Chakras- There are seven main energy centers in the human body; the Chakras. I'm going to address eleven of them. (yes, 11 out of 7, have a problem with my math? LOL) I address eleven of them because the main seven are important, but I also find it easer to work with if eleven of them are clean, not just the main seven.
Chakras are energy centers, the places in the body where the energy flows and gathers in large amounts. Negative energy gathers there too, and it is a good idea to clean them out. The main seven Chakras and the four minor ones I'm going to deal with are as follows. (Colors may very from person to person.)
Major Chakras:
Crown Chakra-Very top of the head, thus the name crown. Bright White/yellow are most common.
Third Eye Chakra- Between the eyes, and slightly up on the forehead. Purple/Green are most common.
Throat Chakra- Middle of the Throat. Bright Blue is most common (seems to be the only one...?)
Heart Chakra- At the Heart. Red/Light Pink/Light green are most common.
Solar-Plexus Chakra- (Seems to be the most varied on position) Between the end of the rib cage and the belly button. Yellow/Dark purple. are most common.
'Soul' Chakra (not too fond of the name, as your soul is all over your body...)- Orange/Violet are most common.
Base Chakra- At the base of the torso. Red/White
Four Minor Chakras:
Hands and Feet: on the hands and feet. Bright white is most common, but these lesser ones vary more in color than the minor ones.
(There are many lesser chakras all over the body, and most of the body is full of overlapping light (can we say aura?), and you could spend all day going over them.
Most common ways of cleaning the Chakras: Use a 'vacuum ball' of either white energy for purity or of black energy for keeping negativity away (or both) and visualize it going over all the Chakras and taking all the negative energy and trapping it in it. When all the Chakras are clean, have the vacuum ball sink into the earth, where she will change the negative energy into positive energy to help the earth grow. (Kinda like a spiritual compost heap.)
Visualize a river of energy flowing through you and through all your Chakras, taking all the negative energy away with it, and flowing away from you and your body.
Visualize taking your Chakras and shaking them all out, making the negative energy fall out, replace them and clean up the energy and bury it/throw it away/wash it away exc...
Visualize a breeze flowing upon your body and blowing the negative energy all away with one steady gust, until it is all away.
(Ok, That's enough of those...)

Though mostly controlled by the crown chakra, they can also be controlled by hand gestures and arm movement. This is called non mental control; for example when you assume the goddess patron in a spell-that is a non metal control of a Chakra. The most widely known use for this type of magic is ninjetsu (no not the sexy jetsu) its pretty much a dead magic system but I have met and seen users of this type and its amazing the amount of control they have over the energies.

Just as a side note to help keep them Chakras clean so you arent having to repeatedly cleaning them, and it helps replenish that happy energy in the air!
Your environment can enfluence the ammount of energies you take in, and the types as well. In example, if you live in a messy dirty invironment, and hang around negative or depressing peooke, or are yourself, a bit negitive, and depressed, your chakras are going to be collecting a bunch of negative energies, and after a while, it can start to hurt physically!
Like I'll give you a personal example of the physical from myself. My back and shoulders are always acking, the muscles are almost always as tight as spandex (Pretty damn tight!) and rock hard. This gives me many pains in mostly my uper back and shoulder areas.
Though I'm a bit messy by nature, and I do tend to take in alot of stress, so my chakras becomes very hard to clean and I've given up on trying to keep up with myself.
On the more positive side if you are a happy go lucky, and live in a cleaner environment and have a refreshing start every day the longer your chakras will stay clean and the less chance of a negative build up...
Anyways, just hoping this is a helpful tip, but this is also from my own personal exerpiance too sweatdrop

I have also heard it said that there are many smaller chakras on each hand and each foot. This is always how I usually visiallize them. Interesting to hear another take on it though. mrgreen

I've been doing Tai Chi lately, and I've found that it really really helps to clear out my energies and centralise myself... most of it is to do with the flow of energy, and clearing out your chi which has a similar effect to doing the meditations and visualisations to clear out the chakras but it seems to work a lot better for me. I'd recommend for anyone to give it a try, I've never felt better since I started going! It's kinda cool how it all sorta links together really 3nodding
