautious. What if they tried to harm her in anyway? She found in much easier to wait and get approched instead. ]

A large gray lion paced along, the sound of his paws on beating against the ground music to his ears. Walking always made his spirits rise, even when they didn't need to. Echos of tales danced through his head like leaves on a breeze and he paused in his strides, making a face at one of them. He didn't like sad stories, but remembered them all the same.
"Ah, the day is too nice to spoil with a sad song," he told himself as he finally took a look around to see where he had taken himself. He noticed a leopard near and inclined his head in greeting.
"Good day to you," he called, grinning broadly. Tembezishaha's blue eyes matched the sky today and sparkled with good humor beneath his prominent orange mane.

[ The green on Matawi's pelt stuck out in the yellow. She jumped as she heard anothers voice calling out to her, at least... She though it was calling out to her. Her bright eyes stared around and landed on a bright orange mane, which was all she really noticed on the great lion. Slowly, but surely, she bagen to take little steps towards him out of curiousity.
Wind ruffled the grass as she walked, making it easier for het to get through the grass that she wasn't accustomed to quite yet, but in time it would be nothing to her.
"H-Hello." She stuttered. This lion was much larger than Matawi and made her uncomfortable. She tried not to show it but it was still obivous. She walkedcloser before her paws got tangled in the grass and she tripped and fell, landing on her face. ]

Shaha watched as she walked towards him, noting how uncomfortable she looked. He slouched down a bit, in an attempt to look less large and intimidating. He jumped when she tripped and rushed foreward to assist her. "Oh, my, are you all right?" he asked nudging her shoulder a little willing to help her up. He was definately his father's son, chivalrous to a fault.
"I'm sorry, I can't help but think that was my fault," he added, his voice deep, but calm. It was true that he was rather large, but he was all fluff most of the time. He didn't have it in him to be gruff.

[ Matawi looked up at him. What a wonderful first impresion. She was amking a fool of herself in front of suck a large being, which made her feel that she was weak. "I am fine." She whispered and forced out a laugh, trying to make herself feel better about the fall. She rose into a sitting position and stared at the lion, wondering why he had been so quick to help her.
She shook her head. "It was my own fault for travleing outside of what I'm used to." She admitted. The cursed grass was out to get her for leaving her home, she could tell. "Why did you rush to my side?" She peered at him through the corner of her eye and spoke in a sly voice. ]

Shaha sat back when she sat up and listened to her excuses. Then she asked him a very interesting question. The look on his face became one of complete surprise, his eyes widening slightly and blinking.
"Um... Well, you fell and I thought you might... No, that's not right. I thought it was the right thing, to help you up. A proper male should help a lady up when she falls, no matter who or what is at fault. Or, at least, that's my opinion," he said, stumbling over his words at first, but finally coming to a reason that sounded right. He leaned his head to one side so that he could scratch his ear, something he often did when he was unsure of his words or actions.

[ Matawi couldn't help but laugh. She tried to look interested in his reasoning but couldn't. As she watched him stutter and think of what to say, she had also began to wonder why he talked to her. Matawi decided that it might be best not to ask thoug. She didn't want to seem to rude.
"Well, I guess helping a female in need is a good reason." She said, trying to sound sure of herself but a bit of curiousity bubbled under her words. Was it really the right thing to do? Helping a female in need? Maybe it was, maybe not. She blinked quickly and tried not to drop her gaze. She was going to watch this lion until she was sure that she could really trust him. ]

"Well... I guess it just feels like the right thing for me to do. That's how I was taught and well, I think any male who wouldn't take the time to help a female in need doesn't deserve their charming company," Shaha said with a nod. He shrugged a bit and decided not to take offense from her laugh. The gods knew he was used to the sound of others' laughter, often directed at him. It never made him mad, though. He knew that laughter was good for the soul and he was glad to cause it, even if it was taken out of his mistakes.
"Forgive me, I seem to have forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Tembezishaha, but most others just call me Shaha," he said, nodding his head slightly.

[ Matawi grinned, not out of laughter but out of joy. "At least some males were taught right." It was much better to be helped than to be laughed at, which made her feel guilty for laughing at him. He was such a sweet lion, maybe she could befriend him.
She tried to speak his name and failed miserably, "Tembblizmetshashe?" She laughed at her own attempted and was relived that he had a nick name. "Shasha? I can say that just fine. My name is Matawi." She was proud of it's shortness, but sometimes she wondered if the longer the name, the better you were.
She shook some of the dirt that was still on her face off, "So, what do lions do around here?" She asked, acting like she was one. After all. She would reather be a lion or a cheetah. Rather than a tree dwelling leopard. ]

Shaha chuckled as she attmepted his name. "I agree, my nickname is so much easier. Actually, it sounds like laughter, to be truthful," he said looking around.
"Around here? I actually don't know. I don't live around here," he said and figured he'd probably have to explain. "I travel, you see. A lot. I come from a family that wandered the lands, pretty much entertainers and, well, I can't seem to stay in one place for very long. It has its pluses, I get to meet a lot of different creatures, but..." he trailed off there with a shrug. He'd have to admit, it was rather lonely, even thought there was almost always someone new to meet. He made lots of friends, but never got to spend much time with them.

[ Matawi nodded. "It is unbelivibly easier." a wide grin was still slapped on her face as she spoke. He was such an interesting lion. Ever since she had left the jungle all her days had been much better, al though. She would return to it one day.
She looked around. To her it seemed that the others just slept. "I'm not from around here either." She said while examining her suroundings. Then Matawi realized that it was obvious that she didn't live around here. She wasn't like any of the other big cats around. She couldn't help but feel a little odd about it.
"Entertianers?" She questioned and returned her eyes to him. And continued a question, "Might I travle with you for some time so you won't be to alone?" She wondered if his family was ever about with him or if Shaha was always alone. ]

Shaha blinked, clearly surprised. No one had ever offered to come with him. "If you really want to. I left my family group because they spent too long in certain areas at a time, or at least in my opinion," he explained, the joy in his voice uncontained. He would be happy to travel with another again. He was a social lion at heart, but he just couldn't sit still for very long.
"We traveled from place to place, telling stories or fortunes or entertaining in general. They're probably the reason I'm so comfortable around others. There wasn't a lot of us, but we were all different types. Cheetahs, leopards, my parents and myself, and a pair of wild dogs," he told her about his family. He did miss them, but knew he would have left eventually.

[ "Of course I want to. I wouldn't have offered if I didn't." She said bluntly. That way, if she went, she could have a friend and a bit of a body guard. Maybe she could even become more like the other kind she wanted to be. "Will me meet...Cheetahs?" she questioned. Matawi was full of questions at this point.
She listened intently about who he had travled with in the past. Unlike him, she had no family to begin with so leaving her home was simple enough. "I have never met a wild dog. Are they interesting?" She asked and tilted her head to the left. ]

"Well, I imagine we would meet cheetahs. And maybe wild dogs," Shaha said, looking off in thought. Interesting was definately the right word for the wild dogs he grew up with. they had been in the entertaining part of the group. When Shaha's mother would tell the stories of the past, they would act them out. They were a rather... excentric pair that always made him laugh as a cub.
"Yes, I do believe wild dogs are interesting. But, they're just like any other creature. Each has their own personality, so there are good wild dogs and... Not so good wild dogs," he finished slowly with a heavy sigh.
He would admit that there had been times where he had to defend himself or others. He didn't carry the scars on his coat, but they marked his soul. He wouldn't admit it, but he was a strong lion with a dark, feirce side to his soul. Although it rarely showed, he hated that part of him, the part that had little control during a fight.

[ Matawi half purred. She loved Cheetahs more than she knew. They were so fast. There were many qualities that she liked in all creatures. "I have never met a not so good creature before, and I don't plan to for a while." she sighed, she didn't want to meet anyone until she knew she could protect herself out in the open. She could hide in the trees when there were several, but now she didn't know how to escape, she would have to stand and fight. Something she wasn't fond of.
She stared up at his face. It looked like something was troubling him but she wouldn't say anything about it. It wouldn't be good to get left when she might trip, fall, or get ambushed. Although the last part didn't seem like it would happen. ]
