Well, it happened.
My boy and I were doing it the other day (It was the night of August 31) and the condom broke. We aren't entirely sure WHEN the condom broke, but it could not have been broken for more than 2 or 3 minutes because we periodically check for it, and he had checked about 2-3 minutes prior, and then pulled out because he said it felt different. That's when we discovered it.
He did not ejaculate and he was not close to ejaculation, but I know you can get pregnant off of pre-ejaculate, which is my prime concern.
I GOT my period on the 21st of August and it ended on the 26th. I was trying to figure out whether I'm close to ovulation or not but I guess I'm too tired to grasp the concept. I have pretty long cycles too... I'd say at LEAST the 28 days, and they aren't always regular due to the fact that I've had an eating disorder for years.
Anyways, I am just wondering what the chances are in this situation that I could get pregnant. I think personally that when I DO try to have a baby it will actually be hard for me to concieve, considering the damage I must have done to my body over the years, but I don't think it's safe to use that as a backup excuse for accidents.
I do not want to be pregnant right now, as I am only 20, but my boy and I have discussed the possibility and at least we are financially stable in the event that it does happen. The reason I am not on birth control pills is that I also get chronic migraines and most types of birth control pills trigger migraines, in which case I would be sleeping all the time and not having sex anyways.
I intend to go get a pregnancy test soon. By the way, when would I be able to get a reading on one? It's only been... mhh... 3 days now, I guess, since it happened, so I think I need to wait a little longer.
Advice appreciated 3nodding I am very glad I had joined this guild.

Well, the thing is NO one can tell you what your specific chances are of getting pregnant. Just that there is the chance. My stepson is the result of a broken condom, so it does happen.
Waiting to test is the only way to know. They do make over-the-counter pregnancy tests that can now detect the HcG hormone even a few days before your period is supposed to start, but for the most part, the optimum time for testing is about a week after the first day of your missed period. It's usually best to read the labels to see the effectiveness of the tests and detection levels.

If birth control pills give you migraines, is there another type of hormonal birth control you use?
Condoms are a good start, but as you've already seen, if they break, you're semi-screwed because there's nothing else to back-up the condom with added protection (like spermicide or a diaphram, etc).
I've been on the Pill (little over a year), Depo (year and a half), and now the Patch (3 months and counting), and Depo was my favourite. But it's also the strongest of the three, and it's not recommended for everyone. Would you be able to ask your doctor about something like an IUD or the Patch? Or even a diaphram or spermicide?
