I watched grave of the fireflies a few days ago and i have to say it really upset me. It was such a sad story i have to admit i had a little blub at the end and it made me think about the effects of war on innocent people. Have you seen any anime that has really made you think afterwards?? crying

After the ending of Fullmetal Alchemist I thought about the whole concept of "equivilent exchange" and whether or not it really applied to real life. It was pretty interesting to think about. razz Very enlightening.

Neon Genesis Evangelion has made me truly think. I understand it perfectly though, but it really was interesting to think of all those concepts and FMA hsa made me think of Alchemy is general and the "true" concept behind it.

Pretty much any anime produced by Studio Ghibli will do that to you. Grave of Fireflies, Mononoke Hime, Pon Poko, and the like have strong feelings in them that "man" is stupid and is doing horrible things to the world around him. There are actually a large amount anime and mangas out there that cater to just that. The only problem is, we Americans like our certain anime/manga format and that is what sells. So good luck find the other odder types.

Although, in the past they brought more of them out when it wasn't as popular and it only had a select group of people following it.

I know there are even more. . . . but my brain is a little fried at the moment.

(Remembers when subtitled anime VHS's were $25 a piece for 1 episode)

I would have to say Howl's Moving Castle.
Not only is it a great anime movie(& one of the best ever ^^)
But it taught me that looks aren't everything.

Another Miazaki/Ghibli production. Wonderful, aren't they?

FMA makes me think about the gate thing. And when we die, your souls are used to fuel a power in another world... Hmm...

Anything Ghibli does is going to make you think about something and that's what makes them great. A lot of thing I watch make me thing which is precisely why I watch them smile But, since no one else has cited it I'll use Ghost In The Shell. The puppetmaster does bring up and interesting question of what exactly defines life. Is it being knowing you're alive and that you exsist? If you don't that you exsist does that mean you'll cease to do so? If you're computer suddenly demanded to be recognized as a lifeform would it count? It's paradoxical but interesting...
