[Pre-arrival to the Sea pride.]

It was close now, but still a far way to go. She could smell that the earth had changed- it lingered in her nose, and it even tickled her tongue, the salty scent; but as near as she felt in spirit the sheer distance between herself and what lay over the rocky hillside was daunting. A day had passed now since her meal from Danzi- and she was already getting hungier. The river was thinner in these parts, and cold and hollow enough that she found nothing worth eating. Kilua had thought the taste of meat had been a godsend- but now even the taste of her familiar game, frogs, would have been satisfying.

But as dire as situations were with the hobbled female, she seemed to be in a rather good mood. Walking was taking a terribly long while, but she had placed enough hope to fill a lake that what she desired was at the very end of the river. And the river, unfortunately, had taken a sudden upward tilt towards the sky.

Itself- the river did not flow upwards, for over centuries it had carved itself a place in the hillside. But the land around it jutted upwards- and now the wild water was many feet below her, and she followed it from the overhang, hoping that it would not mislead her.

Feeling winded, and her now somewhat crooked leg throbbing, the lean lioness sat, and took in a sudden rush of air. As she did, a faint tone hummed out of her mouth, and she was rather pleased at the sound of her own voice.

“It’s not far.” Kilua spoke gently to her wrists, which she gently licked. It was far. “-now just to find a way...” Awkwardly, the female glanced off the cliff side. “...back down.”

Kweupe was drifting silently through the afternoon air. His white mane was being blown about gently by the soft, moist wind from what seemed to be a waterfall. He hummed softly to himself, a song he had learnt from a young cub some time ago. The tune was soothing to his thoughts, especially of Kiva and what they had done. The waterfall reminded him of the past, memories he wanted to forget, yet remember at the same time.

He let his purple eyes wander around the waterfall, and he noticed a small shape that vaguley resembled a lion. The God flew towards the shape, and as he approached, the shape became clear. It was indeed a lioness, yet he didn't know why or how she had climbed to such a height, or how she could get down. Maybe the winged God could be of assistance.

"Dear, what are you doing up here?" He called out to the lioness as he approached, landing silently beside her. She must have a good reason to be where she is.

Perhaps the sight of a god flying down from the clouds might have been a powerful and religious sight to those who had faith. And really- looking back, Kilua realized it really was rather beautiful. The white and the sky... but, for one that had never even been schooled on any kind of idea of a Goddess and her entourage, the sight of a god brought nothing less then terror into the small female.

At once Kilua jerked to her feet and scrambled towards the edge, her fur standing on end and her tail hiking into the air. Her stance brought quite a bit of pain to her bad leg- but with the adrenaline pounding in her ears, she hardly noticed. The lion landed with a gentle thump, and must have said something. Had she heard it? Her mouth dropped slowly and air rushed from her throat, although she couldn’t manage the strength to scream or even stammer a hello.

It didn’t help that there was no place to go- at least, that is, except down.

Trembling, the blue grey creature took another step back, feeling the rocky earth behind her with her back feet. Words were not coming still, and her ears pressed against her skull. What was that? A delusion because of the infection? But she had been sure it had been healing-!

Kweupe looked on at the female in puzzled expression upon his face. The female was scared? He never met a lion that was scared of a God before... Maybe this one was different, either way, he couldn't have young lionesses jumping off of cliffs because he didn't have a chance to explain himself.

"Dear, stop!" He cried, not wanting her to go any futher. "I mean you no harm..." Kweupe felt strange talking in this manner. He was not scarey! At least in his own opinion, surely the female could see that. He folded his wings onto his back, hoping this would make the lioness feal easier.

Kilua swallowed and lowered herself to the ground. Had more coherent conversation been going on- she probably would have wondered how it ever came to be that mortals grew used to the sight of gods. But even past that- Kilua didn’t even know what she was looking at. The idea of a god hadn’t fit into her mind frame, and even less had the idea of winged lions.

“I-“ She stammered, and slunk even further backwards. Her shoulder and ribs connected with the side of a rock, and she could go no further. Mother! She thought wildly. What was this? It was more real then her delusions.

He was speaking again, but it was mostly a blur. She saw the flash of a pink tongue, and was somewhat hypnotized by the breaking of color lines. “– I don’t know what you are, but I havn’t done anything-“ She croaked, and leaned a bit lower down.

Kweupe was dumbstruck. Absolutely dumbstruck. The lioness was scared. Scared for god's sake! Kweupe had already tried explaining to her that he didn't want to hurt her. Maybe she didn't hear him? Either way he didn't want to have to explain again, and he definiately didn't want her plummeting over the edge. Instead, the God simply sat down on the cliff-face, hoping this submissive move would keep her from a deathly fall.

"Please, sit with me. When you become more rational with your thoughts and actions, we will chat." He then proceeded to lick his fur, almost totally ignoring the female.

Kilua pulled back in surprise, and simply shook his head. “Be rational-!” She spoke suddenly, her voice cut and haggard both from her exhaustion and concern. “You come flying down out of the sky, and you think that’s rational-? I don’t even think I’m awake.” She uttered, and shakily got to her feet. For a moment, her bad leg gave out on her, and she stumbled, before she carefully readjusted her stance.

Was it such a surprise that she was afraid? Something was terribly wrong with this, the grey female thought. Perhaps it really was a delusion- she had had one when the infection in her leg had gone sour. But she had thought it healed...

Kweupe rolled his eyes. The female would listen to his voice of reason at all! Was she just ignoring the fact that he was a god? Well, he could do something about that, if it would make lioness feel better about their meeting. All gods had the ability to cast an illusion upon themselves to hide their... feathered attributes. However, Kweupe had never had to cast an illusion, he took pride in his appearance, and most normal lions respected that. This female was different though. The Sky God was about to close his amethyst colored eyes, to allow himself to concentrate upon his illusion, when he realised that it would probably make the female more agitated, if she say something change into something else before her eyes.

"Dear, I'd pinch you to show that you are awake, but I lack the proper requirments, and I don't want to disturb you any more." So Kweupe continued to lay there, He flicked his tail every then and again, slowly becoming impatient with the current situation. He could just leave, but that was impolite.

Kilua heaved, sucking in the breath from her chest and glancing towards the winged lion. She had to look away. What in the world was going on? Another slow breath, and she looked up again. s**t. He was still there. That meant there was probably a good likelihood he really was there- but that was so illogical she could not fathom it.

“Um-“ Kilua stammered, trying not to look directly at him, but adjusting her posture so she was at least respectfully angled in his direction. “What- what happened to you? How’d you get bird wings stuck on you?” She spoke quietly in a half peep, and she peered out from behind her paw again.

What a strange acting female, why couldn't she just accept that he was there and they could get on with their conversation. It would be much easier that way.

"What do you mean what happened to me dear, I was created this way! As most gods are." He stated matter-of-factly. Had this young lioness never heard of Gods before?!
